    I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

    Good video Matt, in socal, I rarely get bit on anything other than a silent bait. All lakes here are mostly clear to gin clear and lots of pressure. Thanks for the excellent content. Blessings

    As for jerking, the Finisher and the BR are virtually identical. The BR can be fished in more applications such as bottom contact as a jig or as a hover bait. The Finisher on the other hand, has more drawing power b/c of the flash and randomized action given that you know how to make it not snag itself.

    I have started using silent jerkbaits in gin clear northern smallmouth lakes for the last 4 years or so. I only know of two brands and models that make a true suspending silent jerkbait with no rattles or weight transfer systems. No rattle floating jerkbaits with a ton of lead added just aren't the same action wise. Great tip.

    I won't even throw a full sized jerkbait with rattles anymore. My whole jerkbait case of provokes and visions mostly are 90% silent ones these days. Just because like you said, you don't hardly get fish to commit anymore on noisy ones.
    But my real jerkbait secret is that I have downsized them, dramatically. I've started using really small almost bfs style jerkbaits and throwing them on spinning gear mostly. I've started using the vision 95's, the x nanahan, the 2 hook lucky craft, the lil duo rozante shad, etc. And then the other part of my jerkbait secret is that I've been experimenting with different "suspending" crankbaits and using them like jerkbaits. A really kinda hidden bait I don't hardly see anyone use is the megabass IxI type 3, and the flap slap. The IxI was originally supposed to be a crankbait, but it suspends and its got a really unique shad shaped body that they don't see often. you can fish it like a jerkbait and it flashes and rolls, it's really cool. And then you can also crank rock with it but I prefer the IxI TX deep diver to crank rock..... it slaps, smallmouth destroy it.

    Yes, I have been using silent crank baits almost totally for at least 12 years, the exception is very dirty (muddy) water. About seven years ago I started purchasing silent Jerkbaits, my first one was Elegy Bone ( the very best color ever) by Megabass. I fish silent baits most of the time and I don't see any difference between silent and rattling baits.

    I’ve always thrown jerkbaits year round and had great success. The regular 110 line was the only silent version megabass made. Which sucks when they are biting a plus 1 or xnanahan that doesn’t have a silent version. But how silent can they really be with the hooks banging into the bait and the knock of the weight transfer? I think it’s more the sound than anything else. Just it putting off less sound is something different for the fish. It’s kinda of like a buzz bait without that squeal your not catching anything. Sometimes unique sounds is enough to trigger strikes I’ve played around with it for years with varying degrees of success. It seems to me the deeper more finesse baits have been the hot ticket as of late.

    🍺For me use JERKBAIT sound in murky water, rough water, low light situations, around feeding bass, around thick cover/grass and always in the rain. Silent in clear water, blue bird calm, open water with minimal cover and or when you need to generate a reaction bite because the bass are not actively feeding. You need to surprise the bass🤠.

    I would like to know your thoughts on replacing Lead material rattles for Plastic rattles within a lures body?
    Please give me your feedback. Thanks.👍👍

  • @DanielBoone337
    @DanielBoone337 4 місяці тому +1

    I definitely agree the same thing happens with any bait that makes sound or puts off vibration... it seems like under certain conditions you want your bait to be as quiet as possible.
    Side note those hooks that come on the Stunna are freaking ridiculous. I just started playing around with those and right out the package i almost couldn't put it down on my work bench because the hooks kept catching on my hands. Im assuming those are the fusion hooks?? I ordered some in bigger sizes to check them out because i was impressed. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

    Bass are getting conditioned to lure sound, motors, presentation styles, nearly everything. Lately I’ve had a little luck rigging plastics in nonconventional colors and in nonconventional ways. We’re only slightly smarter than bass but use the edge and be creative.
