To fluff up the masa, whip up the Lard. I whip it for 15 mins in my stand mixer. Also make sure your masa is well hydrated. You know your masa is ready if you place a small bit of it in a glass of water and it floats on the top. If it doesn't float then you either don't have enough lard or not enough liquid or you need to mix it longer and faster to get the air whipped into it.
I love Tamales 🫔 That was cornstarch you put in, I didn't see baking powder. That's probably why they weren't so fluffy. I'm so sorry you grew up with an abusive mom. Just know that from what I see, you turned out beautiful inside and out. 💕💕💕 I would have help you, it would have been so fun! Would have loved to have seen the end result and a taste test. Good Job! 👏👏👏
They look delicious!! You did fantastic!!There's nothing like tamales, posole, menudo and pan dulce in the winter 😉. I have been following "Simply Mama Cooks" for awhile she has wonderful recipes and easy to follow. Thank you so much for all your videos
My mom would whip up the lard until it was fluffy. She would also use broth from the meat you cooked.
@@mcalshum768 thank you for that tip. I’ll definitely try it when I do this again maybe around the first of the year.
