- I specifically discuss the differences between the ASUS TUF 3080 and the Zotac AMP HOLO 3080. Even though they marketed completely differently the ASUS card performs way better. Just wanna encourage you to do your research on the right model for you especially with rtx 4000 and rx 7000 right around the corner.

Such a shame to hear about how poor some companies treat their thermals and compete directly over RGB and clock speeds, I personally would love to see companies compete thermally with real world information an comparisons especially when about to purchase as most people always scroll through the flashy banner sheet they stick on the sales page
It feels bad man. Rgb doesn’t really matter
I remember when the 3080 initially launched. The Asus Tuf was the most popular model available. I think Asus had the majority of the lion share of 3080s during the supply crisis.
IRTX 3080 TUF OC owner here, going to post a quick review on it. It has been amazing so far at 1440p 165hz. Really good cooling and even OCing to its max, i still stay around 63c.
It’s great
This was true for the 3000 series using Samsung 7nm. The silicon lottery was big. Two amper cards will clock you 200mhz more. But for the 4000 series this dont matter. They all the same. Nvidia is making going fo AIBs cards not worth it. I guess Nvidia's plan of becoming an apple company is truly in the works
Oh yeah the founders edition 4000 run really cool and quiet. 3000 wasn’t as good. But makes u wonder what the point of buying the aib cards is
40 series can suck my ass. If 4090 was closer to $1000 and the other cards actually had value over ampere then I’d be for it but no. I’m not telling Nvidia their bullshit is ok, mindlessly pay $1500-$2000 for more dollar per frame than last gen just to get more frames is not ok and the other cards are WAY worse offenders. Buying that shit is telling Nvidia “yes please keep ripping us off and burn our house down we don’t care”. Anyone who buys a 4080 should wear a dunce hat.
Good point! IIRC Tom's hardware in depth reviews used to measure fan noise and whatnot. I don't know that they do anymore though.
This video is really good deserve a sub and like
Just subbed because this is what people need to know more than brand names...from personal experience Zotac makes great 3060s anything above they have been DIY cards for me because Im always having to re-install screws that fall out of them and the temps sucks, I have over 25 cards and I know to stay away from the HOLO , and not a single one of my TUF Gaming cards has ever given me any issues or high temps.
Thanks man
Lol I wish I knew zotac had that reputation
@@vextakes Have you looked into copper shims?
@@Mayhem2019 nah actually my I’m late. Do they work?
My Aorus Master 3070 Ti runs great lol was even able to give it a slight overclock with temps staying around 65c while stressing and gaming. I did strictly buy it based on the LCD screen though lmao gotta get what you’ll be happy with just like you said.
Lol glad it’s workin well for ya. I just saw it in reviews so I don’t really know 😂
not even gonna mention how SHITTY gigabyte softaware is huh lol. if you can even change the screen you are lucky. if you can change the rgb lighting you are one of the lucky few. i had the 3080 of that card and got rid of that pos. you buy it for the screen and yeah shit doesnt work 99% of the time. temps werent awful though in the 70's. certainly not good though for what the card costs. ive had quite a few 30 series cards over the past 2 yrs.
@@parkersgarage4216 😂😂😂 the zotac firestorm software is atrocious too
Yeah my buddy has an Aorus Master 3070 and it's a monster. Clocks way higher than anything else and runs cool as a cucumber.
My Aorus Master 3070 Ti also peaks at ~65c with a simple MSI Afterburner overclock while running SOTR max settings for over an hour.
Great card in terms of performance and thermals but RGB Fusion 2.0 has led to a ton of crashes and PFN_LIST_CORRUPT bluescreens.
My mans just called out Tech Jesus and is absolutely on point. Earned a sub!

