    Having done a little research of my own, I believe that Alric is a time traveler. The Jericho Reach contains the Hadex Anomaly which affects the passage of time, even trapping derelict ships in stasis. I believe that Alric knows when his brothers are in danger because he has already lived through this period of time. This would explain his extensive knowledge of the Necron Dynasty of Suhbekhar, which has only awakened very recently. The temporal effects from the Hadex Anomaly would also potentially explain the existence of the Watch-Fortress Erioch, which was found upon the arrival of Imperial agents within the Jericho Reach to already be millennia old, yet it clearly fits the design of the Ramilles Class Star-fort. In short the fortress predates humanity in the Jericho Reach.
    Further research has uncovered an even more terrifying possibility, that Alric could be a Necron consciousness within the body of Space Marine. Ozkan the Codifier is the lead Cryptek of the Suhbekhar Dynasty who has been secretly using his mastery of Transmogrification to attempt to restore the Necron race to flesh and blood. He has experimented upon many different races, producing many failures of insane monsters said to be far worse even than the Flayed Ones. None have proven to be strong enough to survive the process. He has recently come to the idea that the organic perfection of the Space Marines may be able to survive the transference process.

      The things the mind comes up, when listening to 40k theories while having a shower. Had the same idea, especially, since Alric seems to be quite familiar with the Necrons, who are known to have their fingers in time-altering technologies. The unwillingness to initially join the deathwatch using warp travel could be an indicator for your Necron-theorie (either come in contact or been necronified) as well. Did he warp-travel at a later date or is he avoiding warp travel at all? If the time-travel theorie proves correct, is is service to the emperor truely eternal or is he altering the timeline already by "fixing" the outcome of engangements?

    Somebody with significant stealth tech shot him from medium distance, planted the fuel to suggest incorrect distance and inaccuracy, and did so recently enough to ensure that inquisitor was in charge.

    The opening sentence describes exactly how Grey Knight Justicar Alaric was found after his ‘sojourn’ in the warp.... idk if there was any books about him after the Grey Knight Omnibus, however I just read those books recently and after watching this video I couldn’t come up with anything that says it couldn’t be him... low level psyker, in grey armour alone on a mission after he sorta failed at being a Grey Knight or was perhaps chosen (by The Emperor sure but also a high ranking Inquistor who sees this Grey Knight as more than just a daemonhammer) for a more unique path... even the timeframe fits more or less because ya know WarpStuff... idk, that’s my head canon now

    • @40KTheories
      @40KTheories  4 роки тому +1

      I find it unlikely given that at the end of Hammer of Daemons he had arrived at the Fortress of Belsimar to be debriefed by Inquisitor Nyxos (not to mention the ship Alaric was on had a crew whereas Alric's did not) where it was implied he'd go on to serve in Nyxos's retinue.

    • @earlofsandwich2850
      @earlofsandwich2850 4 роки тому

      40K Theories That is true, and my statement was perhaps too vague. I did not mean that was the ship nor was that the same moment that he was found and brought to the Inquisitorial fortress, I simply meant it was eerily similar. Now true, coincidences do happen and yet Do They? Regardless of all that though, he could indeed be part of or formerly a part of Inquisitor Nyxos’ retinue by performing a mission only he could accomplish... I think it makes perfect sense that an Astartes designed and created to fight Chaos and the Warp, but one who was more intelligent and perhaps a bit more imaginative would be drawn to the only enemies who had true success against Chaos.. Basically this is the story I think could be; Alaric is charged by Nyxos to go get and or learn of Necron tech. When he does this it takes him far from all allies and even without the Warp, Necron tech has been known to mess with time so both time travel or something we don’t know of could have aged him and possibly made him forget who he was. However I think he just is much more human than the average Astartes and so after all his friends are dead or think him dead and perhaps realizing what was coming (Abaddon perhaps?) he simply is going through some mental trauma. I mean the reason Space Marines have no fear is because they are little boys who never grew up, except with super steroids and psycho conditioning that essentially make them weapons and they lose part of their humanity in the process... long post i know and this kind of miscommunication is why I only rarely comment. Besides what’s the saying? Everything’s canon but not everything is true. I personally think that Mad Max is a Perpetual in the Dark Age of Technology and that The Matrix movies happened in 40k and is the reason that A.I. is considered heresy, so what do I know?

      Alaric was, yes, before he finally reached the fortress of Belsimar, but remember that _Alric's_ ship by contrast lacked any form of warp capability. To emerge from the Eye without a warp drive is an incredibly difficult and dangerous undertaking, especially if he was the only person (sentient, servitor or otherwise) on the ship.
      In addition, to travel from the Eye of Terror to the Jericho Reach where the Watch Fortress of Erioch is located (which is literally at the opposite end of the galaxy) without warp travel would take tens of thousands of years.
      Even with taking repeated self induced Sus-an comas into account, it's not only unlikely for even a space marine to survive that long in real space without sustenance (let alone oxygen supplies or maintenance to the life support systems of both his ship and armour) but even if he did miraculously survive, it seems implausible for him to be fully coherent and have his wits about him upon awakening.
      But again, at the end of Hammer of Daemons, Alaric (not Alric) reached the fortress of Belsimar and was debriefed by Inquisitor Nyxos

    I'm surprised that an inquisitor would be alive for that long. If it took Alric so long to get there (centuries) then any Inquisitor alive when he left would be dead. Only thing I can think of would be viewing the future to know what inquisitor would be alive there at that time.

  • @darkage5
    @darkage5 4 роки тому

    I was hoping that he would have been Justicar Alaric from the Ben Counter Grey Knights books. But based on his dealings with the Inquisitor saying he had plans for Alaric. This could also fit the narrative. Grey Knights do have sus an membrane. The time thing that is a little questionable but ships do get sucked into the warp and spat out. Inquisitor Nyxos could have had knowledge of this and selected him for all of this to play out according to a greater plan. This would also account for Alaric's psychic ability.

  • @avocato1135

    Given his name, and a lot of the images showing his primary chained to himself, I think he may well be a former Templar, Possibly having been sent back in time somehow via the warp by an inquisitor to prevent something bad from happening, and as such changing the future in the imperiums favour, or possibly having seen the visions that would normally mark him out as an emperors champion, and interpreting them differently to his brothers?

He one of the dark angels who where thrown through space and time, now he's back via warp fuckery but thanks to the fact that the warp is BS he overshot the Horus heresy and landed in the current imperium, so now all he can do is use his knowledge of the future and his fighting prowess to redeem his legion.

    There are some Space Marines that have done unknown research into the Necrons, at least according to Fabious Bile. The ones in particular, who encountered Necron space were the 2nd Legion and their Primarch, and while 10k years is beyond the limits of suspended animation, the ability to time travel through the warp is entirely possible especially with the claim of the Emperor's guidance. It's entirely possible that he was a company Captain, or even an honor guard for the 2nd legion who did not [REDACTED] for whatever reason, and the Emperor thought he may be useful in the future. So while he says he has visions of the Emperor, they may be implanted memories to begin with.
    The main problem with this theory is the psychic scanning, but if that worked fully he wouldnt be a mystery in the first place.

    Y'know GW has been hinting at a returned primarch for 9th edition, what if it is actually Omegon, who has been loyal this whole time? Possibly there are two Alpha Legions, one loyal, one traitor. If Alpharius is truly dead Omegon could have been hiding, having been declared a traitor, but actually working to stop the traitor Alpha Legion.
