Everyone has brokenness, it just looks different for others. But what a powerful testimony to how God works ❤ and how we can truly forgive. In a culture where people walk away at the drop of a hat it's refreshing to see marriages where spouses fight for each other❤
The Bible says no one is good. Like she said she allowed her circumstances to open the door to the devils lies. But the Holy Spirit has been working in her and through her to come to repentance and accept Jesus back in her life. God is merciful and makes ashes into beauty. This simply means she did not have a relationship with God in the 1st place. She expected her husband to be Jesus. I have 0 empathy. He should have left her. She does not deserve this man.
I hope that you never experience complete un forgiveness towards your sin the way that you are wishing for her. God gave her husband the ability to forgive her because he understood Christ's forgiveness for his own sin. There is NO sin that is unforgivable by Christ. Maybe she wasn't saved before the affair but it sure sounds like she got saved in the process! Not all marriages can be salvaged after an affair but those that are can be a testament to God's redemptive love for us.

It should be “Praise God who saved my marriage and restored us, I’ll never stop serving Him” not “I’ll drop pastoring anytime for my marriage if I have to” but it’s possible he might have meant it differently because in order to pastor you do have to get your house in proper order. I just want to make sure this statement is clear or those watching and younger Christians.

Thank you for this testimony!! I had an affair on my husband at 25 years of age 6 years into our marriage. The guilt made me want to kill myself. He forgave me and we rededicated our lives but he went back I to the world and back on his forgiveness. He was bitter towards me for 20 years and even hated God. I finally had all I could take. I was so in love with Jesus is the only reason I could cope. Finally we agreed to divorce and we were both freed. I am happily married now to someone who first loves God and second knows everything and still loves me. To forgive is supernatural and it will never happen without God. But I firmly believe a marriage can survive infidelity if both ppl turn to God, the guilty party repents, and leave the past behind!!

I may not have been to church a lot in recent years and maybe influenced by people who arent christian but I feel if someone cheats repetedly on me that it would be over for good. But I guess I dont know the full story.

Yes. But I guess, like he stated, he kind of put his family on the back burner. We are to be committed to our relationship with Christ always regardless first and foremost. We ourselves are the church. Not necessarily where we attend. God does intend us to take time to rest and for our spouses and children as well. That is why it is imperative that everyone learn how to hear from God directly for themselves.

It was “Because of what he did, I cheated.” If a man said it this way, we would be sickened by it. Instead of making excuses, it would have been beautiful to just hear her admit she was selfish and weak and did what she wanted to do. Regardless of the circumstances of the marriage, cheating is a choice YOU make for YOURSELF. This was not an uplifting story, it was sad. It was all his fault. I initially thought that his ministry should come before his wife, but God led me to 1 Timothy 3:4. There, God tells us the criteria for anyone who wants to lead a church, and one if them is to be able to manage his household. The pastor is right about temporarily stepping down to fix the issues at home before leading and teaching other believers.

Many church leaders and marriages struggle these days, there is immense pressure from all around. And all emotions and temptations are real. To see that you both decided to seek God, repentance and change of priorities in your situation, truly glorifies God. I realize he forgave her. But still there is no excuse for cheating. When women cheat “oh it’s a mistake”. When guys cheat they are evil. I would’ve left her …but good on your John. Hopefully she’s faithful to you now…

He would give up the church for his wife and kids?! I think that’s in the wrong order and not scriptural. The wife said ‘me’ a lot as well. This story was not a blessing for me.

I initially thought that his ministry should come before his wife, but God led me to 1 Timothy 3:4. There, God tells us the criteria for anyone who wants to lead a church, and one if them is to be able to manage his household. The pastor is right about temporarily stepping down to fix the issues at home before leading and teaching other believers.

Thank you for your courage to share your story. Many people fear to speak about issues like this because of judgement and criticism. Which is absolutely real in christianity unfortunatelly. Many church leaders and marriages struggle these days, there is immense pressure from all around. And all emotions and temptations are real. To see that you both decided to seek God, repentance and change of priorities in your situation, truly glorifies God. He is faithful and dont want any to perish, but all come to the knowledge of the truth. 🙏❤
