The black guy is James Gadson, one of the funkiest drummers whom Beck recruited for this album. Gadson played on funk classics from way back in the day and is responsible for some of the best beats from that period (60's - 80's).
What I love about Beck is that he takes blandness, uncoolness, and imperfection and makes it all work because that is life. We have to take life's borningness and turn it into something that makes us feel like living. Beck captures this. I LOVE HIM!
I'm always amazed at how fresh and different each of Beck's songs are.. from himself and other artists.. It's so 'outside the box', but so good and funky.
The beauty of music, regardless of whether or not the person making it is fully aware of this, is that it has the power to transcend all of that, and help people relate to each other regardless of their differences, whether personal or religious. Art and music are verrrry important for people to have...
Awesome hat. Random black guy. Cross dressing guys with hilarious mustaches and amazing dancing skills. On an obviously fake beach. I think I'm in love with this video.
The advertisement on these videos is like 10X louder and screechier than the video itself D: My ears, they bleeeeeed. Ahhh yes, soothing Beck. That's much better!
I am ashamed to admit it, but I thought the last of the truly good music was recorded in the 1970s. I loved Jeff Beck in the 1970s, but I knew nothing of Beck. When I heard people speak of Beck, I thought they meant Jeff Beck. Anywho, Kanye's Grammy meltdown prompted me to check Beck's artistry out. I like his music and I hear something a little reminiscent of the Beatles whom I love. Now I have piles and piles of Beck music to sample. I've discovered something. I love it.
Renee Henderson 60's and 70's Is the greatest of all time. Well 50s too because that was buddy holly. But there's some amazing stuff in the 80's. Good rap, and beck in the 90's. But yeah music today blows.
Renee Henderson sorry but if you only discovered Beck after the Grammys you haven't looked hard enough at modern music to say good music stopped in the 70's Use stuff like pandora, last.fm and spotify to find new music. Also, I suggest you listen to Eels, a lot of their songs have a Beck-y sound
Beck is the ultimate musical alchemist - combining his creative genius with shards of assorted life experiences to create the ultimate rainbow of conflicted emotion. It's beautiful confusion. Bravo.
I'm glad that more young people are finding out about Beck, I'm fifteen and thanks to my amazing parents I've grown up listening to great artists like Beck, he's one of my greatest musical inspirations and I wouldn't be playing and enjoying music if it wasn't for amazing artists like him.
The guy in the background is James Gadson. Watch the video Bill Withers "Use me" live in studio from 1972. You can see what sort of chill ganja vibe this dude was emitting back then! He is the drummer :)
One of the only good memories as a child.. I was like 6 or 7 dancing to this with my parents and totally jamming out I remember watching this on the TV I thought it was so cool
"Probably lay my head on a wooden floor tell her I was tired from working the store counting all the cash from an old shoe box savin' up to buy her something she wants" I love that part
All nostalgia is a very mixed bag. I know the feeling. But Beck was a very good thing in those chaotic days. "Odelay" was a masterpiece. He is a rare artist that continued to grow immensely. He is incredibly underrated, and I'm almost glad for that ;)
I discovered this gem of an artist a few years ago when I had an Air Conditioning system installed. The two young guys who did the outside work played "Loser" over and over till even I (58) succumbed to his wit and charm!
Thank you 320 for acknowledging James Gadson, I was literally just signing up for a channel in order to clarify who that was in the back ground. Not just Bill Withers, he was in Dyke and the Blazers, Charles Wrights 103rd Street Watts Band, played drums on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, and for Anita Baker, produced Vernon Burch. Played on hundreds of soul and funk recordings. Hundreds.
I love Beck's mellowed energy; being above it all to tell the rest of us what's going on, because most of our daily lives are too filled with trying to meet the manufactured demands of life that we don't have the time to stop and recognize these things ourselves. Not to mention his talent is genius compared to what's popular now; that which I still haven't found a name for, because to call it music by any other name would be a sin unto itself. Thank God for the 90's.
