So lovely, Suzi to see your Apple tree and vines, going to provide you with lots of fruit in Summer. Apple crumble? MMM! Lovely weather to dry your floor, and clever you with shower connection, under the stars!! Kitties, curious, and such a comfort to have around! Slowly but surely, home improving and yellow tulips for happiness! 💐🐞🦋🐝🐦Thankyou for saving the bee!🌼
I do love apple crumble. The shower works great. It’s so warm now I can just leave the water in the plastic Gerry container during the day and it’s the perfect temperature by the end of the day. It’s very lovely having the cats around for company. They keep me entertained for sure 😀💕
Look I love my home more than any place in the world. When I come back I always say a thank you to my lord for my precious house and home. I have lived in my home my only home for 24 years. I love it always. Every morning I pinch myself that I got blessed with my home.
Haha, the royal 'we' whenever you talk about what the tradespeople are doing! The floor is lovely, your home is coming together very nicely & well done putting up the shower - yes, you can say 'l' did that, not we because you did.
Annie, I think I say ‘we’ as of course I have a lot of involvement in everything that is going on. I might not physically be doing the work but mentally I am 😂
@@dreamlifeportugal Haha, yes, it must be exhausting doing it all mentally but the end result will be so lovely for you it'll be worth it. You're collecting quite a few cats too 😸😻😺😼
The seed looks like a Canna seed. They are tough and we do the same with them, rub a bit of the outer coating off or soak in water for a few days. 'In the wild' so to speak the seed coating would be broken down in the soil after a period of time, some seeds get their husks broken down going through an animals digestive system. Giving it a file just speeds up the process a bit.

Morning Glory seeds are the same way. I think it's so the outer seed covering breaks down over a longer term, so the seeds might last in the soil for more than one year.
The above statement is true for quite a number of seeds. But it can also be that some seeds need to be eaten by birds or other animals and pass through their intestinal tract the thick outer coating helps protect the seed while doing so and when the seed comes out the other end it comes with its own coating of manure to aid with initial growth.
Looks like one of the big black carpenter bees. They have the most amazing iridescent wings. full size one is about 3cm or so long. quite laid back and harmless, but they do like boring holes in woos to live in.
They call that technique seed scarification to help the hard coated seeds to germinate. I have planted a ton of lily plant seeds and never had to do that to my lily seeds. Soaking the seed overnight in water also works. Those SEEDS could be Asiatic or Oriental lilies which grow upright up to 3' or more. Look up those 2 Different types of lilies so you can get an idea of what they look like. I don't think you really needed to scar the seeds up but since you did that they should be fine. Why don't you try asking the person who sent them to you? What color or tupe of lily they are? Mother nature gives some seeds a very hard shell so that they stay protected and stay viable and not dry out Mother nature best. So that is why some have a very hard sea coat. But I never felt that lily's did have the need to have that coating cracked on them in order to germinate actually. Good luck with those seeds. I would suspect that most likely they are. Asiatic lilies and those black seeds grow along the upright stem between the leaf and the stem on some Lily types. Once they sprout and grow, they come back like a perennial. And at the bottom of each stem, they will form a good size bulb and will rebloom every year. Plant each seed by itself to germinate them. Then when you go plant them in a garden spot, plant them in odd groups of 3, 5 etc. As the lilies mature and grow, each bulb will form other little bulbs under the soil that you can dig up. Pull the small bulbs up and then take those bulbs. And plant them, and each one of them will grow flour. I'd wait. Maybe three years after they're in the ground to do that. And then eventually you'll see those black seeds hanging off the tall green stem as I said between the stem and the leaves and then they will eventually go from green to black. And that's when they're generally ready to pick off the lily stem after they've been black for awhile. Good luck, I hope they do well for you. Asiatic Lilies come in many colors and it will be interesting to see what Color they are!!
Wow Barbara, thank you for all the Lily information. My friend didn’t know what type they were, but they were bright orange in colour and as you say tall. I tried germinating the seed as they were and nothing happened. That’s when i remembered I needed to scratch the surface. So let’s see what happens now. I will soak another and see what success I have 😀
Your home is going to be so stunning. Can't wait to see it completed.

Good evening suzi you need that slop so the rain water can run away from your house 👍✌️🤙❤️🇵🇹❤️
It’s true John but maybe not quite such a big slope 😀

I love how the tile is looking! ❤👍

That’s what I thought. Just soak them in water to soften the exterior skin.
That makes sense. Thank you for the information 🙏💕
It's looking really beautiful
Thank you Catarina 🙏💕

Ooh, Morning Glory is an Alien invasive in South Africa. Poisonous and a pest! Ditto with a Syringa tree!
Seja benvinda de novo ao nosso Portugal!Bom domingo.🌺🤗
Did you know lilies are poisonous to cats. The house is coming along beautifully.
No I didn’t but they will be planted away from the house near the compost area 🙏💕
Suzi keep the sloop ideally for heavy rain
Jacqueline, there will still be a slope but a more gentle one to stop pooling 😀💕
Solitary bee named xylocopa violacea

Thanks for the info. I have seen a very big one since and they make a lot of noise! 🐝😅

👏👏🏘️👍💐
Why don't you soak it in water to sofent the outer layer. Never heard that you got to sand paper seeds.
I’m going to try that idea too 🙏💕
