I’m at stage 3 rectal cancer. Going for my treatment soon! Hope it recovers well. I’m 26 years old btw. No family history of cancer at all. Cancer comes at any age.
What was your symptoms? I think I need to be checked over
James Maple blood in my stool. Had it for months and it comes and go. I thought it was normal or maybe I ate something too spicy. But 1 night it was terrible, pass motion with lots of blood and it wasn’t painful at all. You should go for check up if you have this symptoms. Do not take it lightly

MaLiJiMa MaLiJiMa I’m ok but not ok. I will start my 5 weeks plus Radiation therapy followed by surgery then another 5 weeks plus Chemotherapy. Long process for recovery I guess and I hope no complication during the surgery. All those will start by next week

My mother was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in the summer of 2020. She had the tumors removed and started chemotherapy soon after. She did chemotherapy for a few months and her new diagnosis was that she was cancer free. In September 2021 she began to notice her stomach getting bigger and decided to go see what's going on. The doctor told her that she was having fluid leak into her abdomen and that they would have to pump the fluid and run test. The test came back saying the cancer had spread to her liver and parts of her stomach tissue. On November 13th 2021 my mother lost her battle with cancer at the age of 53. I encourage everyone to get their colonoscopy sooner rather than later. Spread awareness. You could save someone's life.

Unfortunately periodic colonoscopy testing is not enough. I have no risk factors, except that I am 72, have regularly had a colonoscopy and never any polyps. I was on a 10 year schedule. At about that time I was found to have 4th stage colon cancer. My medical record still says "low risk for colon cancer." The cancer took 1-2 years to develop, so even on a 5 year schedule for colonoscopy, had it started developing soon after the last test, I would be in the same situation I am in now. We just need more ways to test, more often, not rely what can be seen with human eyes in a colonoscopy or CT scan..
My husband got diagnosed 6 years ago with stage 3, he had 12 treatments, and cancer was gone, on less than 1 year cancer come back stage 4 , he had chemo treatments every another week, no operation possible, he had Mets to lungs ,liver only couple spots and Mets to spine L3 as he had radiation for that. -we had so many ups and downs in this horrible journey I was there for him from start till last breath he toke.. I was there for him in his worse days and good days- he went on hospice on our 14 year anniversary - he was on hospice for exactly one month and one day,
2 month ago he passed away peacefully at home, he made it 6 year survival with good care and support he needed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I had my surgery 7 months ago also have had chemotherapy for 6 months. I haven’t had the all clear yet! But during this period I’ve made so many friends and lost some new ones as well. When I hear of someone passing because of bloody cancer it makes me cry. Because This is so close to me and my situation. Let’s all hope that medicine and medical sciences can put a stop to all this. Science has improved drastically over the past few years and it’s only going to get better.

I just went to the doctor last week to do tests in my blood so they can see if there something wrong in my body ( lungs _ colon _ brain ) I was so worried about having colorectal cancer but thank God my body was okay ' good . I truly wish everyone that sees this gets colonoscopy. My mom was healthy went in hernia surgery and told stage 4 cancer out the blue. Total slap in face. I know a doctor had misdiagnosed her issue. I am 56 years old and I was discovered to be suffering stage 2 or 3 colon cancer when my doctor did a colonoscopy after I complained of constipation for over a year. He did a biopsy, blood marker test and a CT scan to confirm. This coming 22 Aug my doc will be cutting me up to remove the right side of my large intestine.

@@DamienXx27so…short version. The op I had was an emergency one as they’d been telling me it wouldn’t be cancer (the pain/inflammation in my intestines) & then it caused an emergency blockage. So the op wasn’t as thorough as if it had been a planned cancer op. Turns out I have Lynch syndrome & so chemo wasn’t the best option for me, apparently immunotherapy is better suited for Lynch patients. But NHS guidelines still suggest chemo if margins are clear.
Pains came bavk during chemo. Chemo stopped & scans taken. They couldn’t see an issue. Chemo restarted & I finished the course. First scans post chemo showed recurrance & spread. Cue another, much bigger op. Post op scan showed it had gone to my liver, cue 2 years of immunotherapy. I am 2 treatments from finishing & then a liver op &🤞🏻.

