- Happy Friday, everyone! Today, we return to the heart of Azeroth to re-examine one of the deadliest criminals in Stormwind: Dextren Ward! After piecing together many forms of evidence, I believe I've arrived at what is likely one of the most well-kept secrets of this crook!
Video Footage:
- Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft (2004-)
- Some images retrieved from WoWhead and Google Images.
Background Music:
- "The Stockades" from the WoW OST

I would also like to add that Dextron Ward is a clear reference to Charles Dexter Ward, a character from Lovecraft that took dead bodies and tried to reanimate them, to various degrees of success.
Well spotted, nice one!
Ah, I see, a man of culture as well 😏
Wow, that's a great connection! :D Very fitting!
@@Jediwarlock plenty of Lovecraft fans over at Blizz lol
Your videos carry a an undertone of nostalgia that has all but disappeared from gaming today. Thank you for keeping that spark alive for me.
You are most welcome.
Videos like this make me miss the good old days of WoW in the 2000s back when the game had so much mystery and was actively being worked on. Classic WoW truly was the greatest video game of all time... I dream for a day when I could find a game that was so deep in lore and expansive and just plain fun.
Yup. Modern WoW lacks the mystery since they revealed everything. Literally found the gods that ordered the world, which then made the character of Brann Bronzebeard useless for he no longer had anything to discover and tell us.
I'm glad my videos have that nostalgic, old-WoW feel to them. :) That's what I'm going for and it is always nice to hear people appreciate that!
The Zanzil conspiracy is still the most amazing connections videos I've ever seen
Thank you! :) It was one of my favorites to make for sure! :D
I feel like this all branches off from how westfall was the first zone made. This big storyline being one of several to do with the whole kingdom of Stormwind. I wonder what other insights could be gained from figuring out what order each vanilla zone was made in?
Great thoughts! I really agree with you on that. The entire Human 1-30 experience including Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood and Redridge is just a MASTERPIECE and I don't think any other area captures such a great cohesive story. :)
This is probably one of my favorite videos you've done. I never played before Burning Crusade so I missed quite a bit of the beginnings of the game and never knew all these connections.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
I really love your videos and theories, dude. Keep up the great work. You've made me take a second look at some quests in Vanilla I never thought much of.
Thank you so much! :)
He wasn't too good at Warding off his enemies.
He wasn't Dextrous enough.
Oh, you punny guys!
Indeed XD
The devs really put so much effort in creating so many stories for WoW and its questlines before Vanillas release.
It's so... big.
Yes! One of the reasons why the original versions are just amazing. :)
top tier video, its really cool to see you connecting the dots to figure out everything, keep it up!
Thanks so much! :)
So much lore and conspiracies in just the base game. That's why I love Vanilla
Agreed! :D
Always love your videos explaining how things are connected. Makes the quest and zones so much more intersting.
Thank you! :)
Next level of Jediwarlocks awesomness - WoW True Crime Podcasts.
Haha, now That's an idea XD
I really wish they had played more with 2 elements in the game, Capturing opponents and disguises.
It would be neat if wearing a Defias mask meant they did not instantly agro and attack you at range, but that it reduced agro range until in melee range or that you could pass thru defias heavy areas without getting into combat.
Additionally if you had a finishing move to subdue an opponent and apply a restraint upon in them so you could drag them back as a bounty to authorities in some places. Especially if it meant you could get a bigger reward for bringing them back alive but that dragging them along slowed you down or became an escort quest of sorts on a regular basis. There's a few points in the game that this is done by the plot but not often.
Both great ideas! Those are both very intriguing and probably were limited by the engine more than anything during early WoW. Disguise quests are great tho! Becoming the Scarlet Courier, entering the Netherwing Ledge as an orc... those are awesome stories! :D
Goated WoW content. I just love your channel in general, you ask questions I never even considered when I played WoW and I never knew I wanted the answers until you piece them together. Thank you for being such an awesome piece of this game's history!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words. :)
Woooow, killer investigative journalism
Thanks! :)
I love Warlock Jedi! Watching since swimming around azeroth O:)
I'm glad you liked those! Some of my most popular ones for sure haha
This makes me wish season of discover had ramped up MUCH slower and expanded on the lore/quests of each lower level area/dungeon
I usually claim myself as an important Vanilla and up to wotlk connoscieur, but your videos always blown my mind with these hidden lores!
