You are so right. I just purchased a 2023 RF Manual for my 51st b day in Oct. I lost my baby sister back in August and I named my Mx5 after her nickname ...."Pookie". 💞When I tell you that this car has help me grieve. That's an understatement. It makes me smile, giggle and laugh. The way it takes off is amazing. It's not the fastest car by no means but it gets up and it's all I need. I purchased a red 370z in 2012. Prior to that a silver Pontiac Solstice Z name was "Blood" as In The Blood of Jesus 💞 and. solstice was named (Silllllva) 🤭 long ranger old movie 😂....miss them dearly.....but again this Mx5 is all I need. It' reminds of the solstice.....However, Awesome review and thank you for giving the Mx5 it's honor. I had someone to tell me well it's not a Porsche.... True but most people buy them used. Not!!!! ....I rather a brand new car never owned. I'll stay in my lane. Literally...$$$$.I'm good😇

Whenever I watch Miata reviews, every reviewer has a similar format: They start out with rattling out the specs on paper, which honestly is not very impressive. Then comes the driving portion and I notice the same thing each time: The reviewers are always smiling ear to ear as they drive. And everyone just simply states that the Miata is just plain FUN. I've always wanted an ND Miata, but reviews such as yours are what encouraged me 2 years ago to purchase the 2021 RF Club in soul red in manual. I always look forward to every time I'm behind the wheel.
I'm excited to see the upgrades in the 2024 Miata with the newer infotainment and updated LED front and rear lights
PS. also fun fact: There's another hidden compartment behind the passengers seat 😄

I've had my MX-5 since September and love it every chance I get to drive it. NOTE: You can pull the cup holders out and reposition at least one of them on the right side of the center console. That frees up space for your elbows and puts the cup in a much more convenient place while driving. Passenger leg room suffers a bit but it solves the problem you mention in the video.

Great video!!! I just bought a 23 MX5 GT and I love it !! You are right, it's so easy to drive and super light weight. I love the stick shift feel and just how the car makes you feel . I live down here in FL so everyday is a convertible day. Cheers!!
I also live in Florida: Mount Dora, and just (1 week ago) bought a 2023 Miata RF GT in Red. It's raining today and my Miata is under several layers of protective covers, deep in my carport.
I'm driving a new '23 MX-5, my 5th MX-5 to date, from '16~'23. All of which were and are roadsters, ragtops. One of my grandsons wants this car when I kick. He told my daughter he was going to keep it for his kids when he gets too old to drive it. You know, that is how and why most antique cars are still around these days. Of course, I let him drive it whenever he asks. He likes to take his wife for rides in it. Both love these cars. She, however, cannot drive a straight stick trans, but I'm sure she'd love to learn. Once they learn, dat's it! My 1st car was a new '64 MGB. I never drove a stick before that evening. It was heavy D.C. traffic hour when I drove the MG off the lot. By the time I wound up in S.E. D.C., I was almost a pro. Look, the only problem with learning stick is taking off in 1st gear, all the other gears just fall into place. The MX-5 has a progressive clutch, in that, it starts grabbing close to the bottom of the peddle range in 1st gear only, all other gears, the clutch grabs close to the top of the peddle range, somewhat like the clutch set-up for drag racing. It's all about the 1st gear take off. Dat's it.

Great review! I have owned a number of much faster and much more expensive cars. I got off of that merry go round early last summer when I bought an RF GT manual. It is a crazy amount of fun without risking jail time.

I own one of these, and yes, in Zircon Sand Metallic. Depending on the light, you can run from tan sand to olive green. Next to a group of tanks in desert camouflage, I would most certainly loose it. That aside, I am enjoying my new 2023 GT RF.
My sister had a black Mazda Mx 6 back in the ‘90s. It was a beaut. Wish they still made them.

Nice review. I keep hoping for more "adult" coupes somewhere between the 3 hatch and this car but as it stands, depending on your need, this and the 3 are definitely my top go-tos.
Riding in an NA with one of my swim buddies was great. It was a nice summer day and we had the roof down. Peppy car with a lot of grunt and moves like a charm. When I get the money yes that will be the first thing I will get. A manual GT RF. These cars need to be preserved.
I average 36 mpg on the interstate and 38 on the back roads. 2023 convertible ND2.
Greatest video yet. I love miata had two in past but now I can’t fit in one. 😢😢wish they would bring back the pop up lights. Just isn’t right without them
Great to see someone experience the pure driving joy of a Miata for the first time. Just FYI, move one cupholder right of the shifter and put the other one away in the little bin behind the passenger seat. Whenever driving alone, one cupholder is just right of the shifter and the space behind your elbow has no cupholders. This puts the rotary dial more at hand. If you have a passenger, you move the cupholder next to the shifter and their knee to the middle. And if you both want cupholders, then you dig out the second one and put them both in the middle.

