- It’s no secret that Los Angeles has minted stars in the burger world. But for many natives, it’s the homegrown, backyard burger traditions that keep the burger scene here alive and well. Just ask Alvin, whose childhood growing up in East L.A. is filled with memories of grilling burgers on Sundays and watching the area’s famous lowrider clubs cruise the boulevard. Today, he’s linking up with Together Car Club to talk shop about the communal power of backyard burgers and why lowriders and grilling go hand-in-hand.

I’m from LA and I live in Philly now. I hate how everyone thinks east LA/Compton are the super ghetto and super dangerous. Look at the neighborhood! It’s immaculate! There’s nice lawns and community! But when you go to the Bronx or north Philly it looks like gutter trash with real danger... I’m sorry but the west coast is clearly the best coast...
The east coast especially the north east is older in USA history so the bad neighborhoods in Philly will look more run down and trashed than the neighborhoods in California. Philly is a great city and has things LA does not have. But LA is great too and has a different vibe.

I loved growing up in Pico. Loved the Taco Shack nachos, Tacos Arandas, The Tamarack Inn, In-n-Out, Tommy’s and Happy Wok. Lot’s of great places to eat and ton of great people.
I still habe to wait 3 more years to crus to usa and I hope I get to that crew and you SALUDOS DESDE TECATE BAJA CALIFORNIA MEX.

I lived in Cali during my 20's. I never really understood the low rider thing. Which is ok I guess since I was just some white kid from the midwest lol. That being said I certainly respect the time, love, effort and passion they put into it. There is room for everyone in the car family. Some like fast, some like bone stock cherry others like a show piece or a statement. Me personally I like performance. I want it to be fast or handle great. I don't care if its primer grey with no interior. But some of those cars sure are pretty to look at. True works of art.

2 thin burgers is better than 1 of the same size, more surface area for the grilling to impart flavor and they cook faster. Thick burgers are for the uncultured.
I hate thick burgers, anything over a 4oz patty is too much eat for me
V West that’s just incorrect. You just need to know how to cook em. It makes it more juicy and you can get a nice medium/medium rare burger and it’s delicious
i would never eat store bought ground beef medium rare. that shit nasty, unless i bought the steak grounded myself.
I agree with Jeff, I don't eat store bought ground beef anything under well done. Freshly ground steak is different but not worth the effort when I can just grill the steak. Obviously don't burn them into pucks but they are still juicy when cooked right then add some cheese for extra juiciness.
