I was a GM for Perkins and can say after attending a national GM gathering in Minnesota, prior to the Huddle House acquisition, my question on "how do we get new customers" was avoided and left unanswered. Further, ideas were quickly dismissed and an "old guard" mentality ruled the roost. After being hammered with the GPH (Guest Per Hour) philosophy and shut down on any creative or innovative ideas that would generate new and/or renewed interest (profits) in the restaurants and the products they deliver, I departed the company. I swallowed my pride and took those ideas and created a thriving business in Florida. So, my time at Perkins was at least an experience that led to greener pastures.
I'm glad to hear you have a successful business. Sorry Perkins didn't want to learn from employees that were closer to customers, or try new good suggestions.
I love Perkins!! My sisters worked there as waitresses when I was a kid. We would have our birthday parties there too ! The Perkins in my city shut down years ago but I’m so happy to find one when I go out of town .
The food at Perkins Leesburg, Florida has good food but the worst service. When I ate there, it always took at least an hour to even get the order taken. After that it was as long to get the food. Sad at such poor management. I quite trying to enjoy their food.
The Perkins down the street from where I currently live was one of the stores the franchise wasn't paying their royalties for. It didn't close luckily, but they did remodel it. It didn't get closed because it was always busy, even at night.
Ottawa Canada Perkins food has gone downhill. Went there on Father's Day 2024 and we thought it was closed but it was just empty. Food was a bit okay but not like it used to be. Last three times has been a disappointment so we aren't going back, but they did take off the greasy horrible hash browns off my bill. The syrup is not syrup...it's watered down corn syrup I'm guessing and has no taste. The butter is tasteless so not sure what they are using...the french toast was gross etc. Service wasn't good either for it being empty. Had to wait 10 mins for so called butter and by then the pancakes were cold so it didn't even spread properly. HAPPY FATHERS DAY!
Perkins reminds me of my midwestern childhood. Many family gatherings and outings with friends. During high school we would hang out at Walmart or when we had extra money- Perkins! Wish we had Perkins out here on the West Coast.
All the Perkins around my area have closed, when, my Mom and stepdad were first getting together and, their early yrs of marriage we used to make a. 40 minute trip to go over to the Florence Kentucky location area, to get a omelets, they used to have the best breakfast and omelets around! That is when, mom was still working in the restaurant business and, mom didn’t cook late at night, never, once she got off of work! I loved the omelets at Perkins, I about never ate anything else there!
My maiden name is Perkins, and I used to tell my dad I was gonna walk into Perkins restaurant with my birth certificate, and ask them if I could get s free meal, lol
I grew up with a girl who went to my school and we went to the same church together, she to had the last name Perkins as well, before Perkins restaurant chain ever came to be!
We went to perkins a few times in 1990s. Our mom went there for lunch with her office friends every so often because it was a close drive frim her office.
Our Perkins serves food SO slow, cold, and not prepared as ordered it is difficult to understand how it remains open. I have not visited it in 16 months. How does Corporate fix that?
Getting someone to wait on you at the Norfolk Nebraska branch is next to impossible, have tried on 4 occasions. Will Not go in for a meal. Check your meal if you get take out, they are good but make sure you have it all and it's correct. 😊
I went to Perkins with my father today. OMG, the prices were asinine...even the 55+ menu was way over priced. A 3 stack of pancakes, I kid you not... $8.79, that's is just out right robbery. Of, course I chose not to get them. I've made pancakes at home many times... they cost pennies. I'm not surprised they are going under. I ordered a club soda (carbonated water)...$3.49....my father's tea.. he only had one cup...$3.49. I'll never go there again. There's an IHOP here. After 3 pm they have a 6-8 dollar menu. You can get a burger with fries or onion rings for $8.00... a 3 egg ham and cheese omelette with 3 pancakes $7.00. And anyways... the corn tasted like the butter in it was old..like been sitting in the cooler all night. The baked potato was obviously kept in the steamer or heat source too long. Yeah, I'm never going there again.
I am always surprised how many times their side menus change. However, their regular menu seems pretty much unchanged. To me, that seems like a good approach. I have had other items from time to time, but yes, I always go there for breakfast regardless of the time of day. Property loss is not funny, at all, however the fires were probably set by customers who did not get their food served properly cooked, or on time. There is only one Perkins I like to frequent, but I think that is because of the server I always get.
Last time I visited Perkins was in eastern Washington state on my way to Montana and I wasn’t that impressed with my food! Prior to that they were always great!
THAT'S what happened to the one in Maplewood! I live a few blocks from it and was wondering what had happened. Shortly before it closed, it was closing at 7pm and then one day... *poof* Closed!
Tbh I go to Perkins for it’s old fashioned recipes. I think their analysis of “outdated menus” was kind of wrong / likely influenced by some management consulting engagement
Perkins Mason City Iowa location just closed Permanently, Look it up, nearly a majority of the Remaining Perkins are disgusting, out dated, and not maintained properly, i suspect this is the case with other locations as well
Many years ago when parkins restaurants were in Minneapolis minnesota. One was on river side Avenue of Eastside near the Mississippi River. I want their for Thanksgiving. The service people didn't pay any attention to me? I sat there for over an hour! I left never becoming back! It comply closed down several many years later! The service needs to appreciate the all people coming there! No this angered tribal native American! I wouldn't go there! Have a great fabulous wonderful day.
I go to Perkins occasionally for lunch. Some of their sandwich creations look so disgusting and unappetizing, and that description really doesn't do justice to the level of unhinged these things are. There's photos of giant burgers with eggs, bacon, sausage, beef, and mountains of melted cheese coagulated in a heap of gunk that looks 10,000 calories. Google "decked out double burgers" and you'll see what I mean. And is it too much to ask for healthier menu options in general at any restaurant these days? I barely see veggies in anything anymore.
We went to a Perkins for dinner tonight and our waiter reeked of weed. He did a fine job and didn’t forget anything, but I can’t believe his boss didn’t know.
As a current Perkins cook/ex pothead, I can assure you his boss 100% knew and was probably out back toking it up with him during down time. A lot of restaurant employees smoke weed.
What do you think of Perkins' food?
I think their food is very 👍
The food was great years ago.. Now the food sucks.
Went there a lot when I used to eat breakfast. Now just occasionally for lunch.
Ohio
I see Perkins restaurants all over the place.

