Heard there's some issues with the emulator and certain effects like fog. Which totally breaks my favourite OoT miniboss from Water Temple. It's good to hear that the controller is well balanced, since it's harder to fix hardware than software. I just hope all the issues get ironed out rather than ignored.
Honestly, you're easily (imo) the best Nintendo reviewer online just because of how unbiased (and detailed) you are in your reviews. Even when you're initially pessimistic about something coming out, you don't let that sway your view when you're actually reviewing it and keep an open mind 🙏🏻

He's also good at addressing non-issues and differentiating how something could be an issue for some people, while not being an issue for others. It's not just "Oh well I don't like this, so that means it's garbage" or "I really love this, that means it's the greatest thing since sliced bread" which alot of content creators tend to do..

It's Beautiful! Brings back the earliest memories I have of gaming. But I was having a hard time with the music volume in the beginning, it's silly but I was so distracted by it while trying to listen to you haha
4:25, That nostalgic sound really hit me. Man I loved the N64 games back in the days, so much memories and fun times. And now that Nintendo has released a more revamped but still the Classic OG look version of the controller, It’s time.
Honestly, I wish they would release a hard copy of OoT, MM, and maybe a few others. I don’t know about anyone else, but to be able to have physical copies of these games would be amazing (I like the set they make for the cases) not to mention that you’d be able to play them on the Switch. I think putting Twilight Princess as well as WindWaker would be awesome as well since we always have GameCube controllers for the Switch!
@@TariqYasiinProd Actually, no, it uses potentiometers like most analogs sticks so it can suffer from stick drift and the mechanism is the same as it uses plastic gears that are notoriously bad for wearing down rapidly leaving you with a wobbly and loose stick just like the original. TL;DR: it's just as bad as the original but potentially worse.
Here's a tip for anyone playing NSO online docked. I adjusted my TV display settings to "Wide Zoom" It cuts the weird side bars off of the display, filling the entire TV screen perfectly with the game screen without cutting off any of the game screen. The TV I have is a 2018 Sony XF90, but your TV may have a similar option. Worth giving it a try, Ocarina of Time now looks full screen and I'm loving it 🙌
I would love it if you did 100% walkthroughs for some N64 games. Particularly the Zelda games (and Banjo-Kazooie when it is available). I just love the commentaries, insights, and humor you have in each video.
I love this controller and was able to get one just minutes before they sold out the first time. I too am very impressed with this controller and the rumble, as I never took my Rumble Pak out of my controller except when I had to put in a Memory Pak. It has that same weight and feel (with RP) that I fondly remember from my youth and I smiled when I first felt it rumble after syncing. I don't have the NSO Expansion yet but just wanted to get this controller to put along side my other two NSO controllers. The very first game I tried out with my controller to see if and how it would work was Mario 64 from the Mario 3D All Stars and it worked like a dream with no button remapping involved!!
I loved my N64 growing up! I remember the first time I got a non-Nintendo console was bc I wanted to play GTA 3 which required a Playstation. I'm really tempted to buy this just to spite younger me and play GTA on a 64 controller.
Hi, I have a question about Pokemon Home. I've searched the entire internet but I always end up in the same doubt, because I hear two versions of the story. Supposedly if we have the premium plan of Pokémon Home and if we stop paying the Pokémon are blocked BUT they are safe, and just pay again to unlock but, I saw that in Nintendo/Pokémon support, there is information that they are only safe over a period of time. What is this period of time? and does it even exist? Are the Pokémon at risk of being deleted after some time we stop paying for Pokémon Home? I'm in a dilemma and I really need a right answer! I've seen people say they delete others say no...
I'm a bit concerned about the analog stick. Everybody knows that the original N64 controller had problems with the stick after some time. When I look at the stick on the new N64 controller it looks exactly the same. I hope they didn't make the same mistake twice with this controller.
Would be interesting to see. The Design of the Stick was terrible. But to me fair, most of the loose Sticks are propably a result of Mario Party. I've got two original N64 controllers and their Sticks are still fine. They have never been a Victim to that game tough.