I thought this channel has something like 100k subscribers the editing is on point
The stuff you say is on point
I was surprised to say the least when I saw you had less than 200 subs

Very nice
I really appreciate it
The only GPU brands I trust are Asus, MSI, EVGA, and NIVIDIA FE. unfortunately EVGA is done making cards moving forward.
fun fact if your bios on ur gpu gets destroyed from a thunderstorm you can use the bios switch to go to the bios that works so its also makes it more reliable
Facts. Def gives some piece of mind
just upgraded to a 2080ti had a 1070 before but did a ton of research before i bought went with the EVGA FTW3. For 3080 series cards looked at the asus tuff but my pc was to old to fully use them so research proved to help show what I could upgrade to without needing a new pc with best compatibility. LGA 2011 x79 holding strong with a Xeon 1680v2 on asus sabertooth motherboard with 40% overclock at 4k 60fps on most titles i tryed
I have a TUF 3090, power limited for sure, however thermals are great.
I got the lesser EVGA 3080. The XC3. It's performing well so far and not too hot.
Never had any issue with mine either. I love it. (Same model).
@@Rightly_Divided i have the same card but without Msi afterburner, my idle was at around 56c and around 70-80 under load. After changing the fan curve, on idle it is at 29c and 60c max under load

I got a sweet brand new asus Tuf 3090 deal for only 1369 cad from memory express, where it was originaly priced at 1899, and ngl, i got lucky and i am thankful, this gpu will last me for years and years to come
What benchmarking software did you use to measure the temperature for the cards?
That’s just msi afterburner. I was thinking abt using capframex next time, cos afterburner is clunky
Well done! Great review, i've been waiting for someone to start comparing different manufactures gpus from the same kind.
Fortunately, the Zotac version of rtx 4090 (non-oc) is superb - relatively quiet and surprisingly cool.
I got a Zotac 3070ti and found it awesome , Low fan noise and it never goes about 62c , At the time a lot of the reviews for it on amazon was bad , Bad thermals , fan noise , and bad bearing but after owning the amp holo for alittle over two years , Personally I've never had one problem or complaint other then low VRAM but I new this when I purchased the product .
yea, this kind of info that people will mostly don't know about. they heard 3080 and they thought it's all gonna be the same in performance, power usage, etc just because the other also had "3080" on the box. after market does a lot of different things to their gpu. nice video for sure
I bought the asus about a month ago and it never saw more than 62°C even when running Furmark. Slight undervolt and it hits perfection.
I undervolted my gygabyte gaming oc 3080ti slightly and capped the core clock at all times stable 1755mhz, temperature dropped from 86 max to 75, lost close to zero performance and it runs quieter
Just came across this and thought you had like 2m subs tbh, keep it up man this is really good content
Jesus Christ thanks man
The problem might be the power transistors (VRMs). They are probably crap. If you buy higher quality (i.e. japanese) ones they are probably more efficient which means they do not emit as much heat which overheats the Zotac board.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I'm not making a move until I see Rog Strix RX 7950 XTX 32GB
😂😂 if it’s not $1600 dollars I ain’t buyin
Zotac didn't make good cards for years now.
I used to use Zotac and I know it flaws.
I stick to either EVGA or ASUS.
Sadly, EVGA stopped making gpu's.
PNY is pretty good
@@googlemanager5485 PNY also makes cheap A4000 cards I recommended a graphics designer this.
I had an old pny gtx 770 before and it ran well. I didn’t really know much about PCs back then tho
I just found this video on my yt recommendations. How do you have less subscribers than me lol. This is some really good content!
I have the rog strix 3080 10gb and it has been awesome. I use it on the quiet mode and it is quieter than my intake fans lol. Also the performance is good too. Forza horizon 5 at 4k max settings runs at a solid 60fps. (My cpu is the 10700kf)

