Oh wow what absolutely stunning john deere tractors and the biggest acreages i love the challenger too which would be over here in the ik the CLAAS challenger in white green and red and still as stunning as with their big 8900 combines love it all i shall watch this vid over and over well done for the great filming and information from the challenger driver very interesting...regards chris in the UK....
I would love to see a tour of this farmers shop.. To see how he stores and maintains all that awesome equipment would be a treat. Love seeing them out in the fields of course, but all of that would not happen without all of that great equipment being serviced and maintained... Must go thru a few gallons of fuel during that single day of running all that equipment!
A special episode. Big farming operation. Many high hp tractors and brands. Many acres of beautiful farmland with rich soil. Good interview in the cab of the traked Challenger. Reminds me of a Caterpillar D9 bulldozer. IMHO i like the wheeled tractors as far as appearance goes, they look better those big JD's with big yellow wheels with and huge black rubber tires. Enjoyed very much, thank you BTP 🚜🇺🇸👍
It is so interesting listening to Billy explain things, he answers so many questions I have had like how often he has to change disk blades and how deep the disc is running. I remember pulling a four bottom plow and we typically went about 4 or 5 inches deep. It was not even possible to get 20 acres a day, even a long day. Once the field was plowed, in a sandy loam, we would run a disc with less offset than the Wishek and maybe cut 2 or 3 inches deep to smooth the field. We could cover 100 acres in a day but again that was after it took 5 days to plow the field and we never got any deeper than the Wishek and although the tractor was only 60 or so horsepower I am sure the fuel usage per acre then was more than it is now. Thanks for the informative interview, you do a great job and had a great man to interview.
I really appreciate your 'on the ground' videos, and that you limit your use of drones. Fantastic! You outdid yourself with the closeup of the disks, that was great. I always tell myself I'm only going to watch the first few minutes, but, dang it, it's always so interesting i watch the whole thing.
Since you often get to film at this farm I was thinking maybe doing an interview with the owner or owners about the history of their operation and perhaps a tour as well would make a great video:)

Its gonna change these peoples lives when they start using high speed disks. Less overhead and faster planting all around better really cool to see a large outfit start using them, the ground gets worked so much faster with less tractors. He's I think really gonna like them disks., he should at least have someone demo lend one to him to use with that quad-track or challenger. :D

@@bigtractorpower awesome. I think we all would be in farming heaven if you could mount cameras in everything . and just film it all .. And maybe how they go about hiring people for the farm . thanks.
This was great info from Billy as since i've had spinal surgeries i thought going from my 8970 on triples to a T9.615 on high idler tracks would be a good move but it has been a disaster so i had planned on getting a DT550 out for fall work on demo but we're still at harvest. I'd also wondered about single tracks like the Challenger or the JD
Liked, I know better than to argue with success. Just curious why they don't no-till the wheat into the corn stalks? Or have they ever tried no-till wheat? I'm a regular, so I know they follow wheat with no-till beans. Then corn.. Again, not trying to argue. Just would like their take on no-till wheat behind corn.
There's too much corn residue left on the field if it's not worked up. Both corn and wheat crops are susceptible to Fusarium pathogens so it helps to work up the ground and reduce the amount of available trash for the pathogen to exist on
As John Deere oreanted as this operation seems to be these Wishek disks must be something pretty special to have that whole fleet ! I have to ask if I can. Hopefully I can do that this winter. I have driven my tractor around the farm and you can see much of it in the video @ ua-cam.com/video/huSfOW2pARY/v-deo.html
Here our average yields are 90-100 bu. All this wheat ground will be planted into a second crop of soybeans in June. The soybeans are harvested in October and will produce 40-60 bu depending on how much summer rain occurs.
Dang, those guys harrowing look like they need new teeth after running across the disked ground.. they ever think about adding a drag to back of disk to help tame the clumps before the harrow hits??
One of the 26ft disks has tine harrows on it. They really do not accomplish much. The field really gets fluffed up by the disks which does make a bumpy ride. The harries really smooth it out as the drills cruise right across it to seed.
@@bigtractorpower i was meaning more for the harrow operators, but i see what you are saying, with as much dirt as they turn, a drag right behind disk wont do much. We have an old 331 deere "plow disk" that does the same thing. Makes it clumpy and hard to drive over right behind.

Great video. Love to watch the Wisheks. Far cry from my Dad putting me on a Massey Harris with a 7’ disk. No umbrella.
The good old days 😁. A dairy I grew up had two Massey Harris 44s and two Case 970s. I have always liked Massey Harris.
Is this the 2,800-acre field? These disks make the memory of my Grandpa's 3-row disk seem like a toy now.
It is the same farm. This field is about 8 miles from the 2,800 acre field. I would say they had about 200 acres in this field.

I doubt this operation is going to keep a disc around long enough to have to change bearings.