My original n64 controllers stick work fine without the wobbly sticks, and coincidentally my family never really played Mario Party games back then until the gamecube. I think that original party trilogy took a lot of controllers to early graves. Great gaming experiences im sure though.

The fact that the sticks use the same plastics and will get wobbly is unbelievable, but then again it is Nintendo, they get loose whether you play mario party or not
What would’ve been great was if they put a gameboy cartridge slot on there and you can use your Pokémon on stadium 1 and 2 and then possibly even making a way to transfer them over to home.

I really wish I could find someone who *was* covering the Genesis side of things. I never had a Genesis or played around with emulating it, so I don't know how good the games are being emulated or how authentic the controller feels. I imagine there are some games worth playing there, but *everyone* is covering the N64 and *only* the N64 side of the Expansion Pass.
I love the N64 Controller, the thin analog stick makes for precise moving and aiming better compared to other controller that the "stick" part is so thick that it makes having precise movements a challenge. I love playing Majora's Mask on the Wii U Virtual Console, but the Pro Controller and Wii U Controller makes it hard to use the Bow as always going slightly off the mark. Still doable and I got 100% on the game, but more difficult. I would LOVE to get the controller, but as of right now until Nintendo "fixes" up many issues with the NSO Expansion Pack I'm going to hold off getting it and the controller. Right now not exactly worth, which is a shame as the current N64 titles right now on Switch are my favorites.

I also put that down to the lower pivot point than other stick designs. Most sticks have their pivot just below the surface of the controller, while the N64 has it at the bottom of that "well".

Regardless of personal preference for the controller (N64 was my first "personal" console, our family shared a SNES, so I'm nostalgically biased), you've got to admit it's a nice novelty that some lucky buyers get to pick up the N64 controller to play N64 games again on a Nintendo console. It is old, that's my problem, as a 90s kid yeah this was amazing it made sense having 3 prongs, 2D mode and 3D mode what's the problem? But there's not enough improvements to the controller for me to want one again in 2021, if I really did, I'd go find a decent used one and a USB-adapter of some sort, much rather Project 64 on my PC with my 8bit Pro2, but if you've made it this far in the comment, please let others enjoy whatever they'd like to, be cool.
I can only imagine there will be aftermarket controllers released soon that fixes things like the joystick. There are some bloody good ones for the original N64. Time will tell.
I bought a Japanese Sega Mega Drive Mini for $80. I had a Mayflash Magic NS lying around and updated the firmware. It now uses the the six-button controller. I used Comix Zone to get proper remapping. It's perfect in the games. But on the menus it's different. C is A. So that's not a big issue. Once you start the games, you're good to go. For anyone that may have this controller and adapter combo and is interested, remap is as follows: L-X R-A X-R A-B B-Y Y-L I also changed mode to the home button.
I was lucky enough to get one ordered a minute or two before they sold out, but it hasn't arrived yet. I was expecting it today, but now the estimate has it coming tomorrow. With all the bad news about these ports, I'm really glad they seem to have released a good controller and I look forward to getting mine. For the price Nintendo is asking for these games, I really hope they patch stuff like OOT's fog eventually.
The reason they didn’t bother to market it beyond just a picture, or with a video or anything, is explained in the fact that no one can get a hold of one. People are going to buy it just based on the description. Nintendo didn’t need to waste money advertising it when it was going to sell out regardless. I might pick one up if I can make it to the website on time, but I’m banking on a third-party controller since my luck is bad with these instantly sold out things.
at least they got the N64 controller right, even down to the rumble. what they didn't get right was memory pak support, which is surprising considering that many other emulators and Nintendo's own Virtual Console emulators were able to get it working.
I hope they update it so the buttons can be re-mapped for Mario 3D all-stars because I'm not 100% sold on the online expansion pack, but boy howdy I want this controller.
I managed to buy one a few days ago in the Nintendo store and I'm excited to try the controller out when it arrives cause I like how goofy the N64 controller is That's gonna be fun to use in a bunch of games