I recently got my 3080 TUF for only 600 euro and it has incredible thermals. No regrets.
damn, suddenly I'm a lot happier about owning my tuf card
Vertically mounting your GPU will reduce the temperature a lot. Cheers
Wow! Nice video you hit the nail.
I got the MSI Ventus 3080 12gb one of the cheaper cards and I put a water block on it now its as fast as a 3080 ti I still can't believe how much it overclocks
Bought the exact ASUS model and had crazy coil whine with it.
That sucks man. That is to do with the power deliver so I’m not 100% sure if that’s asus fault. Still blows
Very informative video
Good job
I wish the flashy rgb would go away and people would build function! I don’t care if my pc glows or is loud as hell if it does what I want it to do.
I had to advise friend to pay 40 euros extra for three fan Gigabite Eagle RTX 3060 instead of two cooler Palit version. People tend to skim on better manufacturer. It was especially hilarious in my friend's case, because his primary requirement was quietness. So, I had to advise him not to do stupid stuff and he is very happy with a PC which I built for him.
That Zotac Amp Holo is not a flagship as Zotac has Amp Extreme Holo on top of it, and that one has a much better cooling system.
In the case of Amp Holo’s bad temperature, it has a shroud design that has one side so closed off by a lighting panel, in a way that almost prevents hot air from exhausts through that side… and it doesn’t even have a pass through design backplate. Even the cheapest Trinity model has a better temperature while still having the very same heatsink design, albeit with a more open shroud and a pass through backplate.
I have it, the Amp holo, and at one point I had tried swapping a shroud with the one from Trinity, and temperature dropped around 7-8 degrees just from a shroud swap with same pads and paste brand as before. Sadly I had to return the Trinity to my friend.
Also, in my country, that Tuf card (non-oc edition) retails at a much higher price than Zotac holo.
Interesting. I was was curious cos almost every other 3080 has a pass through design. It would make sense that is the major difference
As for the flagship stuff that’s an honest mistake on my part. I never saw that card before. But I will say it doesn’t change a whole lot because the focus of the video was to show that there is a pretty big difference between aib cards even at the same price point. Which makes it valuable to weigh the pros and cons to actually find out what is right for u
Thanks for the feedback tho I’ll make sure to double check next time
I just got a 3080 fe and it is great temperature wise. Prety silant too, hardly audible during games.
74 c was the gpu temp at the hottest. And i think the hot spot was around 90c
Yeah it was surprisingly good
What’s the difference in the 3080 amp Holo and 3080 trinity OC? I have the trinity OC and my card works just fine, with good thermals and pretty quiet
They should be pretty similar. Idk. I think I did see somewhere the trinities run better but I forget why
Did you test the Asus TUF? I do have a hard time believing its so much better. Yes it can run 10+ degrees cooler, but probably will be as loud. I dont know though, havent tested these myself. But you should if you didnt, it wasnt evident from the video to me
Yep it does, and is abt 10 DB quieter most of the time
Sorry abt the less in depth testing before I filmed, I was going off reviews at that point. I didn’t really have the time to test the card then take my system apart again to film
@@vextakes np, thanks.
Yes I know the asus is better, but I mean is it both 10db quiter and 10degrees cooler at the same time?
Pretty close yeah. I don’t have the most precise measurements give or take a couple above or below. With the temp it is kinda hard to check cos the zotac throttles itself while the asus never has to. The zotac will be at 86 degrees and the asus at 78, both after abt an hour under load. But that’s the asus in quiet bios too, which has its noise sitting below the sound of my case fans so I can’t even measure while the zotac is clearly very loud, even with a sort of whine with it because the fans are running so fast.
Those stats are pretty reasonable tho, this is basically like comparing one of the worst performing 3080s to one of the best. That’s abt as far as it ranges
Hey man, did you change the thermal pads or thermal paste on the Zotac?
I saw a lot of videos about this card and I’m pretty sure if you change them you could run as cool as the Tuf or even cooler.
Just try out the Arctic MX-5 or the newer one (MX-6) on the core and the Thermalright extreme or the GPURisers pads on VRMs.
You’ll be able to decrease the temps around 20 degrees as I saw from others.
Wish the best.
I did and mentioned in this video. Not insignificant but I was able to get it to run stock without throttle but still at 83c. Also undervolted which got it to kind of resasonable levels
Mem temps didn’t have a noticeable change with pads (thermal rite odyssey)
Zotac always run hott coz it cheaper.. but i using rtx2070 mini for 3 years 80c no problem.. now and im upgrade to 3070ti tuf im happy with it never run out over 65c 😊❤
i did purchased a used 3080 amp holo and i definitely agree. thermals suck real bad. i did change thermal pads and paste, i got gpu temps of 5 degrees lower. which plays around 80s. then i tried to repaste it again and luckily im getting 70s atm. hopefully, i'll be able to maintain this temps. i did undervolt to 900mv though and running 1770 clockspeeds. so far so good.
Lol it’s so much just to get it bareable
@@vextakes just an update. I just changed the thermal pads to copper and OMG the result is phenomenal! Now i run it to 1935mhz on core and +800 on memory and it works like a charm. Now i can proudly say, Worth it!
tbh I've always known this.
Few months ago bought a rx6900xt 16G OC 'One Size' from Gigabyte which I know is better than the ASUS and AsRock counterparts. Also $300 more expensive atm.
I bought the cheapest model of RX 6600 4 months ago and i'm happy with it. I paid 320$ for it. It is a Powecolor Fighter model which has bad reviews on youtube, but as long as i get 60 fps in all of the games that i play, at high settings, i am happy. I hope to last me for at least 5 years or until games will become too demanding even at low settings.
Good for u man
I bought a Zotac Trinity OC 3070 Ti for $570 before taxes just recently and thought nothing of it given that every other AIB variant was at least $60 more. Besides the Amp Holo version at an extra $50, they both have the same cooler so I couldn't justify the extra dollars and after seeing this video I just hope that I don't run into the same overheating and noise issue.
🙏🏼
Btw it’s manageable with an undervolt and if u cap ur frames in games then it’ll do great. Just anything to keep the temps down
@@vextakes gonna have to mess around with it when I get the chance. I appreciate the suggestion brodie
im sitting with a 3060TI and its great. Maybe in a year I will upgrade when the market gets more normal.
Honestly the market is great rn but if ur happy with it then it’s all good
So I shouldn't get a rtx 3060 ti from zotac? It seems to be the only one that drops close to msrp. Should I aim for the founders edition then?
Just look at reviews of it. That’s all I’m sayin. If it fits ur needs then it’s all good
idk if i should wait for aftermarket cards or just buy the reference 7900xtx. it already looks so sexy imo. determining factor will be thermals as my current system runs at roughly 35 decibels at full load
Damn that’s quiet. Yeah the card looks great and the TDP is pretty low so it might be cool and quiet, but I guess we’ll see

