Impressive! Thank you for doing all of the leg work, tips & solutions. I mean, to me, it does not sound that different from a new pro model Contrabass Clarinet for roughly a 1/3 of the price. I'm a Baritone Sax player, Bass Clarinet is my 2nd & Bass flute is my third. I always wanted a Contrabass instead of replacing my old beat up Bass Clarinet. For the sound, great price & tech set-up, it's worth it, to me, and will be my next purchase. Again, Thank you!
happy to help! everyone I've played it for has been pleasantly surprised. Great value instrument for the price. I'm hoping to have another update with the repairers perspective coming out sometime soon 👍
Hi Brendan. I have been following your journey with this contrabass clarinet. I have had a vito contrabass for a little bit now, and I really am looking for a low c option without paying a huge amount or finding a low C Leblanc paper clip. Any updates on the horn? It has a great tone, but I’m still nervous about buying one if it’s not holding up. I’m a low clarinet specialist and ocarinist.
Hey Tim, it's holding up great. apologies for the lack of updates, it's been one lockdown after another so there haven't been any clarinet choir rehearsals to go to since this one. I've used it in a few recording projects, got a new mouthpiece for it and it's holding it's adjustment in the case very well. I'd highly recommend it as a great value instrument!
Hello Brendan. I'm from London UK. Thanks for the videos on the contrabass purchase. They were so brilliant!!! I am trying to order one from that Tianjin Frater company. What payment method did you use? Did you pay them the whole sum in one go? Anything I should be aware of?
I used a Western Union transfer, best to organise it by messaging them directly than going through Alibaba. Had to pay the whole amount plus postage, there were a few red flags that I was worried about at the time but it eventually arrived so don't worry! haha
Hello Brendan. I have received mine a month ago. A couple of minor problems only. Considered the very long journey and potential mishandling by the couriers, it was found to be in a spectacular shape. The bottom C connection lever between the descending and ascending tubes was slightly jammed. It has been easily sorted by pulling the tubes apart by a couple of millimetres. I also found the very top vent key was slow when switching between Bb and B over the register. It has also been fixed by turning an adjustment screw somewhere on the key rod connecting to the bottom G/D key. So I am indeed over the moon! A million thank-you's from London!!!
You got that horn tuned up and sounding real buttery 👌
It's sounding great now, so much better than when you first played it out of the box.

Did you end up ordering and receiving it?
@@dxing97 Only just placed my order (finally!). Really don't feel that secure. We'll see. Now 2 months wait including shipping.

Is there anywhere I can listen to the group?
Really? Alexander’s Ragtime Band.
Thank you! Fixed! 👍