They knocked it out of the park with the N64 controller. Plus, all of the new custom N64 sound effects in the NSO N64 game menu that are ONLY used when using this controller are just *chef's kiss*. Now, if they could just make the games in N64 games in the NSO shop just as high of quality...
Ok, for reference the OG N64 controller weights 8oz(225g), the rumble pak weights 3.5oz(97g), and together 11.5oz(323g) with regular brand new batteries installed. Just a little extra information for y'all!
One thing I want to know is if these controllers are completely interchangeable for other switch titles, if it's a Nintendo made n64 shaped switch controller I'd be much more interested. Less so if it's a controller that's only really useful for N64 titles.

Yeah bud that would look pretty sick. I got all my controllers mounted on the wall for now so my toddler can't get to them. But a dock for all the online controllers would look pretty nice
Never had an issue with the weight of the N64 controller with the rumble pak since I hold my controller pointing to the floor. And as a kid I’m more comfortable standing when I play video games.
It was sold out the day it dropped but I just happened to check back on the website the next morning and it was back in stock so I got 2 (one for me and one for friends)! I can’t wait for them to arrive in the mail!
Got 4 of them, just so everyone can use one in 4 player games. Really cool. The stick and c buttons just work best for these games, even tho other controllers are fine enough. Plus the rumble feels more authentic, which is cool
I have 2 of these, the sad thing is the joystick is the same minus the different sensors, so that means joystick looseness/wobble is upon us just like the old ones :(

Hate to say it, but it looks like Nintendo put more work into emulating their N64 controller than emulating their own games.
At least they can fix the emulator with software updates. If they screwed up the controller, it'd be a major disappointment.

Ok, for reference the OG N64 controller weights 8oz(225g), the rumble pak weights 3.5oz(97g), and together 11.5oz(323g) with regular brand new batteries installed. Just a little extra information for y'all!
I just finally got one of these and i love it, I'm tempted to buy another just for when the joy stick eventually do what it do
One thing I want to know is if these controllers are completely interchangeable for other switch titles, if it's a Nintendo made n64 shaped switch controller I'd be much more interested.
Less so if it's a controller that's only really useful for N64 titles.
The fact the sticks are new & stiff & official Nintendo product plus it’s wireless seems like a must buy for me
Just recently got 2 of these because they're back in stock. I think I'm gonna use 1 and keep the other in the box

Anyone heard of nino? It's an adaptor that enables you to use your old N64 controller with buttons mapped 1:1 for switch online. Find it on ebay
I finally got one of these controllers a week or so ago and I'm absolutely loving it. It's the best way to play the N64 games.
The weight of the original rumble pak was not an "issue". It was a feature
Now we need something like the Hori split pad but with N64 configuration AND the good mapping.

Yeah bud that would look pretty sick. I got all my controllers mounted on the wall for now so my toddler can't get to them. But a dock for all the online controllers would look pretty nice
If the input lag of the emulation wasn't so bad I'd be looking forward more to this controller.
Never had an issue with the weight of the N64 controller with the rumble pak since I hold my controller pointing to the floor. And as a kid I’m more comfortable standing when I play video games.
It was sold out the day it dropped but I just happened to check back on the website the next morning and it was back in stock so I got 2 (one for me and one for friends)! I can’t wait for them to arrive in the mail!

Got 4 of them, just so everyone can use one in 4 player games. Really cool. The stick and c buttons just work best for these games, even tho other controllers are fine enough. Plus the rumble feels more authentic, which is cool

Im too young to have grown up with n64 but the controller is my favourite controller ive ever used

I have 2 of these, the sad thing is the joystick is the same minus the different sensors, so that means joystick looseness/wobble is upon us just like the old ones :(

Cool that Zelda Link game look similar to the one on the current Switch version game, yeah I remember that N64 controller and it also rumbles too!
They should have included a couple of replaceable rubber joystick covers in the box.
I'd be slightly concerned about the durability of the joystick, my original n64 controller that I had from back in the day is completely unusable now because of too much mario party 😬

The N64 controller without the handles is just a 6-button SNES controller.