I wouldn't be suggesting that people look for "good deals" on ex crypto mining cards! If the card was used for mining even 50% off isn't a good deal! Avoid like the plague!
My previous gtx 1070 was mined on and worked great. They’re honestly fine just check with the seller to see if they were kept in a good environment without being over locked and all should be good.
I would only start to get a little shaky if it was mined on for over a year

Lol buy it just just to rip the cooler off. Well played

@@phr3ui559 most GPUs have three kind of boards.
Custom PCB: where companies use their own unique PCBs.
Founders PCB: the PCB that the GPU company maker uses.

I preemptively bought a GPU waterblock that only fits reference pcbs. Zotac is one of the companies that uses Reference PCBs.
The tuf model isnt a low end card from asus the only main differences between the tuf and strix is the looks and how far they boost the boot can easily be achieved with a little overclock. Bue yea i do agree with evrything else
In the 3080 lineup from asus, what’s lower than the tuf? It’s similar to like the gigabyte eagle, also gigabytes low end card, which also performed great.
@@vextakes yes it is indeed cheaper but its performance is about the same as the strix the main difference is price and looks
Lol that price is what makes it their low end card. It’s like buying the baseline iPhone, that is the low end iPhone compared to what else they offer
One of the main points I made in the video is despite the tuf being a low end card, it was an underdog that completely surpassed expectations. If it woulda been more clear I coulda called it “asus’ low cost option” it just doesn’t ring as nice
@@vextakes true but what do you mean by dosent ring as nice

Is the Zotac set to a higher voltage? Have you looked at the voltage tables?
No it’s not I also undervolt end it and it still ran quite hot. But I was able to get it to not throttle
@@vextakes Could it be the sink does not actually lies on the GPU's heat spreader surface? Even miniscule distance between them could be an issue. Could the sink+ cooler actually be inadequate? And finally, it could happen that the frame around the GPU core is at a higher elevation than the GPU core's surface. Again, could be a miniscule difference. If all fails, you could try to apply a Kraken G12, may need to do a tiny custom work.
@@Kyanzes some ppl are suggesting copper shims to improve temps. That would prolly work idk tho. I’m not gonna mess with it