If I was stranded on a desserted island, the album I would want to have is Midnight Vultures. I know this song isn't on there and I wouldn't have electricity but you get the idea lol!
It's still magic to me how musicians playing instruments acoustic and electric can be recorded with an extremely sensitive cardioid diaphragm inside of a cast iron microphone and recorded onto different mediums to be distributed and played back to ears all over. I knew there wasn't micro sized shrunken human musicians playing at their loudest posable volume in-between the grooves of the Walt Disney 33rpm record I could see no way of shrinking musicians and hiding them within a thick black disk harder than any other plastic I'd experienced at that age
forever the best music vid....i mean the dudes at 1:06 standing in front of a green screen of a desert landscape, wearing dresses, smoking cigarettes, and bouncing a ball?? hell yeah 11/10
The new Olivia Rodrigo song "Bad Idea right?" Really pulls from this track. I immediately heard it within seconds of playing. Wonder if Beck is credited 🤔
Everyone is laughing at me adoring Beck but after listening to this and Cellphone's Dead, they drop dead silent and frenzy after:-) I really like this freak dude:-)
The black guy is James Gadson, one of the funkiest drummers whom Beck recruited for this album. Gadson played on funk classics from way back in the day and is responsible for some of the best beats from that period (60's - 80's).
Scrolled until I found someone who noticed the legend standing behind him. Says a lot about Beck to have a guy like that playing on your stuff!
Watts 103rd street Rhythm Band, now that’s some real soul music
Locked in huh?💪🏽
Beck is one of those artists where there is a song for everyone. The guy is a musical genius.
He is indeed. Nobody like him.
You should research who his dad is😊
And thank God for his mom LOL
One of my very favorites 😊
Beck is the kind of artist that makes you feel cool because you think you're the only one who likes him.
Beck is that weird friend we all want but always feel inferior so we just watch longingly from the distance
I had the fortune to have a friend like him from childhood. Still friends. I've loved every moment.
That’s how I feel about Mac Demarco or Tyler the creator
Brilliant lol
No.
yes
The secret Beck uses is that theres a natural flow of music happening in the ether and he allows it to flow.
This guy is so strange and bizarre, yet a genius at that. His amazing versatility makes him better than almost every musician out today.
What I love about Beck is that he takes blandness, uncoolness, and imperfection and makes it all work because that is life. We have to take life's borningness and turn it into something that makes us feel like living. Beck captures this. I LOVE HIM!
beautiful comment ❤️ so true
I'm always amazed at how fresh and different each of Beck's songs are.. from himself and other artists.. It's so 'outside the box', but so good and funky.
this is so accurate !
Yeah! Each song is so different! Most bands you hope will have a new sound on their next album...Beck changes it up all the time!
None of his albums sound the same as the previous one. He's always keeping you on your toes, and that's what makes him so great
My biggest inspiration, I very much embrace that notion of every song should do it's own thing in my own works.
Once you go Beck you never go back
😂😂😂
yes but wcs?
Awww I love this song. The Information was a really underrated album.
I couldn't agree more. One of my faves from Beck.
I enjoyed that album
I purchased it and arranged the stickers just so.
I can listen to songs by beck over and over again and never get sick of them. Literally the only artist I can say that about.
funny...it's so true!!
The guy in the background is the coolest.
:D isso
Gadson was Marvin Gaye's drummer as well. One of the greats.
the guy in the back & every other person-male & female is Beck!!!
You should see him in "Cellphone's dead"!
when did Paul Gilbert and Little Richard write this cool song?
There's something about Beck. He's so laid back man.
One of my favorite Beck songs. One of the few times he gets personal.
'' Really think i better get a hold of myself" makes me want to be the best possible version of myself❤
Thank you, Beck, you musical genius
We need more new music from Beck.
I think I want to marry this guy. His style is so...awesome. Definitely an original artist in my book.
So... you think you're in love
I never made it as a wise man, but I know one thing: Beck knows how to lay down a simple groove.
DAMN YOU
Qv
Beck transcends both time and space.
Most Definitely

