Your video actually helped me discover that I had a 1" nodule on my thyroid. I watched tons of other videos and wasn't able to distinguish my thyroid from other structures in my throat. I looked in the mirror and pushed aside the strap muscles and saw the nodule. Then I felt around and realized that what I was feeling wasn't symmetrical to the other side. I had it biopsied last week and I'm awaiting results on that and my bloodwork. I was tested for TPO antibodies amongst many other things. I know this video is meant to help medical students but it helped me, a regular person! Thank you for making this very thorough, very descriptive video. You may have saved my life.

I've been a nurse for 28 years and an APN for over 3 and was taught to view and palpate the gland anteriorly---however I still was still unable to really see/feel it. This video and explanation is the best---thank you, thank you thank you! I plan to pass on this technique and video to my APN students.

Hello, I am Hyunjung a Korean medical student. I am taking KMLE in next Jan. I was wondering if there is a way I can quickly examine a thyroid gland by anteriorly approaching patients. Thank you so much for the video. It helped me a lot :)

Thank you, that was helpful! Great how we can spend years wondering if we're the only ones pretending to do a good exam....

I can see my thyroid without moving the muscles. Is that normal? There's also a lump on the right side that moves when I swallow.