Asus Dual 6600 XT is Great too, very well build
a couple things to factor in here what is your build whats the pc case there in hows your airflow setup theres alot of different factors plus none of this was shown benchmarking this is all just stuff your saying so it can only be taken at face value.....u mentioned gamer nexus but he atleast does teardown reviews and benchmarks.......ideally you should be showing actual numbers by showing how hot its running and doing benchmarks or atleast showing how it runs under a normal load
I showed the performance under normal load. It’s pretty typical for ur gpu to be completely maxed out in graphically demanding games.
The main takeaway from this video was to show that not every aib card is right for u, and to do ur research on what one is. Even though I’m not putting the zotac gpu in perfectly ideal situations, they are realistic situations for any normal person. Most ppl aren’t gonna be able to spend another $150 on a high airflow case, most ppl aren’t gonna be able to afford a bunch of new fans, and most ppl are not gonna run their systems on an open air bench like gamers nexus. The asus tuf card out performed the zotac by 10 degrees in my circumstances, while running way quieter. Don’t get me wrong I think benchmarking videos are great because they show u a gpu models place in the market. That’s what pushed me to the asus instead.
Also this is not a gpu review video, it is a commentary video. If it was a review I would have titled it so
I am on 2080ti zotac.. My pc would auto shutdown when playing apex on 1440 high setting.. Lowered it down a bit, the fan bearing already got broken twice in two years.. God damn.
Jesus man that sucks.
Gamers Nexus always were a bit autistic. They tend to miss forest for the trees and get obsessed over technicalities while missing the essence. They for example managed to review Scythe Ninja 5 cooler and completely missed the point of a cooler which advertises itself as dead silent. They reviewed it on temperatures and then complained that it is bad... Like, it takes talent to be such bad of a reviewer.
there are two versions of the 6900xt one is locked and the other is unlocked msi also sells both version
Are you comparing used to new? Put that new card in mining farm full load 24/7 for 2 years and see what will happen to it assuming it will survive for that long.
Both were used. Surprisingly the asus card just had it’s plastic peel still on
Yeah I have a Zotac Rtx 3070 ti Trinity and it gets extremely loud and really hot
i run an amp holo 3080ti and it never goes over 75c under load
Maybe u got lucky? Or they fixed it with the ti idk

Yo great video
Im so sad i see this 2 weeks after i bought the rx 6600 xt biostar