One of my favorite beck songs

This is one of my personal favourites.
Beck is a musical genius ;)
Greetings from the Netherlands

Good music is still being made.. what makes you think it stopped being made in the 70s?
That was my hey-day and I'm just partial to 1970s music. Especially classic rock!
Renee Henderson 60's and 70's Is the greatest of all time. Well 50s too because that was buddy holly. But there's some amazing stuff in the 80's. Good rap, and beck in the 90's. But yeah music today blows.
Renee Henderson There is a ton of great music being made today. If you give it a chance I bet you'd like it. Check out Muse- I'd bet you like them.
Renee Henderson sorry but if you only discovered Beck after the Grammys you haven't looked hard enough at modern music to say good music stopped in the 70's

His moves on the dance floor are an even bigger legend
Beck is in a category beyond the norm. he is a true genius
Beck, if you or anyone in your crew is reading this, PLEASE play this song live when you come to Merriweather Pavillion (Columbia, MD) in August!
His music is fantastic, I love it
Didn't the album come with a DVD of the videos and they all looked like they just took a camcorder and filmed all the videos in one take?
Also it came with a really bizarre and cool fold out sticker poster. Soldier Jane and strange apparitions are masterpieces.
This deserves more views
He was great live. Best experience of my life. Even if I remain a piece of shit the rest of my life at least I can say I saw him live.
Where'd you see him?
Alex R I saw him at Red Rocks. Best concert I've seen since seeing "Stop Making Sense" tour in Dallas by the Talking Heads.
Alex R Saw him July 2014 at Forecastle (Louisville, KY).
You have upgraded from piece of shit status to actual cool dude by seeing Beck live!
Strong self awareness lmao
The guy in the background is James Gadson. Watch the video Bill Withers "Use me" live in studio from 1972. You can see what sort of chill ganja vibe this dude was emitting back then! He is the drummer :)
I was wondering who that guy was. Pretty cool. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Gadson
You rule, Satan.
Beck, your still a hit with me. I have dug your style and direction every since you hit the airwaves. Right on man. Keep keeping it real.
One of the only good memories as a child.. I was like 6 or 7 dancing to this with my parents and totally jamming out I remember watching this on the TV I thought it was so cool
Wow you’re young lol. This song reminds me of being 23 and love sick
love this kind of music. Beck please keep making kind of music. Don't go full hipster music on us hahaha
Katya Alfrey lol too late
Be honest, becks always been kind of hipster. Who cares tho
I love this song so much and for some reason i feels really closely relates to or is about me. One my favorite songs from beck!
"Probably lay my head on a wooden floor
tell her I was tired from working the store
counting all the cash from an old shoe box
savin' up to buy her something she wants"
I love that part
Funny how I like everything by Beck. There's not one single song I don't like. Long live Beck!
Man next to Beck is James Gadson one of the best drummers ever
Wait holy shit it is? Really looks like him!
Oakley Jacket definitely him. The gold tooth confirms it.
Dude, sorry, no
I was wondering. He's in Cellphone's Dead too.
@@balazstorok9265 Yup, he recorded this album with Beck.
Just another example of the genius that is Beck.
Beck is of David Bowie/Talking Heads status . Really . That's not easy to live up to . A truly unique tallent.
Man this song takes me back. I love the past but hate it too
Takes me way back
All nostalgia is a very mixed bag. I know the feeling. But Beck was a very good thing in those chaotic days. "Odelay" was a masterpiece. He is a rare artist that continued to grow immensely. He is incredibly underrated, and I'm almost glad for that ;)
Beck has always been awesome!
I'm suprised why this song did not do better on the charts. Its one of his better songs, its very catchy.
I discovered this gem of an artist a few years ago when I had an Air Conditioning system installed. The two young guys who did the outside work played "Loser" over and over till even I (58) succumbed to his wit and charm!
This song is FIRE! Another great song by my dude, Beck!
1:37 That B part, it´s like song within a song, super short with a perfect string arrangment!
Just love the guy standing there behind Beck LOL. Great song. Love Beck xx
Thank you 320 for acknowledging James Gadson, I was literally just signing up for a channel in order to clarify who that was in the back ground. I forgot how much I love this song... I think and starting to have another Beck fever lol
Congratulations Beck for winning Album of the year.
Los videos de Beck son como estar soñando 💖
I love Beck's mellowed energy; being above it all to tell the rest of us what's going on, because most of our daily lives are too filled with trying to meet the manufactured demands of life that we don't have the time to stop and recognize these things ourselves.