For over 6 months my wife kept on complaining about bloating and her inability to pass stool. I believed it was just constipation because we all do have this symptoms sometimes in our lives to be honest. Taking care of the kids with little help from her was the hardest part. Cannabis oil, dandelion root, essiac tea and any supplement I could find, i used them all just to give her more quality of life but they only stabled her condition.

Hi from the uk i had appointment cancelled back in march for rectal bleed lower back pain and folate low. Telephone appointment followed in may then in july heavy rectal bleeding bloot clots present in stool bloodtest i am anemic lower back pain stomach pain lost weight no appetite. Awaiting gastro appointment not looking good wish me luck im 35 by the way :-)

I had my first colonoscopy at age 40 and already had two precancerous polyps. The colonoscopy wasn't too bad at all. Lots of people are afraid of the colonoscopy and put off getting it done. I have a family history of colon cancer and my grandma lost a big part of her large intestine due to cancer. The inside of the colon cannot feel pain so often a cancer has no symptoms until later stages.
What was outcome after ur grandma surgery ?

@@pamj3817 I just had the polyps removed. I will have to have another colonoscopy in five years due to the polyps. They remove the polyps during the colonoscopy. The inside of the colon cannot feel pain so it is painless.

I had a colonoscopy about 18 months ago, they found a 2 cm polyp and extensive diverticular throughout the entire large bowel. They could only remove part of the polyp at the time of colonoscopy and wanted me to have a repeat colonoscopy the following day with a more experienced Dr to remove the rest of the polyp they partially removed the day prior. I didn't go back the next day as I was still feeling drained from the day before, in fact I still haven't gone back because I figured that polyps take years to grow and they had removed most of it anyway so putting it off for a little while wouldn't hurt. Should I be concerned or am I right in thinking it will take years to get big again? By the way the pathology showed nothing suspicious in the polyp.
polyps are dangerous get them remove asap.
Please go, I've just lost a classmate to this. You just never know when they pop up. Fine, the polyp removed was benign but that can also be a risk factor for the remaining cells to become cancerous.. Just go and get that surgery pliz

Great teaching illustrations and drawing... can I just point out... you mention that the colon is supplied by the IMA (Inferior Mesenteric Artery)… that is only partially correct.. as I am sure you know that IMA supplies Distal third of Transverse Colon to rectum... and the rest of the proximal colon is supplied by SMA (Superior Mesenteric Artery)

Agree - both SMA and IMA. Also, colonoscopies are typically done with MAC not general anesthesia.

I lost my gran to this disease. Many have lost their loved ones to this fatal disease. Please know your body and it's workings. Please go for a checkup if you feel your symptoms are familiar book an appointment. It's the second most deadliest cancer recorded in the U.S among the groups of younger people. However, Don't lose hope, It's highly treatable when diagnosed in the early stages.

I think your survival rates might be confusing. Some metastases like liver met has much higher 5-year survival rate than you state. Because surgery can be performed in selected cases with colon ca with liver met. Thank you great video!

I'm getting stomach pains on and off, on the right side of my stomach. was told it might be trapped wind, and to take 'Windease' which i did, and it cleard the pain for a while, but kept coming back , late at night. I've changed my diet and things are better, but not totally free of the slight ache which feels like the inner's have been cut or scratched. If it persists I will TRY and see my GP, probably after Xmas now,

You didn't mention tumors in the mid transverse colon, what would symptoms of this be? Would it be similar symptoms as tumors in the ascending colon or different again?
Does colon cancer always cause bleeding? I've had all the symptoms for 3 months now except for blood in the stool. I am literally freaking out right now. 😭

Im afraid😭 My sister also have blood in her stool, and constipation. We do not afford colonoscopy, I dont know what to do anymore

I need help my mother went for doctor thinking she got haemorrhoids she was done surgery but never got better after one month she went back to the same doctor who told her it was haemorrhoid told her she has some mucus or some blood clot in that part she done in her surgery again try to make mater worse after he had done some work their she went back home taking her antibiotics after 2days she saw some changes in the other part she urinat something like poop or mucus poop we went to other different hospitals to check he told us that she has rectovaginal fistula he took some tissue or some small meat from the anus the sick area he told us to come back for answ after a week he told my mother have cancer .