Idk man
how about msi? I always used msi , their 1060 , rx580, 1660 ti, and now 3060. I think i trust msi
They’re usually Ight. Idk a whole ton but on the 3080s they cheaper out on their VRMs so the coolers were over built but the chip couldn’t even justify the cooling. But that means they just ran quiet which is nice
@@vextakes right 3080 use same cooler . So I should not worry hahahah 😅
I'd try a .875mV underclock at 1920-1950MHz. That's what I run on my EVGA 3080Ti most of the time and it's really marginal in terms of performance. You should see a dramatic improvement in temps though. I can't speak to any personal experience with Zotac, but I've always felt the notion to avoid Zotac, Gigabyte, and PNY. I've seen a far greater percentage of people with issues surrounding those partners versus the others available.
I did
I have the same card... its water-cooled now and its not total ass ^^
It looks like the Zotac AMP HOLO 3080 heatsink is almost completely covered by the RGB on the side, terrible card design. You can tell it would be bad just by looking at it.
Yep no pass thru
My strix 3090 oc with the stock cooler can overclock to 3090 ti performance. I could have just won silicon lottery tho but I somehow outperform or get equal perf to people with 12900k and 3090ti while I just have 11900k and 3090 lol. Usually yeah you wanna get a cheaper higher tier GPU than a expensive lower tier but sometimes price and quality can make a difference when price is right. I’d definitely rather have a 3090 strix oc than a Founders 3090ti.
Nice. Especially with the 3090ti because it used the same chip as the 3090, it was just binned so they perform better on average
@@vextakes pretty much tho TI does have like 250 more cuda cores, 2 more RT cores, and 8 more tensor cores but really that’s not much of a difference especially for the ridiculous price they were asking at release haha. But yeah the biggest thing was the higher memory clock. The GPU clock wasn’t nothing special cause a decent 3090 could hit all the same things. My 3090 just gets ridiculous GPU and Memory clocks. I got it at 2000mhz GPU clock and 20.5gb/s memory clock and I still got some wiggle room. The memory clock isn’t quite up to 3090ti but that and the GPU clock definitely gets it altogether in the realm of stock or conservative oc perf on some Ti’s. I thought it was normal OC perf till I saw some streams of people with 3090ti’s and “was like uhh is there something wrong with your setup lol” then I decided to do benchmarking and looked at other 3090 benchmarks and was like “ohh hell yeah!”. I really wanna see what a waterblock and active backplate waterblock could make it do.
i was gonna say just buy more fans for your case then i realise those rfans would be equivalent to the difference in price like a good 3 fan argb run u about 50US US
Yeah fans are $$$
Maybe I could make a vid on that cos everyone always recommends the best quality fans and to have like 4-6 but that costs a lot
@@vextakes for blk friday I wanted to buy least 4 fans but it came totalling 50 plus ,so instead I bought a case with 4 argb fans and gave my friend the brand new case with my old non rgb fans, case and fans were same price
I found many of these Trinity edition 3080s in used market, now I know why... Luckily I didn't buy one of those I got RX 6700 XT in very good deal ... Almost less than 3060 price.. so I went for that
Yeah they were flooding eBay, musta been the first ones ppl were sellin off cos I don’t see them much anymore
ive had a shit ton of 30 series cards and the best one ive owned is my current msi suprimx 3090ti. temp never goes over 60 and i mean never. its also very very quiet while in perf mode. even when you put fans at 100% its still very quiet. i simply just leave it stock and dont oc as there is no need to adjust anything on it at all. hands down the best one for sure. i put fans to 100 once just to see how loud they were and i was thoroughly impressed. enjoy your new card bud. oh before i forget, dont buy zotac as they are trash. im sure you know that now though.
Yeah I saw the suprimx I don’t think the fan rpm is that high and the power limit is pretty low. But that’s kinda irrelevant cos these cards don’t really need OC, so the MSI is great.
Lol Ik zotac is trashy now. Ig they only make decent low-end cards
no my friend no zotacs at all. not even low end as they all use inferior parts etc. zotac is just trash period.
that thing gets so hot wtf
i have a fkng chinese 2060s with dubious construction and it runs at max 73 degrees
never bought zotac cards for a good reason lmao. but so sad evga gotta pull out cuz they were so good.
I see you are an Overwatch 2 enjoyer, or might I say Overwatch 2 sufferer?
Depends on the day 😂
Wbu
My Gigabyte RTX 3070 Gaming OC with undervolting and slight mhz boost goes 55-60c. Ez.
A-zos tough 💀
*A-Zoooos
this is the video i watchd
returned a 3070 aorus master and got a palit gamingpro 3070 instead. same exact performance and it runs 20 degrees cooler. aorus one would be hovering over 80 degrees on warzone and this palit one is at 60-65 and runs quieter. didn't expect palit to be as good but damn it surpassed my expectations by a mile.
Palit/Gainward as well as Colorful often make really solid cards in regards to thermals.
are you sure you didn’t have it in silent mode
@@phr3ui559 nope, even if it was in silent, it was rated to run at around 40 degrees idle and below 70. The fans would ramp up to 1600-1800RPM and still temperatures were too high for my liking
I had an rtx 3070ti Zotac Amp holo and it was one of the worst video cards ive ever owned(i change my gpus between a month and a year, cause i like testing them-now i have a 2080 super windforce;ps: very happy). It ran at 80 degrees with stock fan speed (with thermal grizzly kryonaut) and closed case and it was loud af. It oc pretty well but i had to max fan speed and keep the case open, the memory even without oc reached 92-94 degrees...i mean for a 295w stock and 310w oc it was stupid I had a 1080ti aorus oc run at 350-375w and run cooler and quieter..
Before I watch it all I'm going to go out on a limb and say the zotac GPU is the bad one
Yep.. I had a 980ti from Zotac top end. It was shite, so hot. Tripple fan setup.. I got rid of it and a little while later I got an EVGA 980to SC ... Dual fans.. cooled so much better than the Zotac. Terrible company for making coolers. And they haven't yet learnt how to. Shocking
My man can tell the future
Haha if only. Appreciate the video
dont buy zotac if you can help it, rocking msi 4090 suprim x here, runs cool and undervolts lovely
I never trusted zotac. Call me silly but I think it just sounds like a cheap knock off brand.
Asus on the other hand. Now thats a quality name. (Have a 3080 tuf myself)
No I bet all of Zotacs gpus run worse than their counterparts
