This was so helpful!! I'm dating and indian man and he's invited me to a Diwali party and I'm trying to impress his family by showing respect for the culture so I'm going to dress traditional and this is helping me prepare so much!!
That's amazing! 🙌 I'm dating an Indian woman and I'm here because she looked SO GORGEOUS in her Diwali photos. I was like, "How - how does that work?!😦 " 🤣
The idea sounds sweet but please do practice wearing a saree and just moving around, going about doing regular things for a few hours because sarees can be a handful initially.

Quick tip: Wear your dress shoes before draping the saree to get the right level above the ground, otherwise the saree might hover too high or low from the ground and you might need to drape again
This is the clearest saree tutorial I've seen in my few days of searching, and I greatly appreciate the amount of detail you went into. I'm using it to dress a handmade doll to be gifted to a young Indian girl I'm friends with. She was adopted when she was 5, and she's always felt a little disconnected, so I'm trying to make it as authentic and meaningful as possible. Thanks to this tutorial, I'm confident that it will at least be dressed properly!

Thank you for this video. I recently attended a friend's wedding at a Gurdwara and I wanted to make sure I wore the saree correctly. I managed to drape the saree by myself and my friend's family commented that I had draped it well. Excellent tutorial!
I couldn't believe that I draped pleats so perfectly on my own after seeing this video of yours.. 😀 So grateful to you for making this one.. I used to get panic attacks whenever I needed to wear a saree. Although I love to carry them but always dreaded to wear it on my own. Thanks to your lovely videos, I wore it nicely. ❤️

Oh my God before I was thinking that to wear a saree is so hard, when I seen this video I am so shocked that to wear a saree is so easy and thank you very much for teaching me how to wear a saree.
This was very helpful. Im currently writing a Novel with a female Indian MC, so I'm trying to get a good grip on the fashion aspect of the culture. This way I can describe how each fabric clothing is put on accurately. So thank you for the demonstration. =)
Nice! For casual clothes for the Indian MC, I suggest putting her in a kurta/kurti. Very common traditional dress in India that is worn casually among women and girls.
Hi Tia . Thank you ❤️ I was invited to wear a saree at a dear friends engagement party My anxiety was through the roof for days untill I came across your tutorials. I was able to do the drape beautifully on the day. I felt secure and comfortable and so privileged to have to opportunity to wear a saree. I got so many compliments on the night ( especially my pleats )
Thank you for this video! My uncle (non blood related but found family) whos Indian is getting married soon and i just got my saree in! This tutorial made it a breeze to learn! I need more practice but my first try wasnt half bad at all! Im so excited for his wedding and even more so now because i feel much more confident in my saree pleating skills!
Thank you from a fellow south Asian Canadian! I have a cotton saree that I have no idea how to fold. The pleats especially were boggling my mind. This was definitely a big help ❤️
I thought I was good at it. I did it in the same way. But..... the one pleat that u did on the left side with the left over fabric ....mind blowing...❤️❤️❤️...that really makes u the pro😘😘loved it.
I wear saree almost every day and was taught by my late mom in law. I have a saree from almost every region of India (Courtesy my friends) and I enjoy nothing more than donning a new saree. I could never teach my daughters as well as your video. Gonna forward it to my girls now. And I am a Pakistani and am proud earliest saree clad ancestor was from Mohenjodaro. Wish this region wasn't so divided.

Pin closer to the top, and tuck it in.
You can use 2 pins. The first one put it as she does and the second one from behind the under skirt so only a little bit of the pin will be seen.
buy a sari pin , plus it wont damage the fabric and its okay if its visible
