    Beautiful! I always made this in a pot on the stove nursing it for four hours. Then I would let it cool on the counter, then I put it in the fridge. I always used it as a filling inside my cupcakes and also in my buttercream frosting. But THIS method takes the cupcakes!! Thank you!

    Thanks for this. It is different from the other dulce videos. Could I also just place 4 cans without opening it into the IP?

    This is not a video on canning, just to be clear. The lids are loose so the pressure doesn't build up in the jars. The condensed milk is being cooked in the jars. Sometimes jars break, as they do in actual canning. Some people make this in the can. I have not tried that method as I am happy with making it in the jars. Store the finished product in the fridge, if it lasts long enough!

    If you twist your can as you stop pouring, it will eliminate that string.

    The lumps and that weird stuff you were talking about it happens with the cheaper quality of condense milk. To get the best consistency it is to buy the eagle brand. You are right. But 20 mins for those two can is too long of a time.

    Did your jars seal...? Usually when canning you take out the jars while still hot (you can do a natural or quick release) then take them out and let them sit for 24 hours before opening them, and place on a towel as you did, then they should have sounds of the lids popping, that means the jars are sealing.When you opened the jar it didn't look like it was sealed...? Looks easy to make! Thanks for the video.

      PJ D No, this is not canning at all. Just cooking in the canning jars. This pressure cooker is not rated for canning, and I can't can in it. I cook things like this and lemon curd, and oatmeal in the jars for convenience only. There are pressure canners out there, but this is not one. ☺️

    💕 Hi Sandy. I went and bought jars because of your video. 😊 I couldn't remember what size you had, and I ended up getting 8 oz jars. Which I'm fine with. I was curious about the sterilization of the jars. Is that very necessary ? I don't really think I'll have mine around more than a few days to week. And I was only going to make 2 or 3, and share them (and a cheesecake) with my daughter & son. I know they'll love it ! Thank you ahead of time for any answers you can give me ! Take care, & thank you so much for your video ! You have such a calm, soothing voice. 😍👋🏼

      I use 4 oz jars. You can use 8 oz jars, but you may want to pressure cook a few minutes longer. I run my jars through the dishwasher before I use them.

    This is a great video on how to achieve beautiful Dulce de Leche. Just a quick word of warning that if the jar were to seal in the process of making it, it would not be safe to store on the shelf it must be stored in the fridge. Just didn't want anyone to become ill thinking it was shelf safe.

    Does pressure cooking these jars in the instant pot make them shelf stable so I can store them in my pantry?

    • @SandyGClifton
      @SandyGClifton  2 роки тому

      No, it does not make them shelf stable. Sometimes the lids seal, but they still need to be refrigerated. You would need to can them in water. Look at the Ball canning website for directions.

    Yes obviously she doesn’t have much canning experience. Once the pot has released pressure (totally NR as any help with the QR would blast the jars to bits), it is safe to remove them and let them finish cooling on the counter. You should have a towel on the counter so there isn’t any shock to the jars. There were may more errors, too like you should "vent" sream (out of the steam vent) for 10 min before sealing the valve. One last thing, if you live above 1000ft don’t do this as you need 15 lbs PSI. The Instant Pot only does 10lbs PSI. Be safe & read up on canning techniques.

    • @Warbler36
      @Warbler36 5 років тому +8

      MonCher If you will read her top pinned comment, she explained she is NOT trying to “can“ in these jars. She is simply using the jars to cook the condensed milk.

    • @SandyGClifton
      @SandyGClifton  5 років тому +2

      MonCher I am NOT canning these, just cooking in the jars. The Instant Pot I used does not have a high enough PSI to safely can. Thank you for your comment.