The laugh at the beginning
Is that guy behind Beck that awesome drummer?? He reminds me very much.
Honestly the guy with the beard didn't look half bad in his dress
In my top 10 favourite Beck songs, there are so many fav Beck songs💜💜💜💜💜💜💙💙💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You're right, and he's beautiful...
I just want to bite that lower lip.
This is art.
This is what you call music
Happy 48th birthday Beck ! I think I'm love with you
I'd have to say this about Beck: He is the Harry Nilsson of my generation.
Grrrrrrrrrrrreat comment
A bit like Bowie? And Donovan
Absolutely
the best ambassador of alternative Americana one can find anywhere
The bass is infectious, total song is very creative great melody!
I have listened this song today while I was buying in an Aldi retail…How does Aldi know that I like Beck???
This is the best video I have ever seen.
No need to comment.
Love you all
Fave Beck song.
just shaved my head & dyed it neon yellow. jamming 2 this on the freeway while smoking a cigarette. damn i feel good!
Did you reference Interlochen or was that just me? Great starry nights and waves of future over your head. Funny.
I like the guy in the background ... feel like hanging out with him
i ate a burger once with him
It's James Gadson, longtime drummer for Marvin Gaye, The Staples Singers, et al. One of the all-time great session drummers.
spitting knowledge, this adds so much to the video!
It's still magic to me how musicians playing instruments acoustic and electric can be recorded with an extremely sensitive cardioid diaphragm inside of a cast iron microphone and recorded onto different mediums to be distributed and played back to ears all over. Качество всегда раскачивает мою душу ) Спасибо Beck!
The new Olivia Rodrigo song "Bad Idea right?" Really pulls from this track. I immediately heard it within seconds of playing. Wonder if Beck is credited 🤔
I think I'm in love with Beck, but it makes me kinda nervous to say so.
😂

I'm in love him too
I don't even care, I am in love with Beck and everyone is like "he's in a cult." I'm like.........
guess I'm supporting a cult then
feel like Beck's underrated
the guy in the background looks like a young Stanley Hudson.
It's been 30 years since Loser? Holy crap. My mind is still stuck in the 90's while my body is in 2050.
Dude I'm 13 and I love Beck Hanson everybody makes fun of me for it but I don't care it's still really good music. Heck I even listen to the Beatles
Hansen, Beck Hansen
My bad I posted that from my Phone and it has auto correct
Yeah, I get your pain, sometimes iPhones are dreadful. Sorry if I seemed harsh or something, wasn't my intention :D
I'm 33 and i get made fun of for liking Beck. It's something that comes along with listening to good music.
Yeah that's totally true.
highest music video budget of the year! :)
Everyone is laughing at me adoring Beck but after listening to this and Cellphone's Dead, they drop dead silent and frenzy after:-) I really like this freak dude:-)
Beck.. your range of music is pretty undeniably very underrated. Folk to rap.. only beck
Oh! His eyes are blue! Notice: He's cracking up at beginning, just before singing! :D
Went to a hole in the wall bar when I was about 12 with my dad and heard this while everyone was drinking. 24 now and I still love it.
Think I'm in Love
Beck
I really think I better get a hold of myself
Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin' her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn't know what happens when she's around
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
Probably lay my head on a wooden floor
Tell her I was tired from working the store
Counting all the cash from an old shoe box
Saving up to buy her something she wants
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
What if it's wrong?
What if it's wrong
To pray in vain?
What does it mean
To fake your death
To wake up tainted?
Take a little picture in a photo booth
Keep it in a locket, and I think of you
Both of our pictures, face to face
Take off your necklace and throw it away
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
I think I'm in love
But it makes me kinda nervous to say so
Really think I better get a hold of myself
Don't wanna let the night get ahead of myself
Whisperin' her love through a smoke ring smile
She doesn't know what happens when she's around
I think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Think I'm in love
Songwriters: Beck Hansen
Think I'm in Love lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC
Beck is from another planet his religion is appropriate.

Loved Beck since MELLOW GOLD era. Come back to England & play your fine sounds for us again. Ta.
i lov u beck. i hope that maens something.
Damn, those guys look better in those dresses than I ever would -3-
The videos from the information are awesome.
it's interesting looking back on this song, given how their relationship turned out. the "I think" "it makes kind of nervous to say so."