Manual may not be popular in the US but I'd say they are standard in the UK and probably Europe, so not really disappearing

I have an Nd1 and like you with the Mach 5, I kind of think with the raised fenders it reminds me of 1950s Ferrari/Maserati. It certainly has some vintage racer about it. You are a cutie pie btw.🥰

Took the 2023 Miata RF for a test drive, and it's a real-life Mach 5! Minus the rockets, of course. Still, pure driving fun all around.
Yeah it doesn’t have the jumping feature with the cool noise either. (You know the noise, isn’t it funny how I can say that and we both hear it in our heads?)

I totally agree with your comment re a passing resemblance to the Mach 5 from Speed Racer. In fact, I’ve just ordered a white ND3 (delivery early next year) and the other day was surfing speed racer photos and wondering for fun how it would look with the red M on the bonnet!!
Great vid, thanks for posting. I like your observation that the automotive industry doesn't make cars like the Miata MX-5 anymore. I'd add if they do you have to pay way more money for one...like a Porsche or similar.

Nice review. I'm a 2022 Miata GT soft top owner. Just a couple of things to share, the infotainment system is quite old and slow, and I think goes back to about 2016- but you do get wireless Apple Car Play. The new 'other' Mazda models all have bigger better faster systems. I wasn't a fan of the RF. I can see why people like it, but it is a lot more money, I think it also affects your insurance premium due to repair/replacement should you be in a smash. It also adds to the weight of the car. The classic Miata look to me anyway is a softop. And...I find the color here unbearable...in real life it's a kind of puke/coffee color. Mazda only offers very limited color range, I chose white, but would be great to see brighter primary colors in such a small, fun car.

It's funny. It has keyless entry and push button start 🧐. But the "glove box" uses a key that didn't seem to be kept with the fob. 🤔 I'm surprised no one has made that auto lock and unlock yet same as the rest of the locks.
The key is inside the fob. You have to open the fob then the remove the key.
Does the glovebox compartment lock itself automatically when you lock the car, or you have to do it manually every time before you get out of car? That mazda key seems to have only buttons and not am actual key like those traditional keys.
It's manual only, in all Miatas, including all the 2023 ones.

There is! It comes with a little kit.
There is a way... but you DON'T want to do that. All RF cars have a closing kit, but it needs like 2 people and has like 30-35 steps in the manual. I guess it takes 2 hours to finish the process.

Good review and fantastic car but I’m so disappointed in Mazda and their color choices. Phlegm Green? (looks like snot). Sand color Tan? Boring. Dark Grey? Depressing. White, and metallic White? Maybe if you are a refrigerator. Black? Dark dark blue, so dark that it looks black? Ugh. This is a car that’s suppose to be sporty, zippy, bright, Bold. Who at Mazda makes these decisions? What about metallic Orange? Or the new Artisan Deep Red with tan interior and top? How about British racing green with a tan top and interior? What about a bright metallic blue that changes color in the sun? What are they doing to the Miata? It’s bland with the colors it offers. 😖

Yes, when it is in park it, Apple car play functions as a touch screen, but as soon as the vehicle is in gear it does not work any longer.

@@AlphaShark we are a group yes, so we answer as we as it is someone different at times, but we research and study videos together. What we mean is that the way you narrate seems to "corporate". Youre, in our opinion, too monotone and trying to be a traditional presenter with a presenters voice and it just feels unnatural to us. But its nothing more than that. Its a little less organic, but its also one of the first videos we see of you. Its clear you put in a lot of work and have a lot of views and youre still answering comments. This puts you miles ahead of many others. We appreciate the hard work and we acknowledge it

BTW - I purchased a 2022 MANUAL soft top GT because I don’t like the blind spots and the wind noise with the top down, plus it costs less and eliminates additional weight.

I suspect it is an editing issue. I ended up watching at 1.25 speed and that sounded normal to me. I have seen one of his other videos and didn’t notice the same issue.
I must disagree. Modern, young speakers talk WAY TOO FAST. It's a byproduct of texting culture. His voice is pleasant and clear and I was able to catch every word for once.