I remember going here around 2005, the pizza my brother got still had the sticker from the store or distributor on the bottom.
Our Perkins burnt down, too! They rebuilt and I honestly don’t even know why

I liked it when i lived in minnesota but now living in california...i miss it,it was good back in 2010
Im sorry to hear all the fires.
6 years being out of business is a long time for that one location.
I wish Perkins the best to continue.
Perkins is 1 of my favorites. Love their menu & bakery.
$14.00 for eggs is not sustainable in this country and the food is bad
I worked at a Perkins in Montgomery, Ohio caught fire in 2002.
All the Perkins around my area have closed, when, my Mom and stepdad were first getting together and, their early yrs of marriage we used to make a. 40 minute trip to go over to the Florence Kentucky location area, to get a omelets, they used to have the best breakfast and omelets around! I live in Idaho Falls Idaho and Perkins is the busiest place in town. The food and service are consistently great.
My local Perkins in Avondale, Pennsylvania is SLAMMED on the weekends. Every time I go it's a 5 to 20 minute wait.
I miss the tangler burger, fries and a slice of pie for 10$ out the door
For a limited time they have the Burger fries and pie. But they are 10.99-14 ish dollars.
I have a Perkins at my home town, and they are so nice.
I really hope they don’t shut down completely
My new idea open stores in Pasco fla, Georgia, and California
My maiden name is Perkins, and I used to tell my dad I was gonna walk into Perkins restaurant with my birth certificate, and ask them if I could get s free meal, lol

We had a Perkins near us YEARS ago. My family and I loved it. Sadly, it closed years ago! 😢 It wasn't here very long.
Perkins food comes out of a box. I can make that at home.
Never heard of Perkins
Its struggling because they took away the twinberry syrup for their pancakes!

It’s my dads favorite restaurant for breakfast

By me, IHOP is way overpriced and Perkins is better and also has a lot of weekly deals
You'd be better off, some of us know what exactly is in most of that food and they have zero care for the quality of any of it.

The real answer is Tiger Woods insatiable lust for Perkins’ waitstaff single-handedly kept them afloat.
Does the voice disturb anyone else? It’s very uncomfortable to listen to for me
Omg Edinboro mentioned!!!
Perkins may need to have a few influencers promote their restaurant .
The truth is I don’t think about Perkins or it’s food. I haven’t been in one in years. The restaurant never appealed to me.
What rabbit hole did you go down to get to this video? 😂
Tbh I go to Perkins for it’s old fashioned recipes. I think their analysis of “outdated menus” was kind of wrong / likely influenced by some management consulting engagement
Perkin's has the BEST pancakes!

Perkins is still in Minneapolis
pilot/flying J stopped using them.
lol I used to work for them in 2001

❤
Never heard of it
Years ago the food was great... Now the food simply SUCKS !!!
Maybe because I never heard of them.
We went to a Perkins for dinner tonight and our waiter reeked of weed. He did a fine job and didn’t forget anything, but I can’t believe his boss didn’t know.

Literally Never Been There My Whole Life 😂
I missed the potato pancakes from Perkins
whats the pay
It's way too price for what they serve.
The food is not good
It used be dried bacon
Brown salad lettuce
There breakfast is under rated
The reason Perkins is failing is because it's f'king boring.
Wayzata is pronounced Why-Zetta
Basically, they did everything wrong...
The people in the kitchen cannot cook. Either the food is over cooked or not cooked at all.