I'm glad I continue to reveal new stuff for you! :D I'm all about discovering new things that lore people haven't seen before ;)
Nice analysis, it's interesting to imagine Dexten Ward as one of the defias brotherhood. Although perhaps it was convenient for them to join one another - Ward for protection in stockades and for Defias to bring even mre havoc to the area.
Agreed! A mutually beneficial arrangement even if he wasn't a true member... another good perspective!
Makes you wonder why humans didn't have a necromancer class with all these undead-related humans (Klaven, Morbent Fel, The Hermit)
It's true! I think Necromancer or Cultist would've been a great Hero Class to add at some point. :) Perhaps they only stuck with Warlock so they only had one class that wielded "evil" magic and make them stand out.
Love these videos!. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! :)
Really cool theory, one that really connects all the big bads of the human starter zone. Looking forward for more!
Thank you! :D More on the way. ;)
Just wait until Jediwarlock sets their mind to Ulduar, the relation between Yogg-saron and the Lich King, and the retconned 2010 Blizzcon nudge towards Orgrimmar being fortified by saronite.
I always believed that the Dreadlords were inspired/empowered by the Old Gods of Azeroth, henceforth (in the timeline of Wrath of the Lich King) spreading their influence by having the Scourge destroy any means for the mortals to understand the source of their free will: the Curse of Flesh.
It's certainly a possibility! However, the Dreadlords are servants of the Legion who serve Sargeras and therefore oppose the Old Gods, BUT it is very likely they are capable of being double agents pulling the strings of both sides... I love those other clues you mentioned! I'll have to investigate ;)
Hi Jedi!
I've always been curious about Defias activity in Duskwood. This explains it nicely!
Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed this one! :D
Very interesting!
Thanks! :)
Love these vids, good job.
Thank you! :)
Great video, ty for putting all the work in to it!
You are very welcome! :)
I learned more in this video than I ever did questing in WoW
Haha, thank you! :)
The NPC is actually a refence to de HP Lovecraft character in
Great connection! :D
so cool!
BABE wake up Jedi just uploaded. :)
Thank you!
very good!!!
Thank you! :)
Combine with the zanzil theory the defias tried multiple methods for undead allies probably after seeing the success of arthas. What is fun to think about is who knows and who is in command? Because does Edwin know about the undead trials or about working with lady prester? Could someone try to take power of the defias? I mean having a bunch who is rightfully mad at not being paid for their work as a army to attack storm wind is helpful. Especially if you raise bodies in undeath or somehow find a way to make a plague like poison. Heck does anyone know? Imagine if they weren't in knowledge of lady prester, just trying to take over storm wind and she takes control of a undead stormwind. So their back stab causes them to be backstabbed because they didn't think a dragon was on council to try and cause chaos. But she also could have planned it. I mean nefarion brought onyxia back to life later on so could they have been working on undeath and threw some information out to see what will happen in field studies?
Great ideas! Thank you for writing all this out... very fun to read! :)
Nice connection with the masks. I doubt very many people have ever seen graverobbers drop one
Thanks! :) Examining the database honestly can reveal such fascinating secrets!
Dextren and Targorr are black dragon assets, just like the rest of the Defias inmates.
Kam Deepfury is a high ranking Dark Iron agent, and is most likely being kept alive as a bargaining chip by the house of nobles, either of their own accord or through Prestor's machinations.
What I want to know is what Hamhock the ogre's deal is. Who is he, why is he there?
Neat: You kill Kam via a quest from Loch Modan, where a Dwarf is pissed the nobility is probably keeping him alive, so you unalive the bastard for him.
Neat: You kill Targorr via a quest in Red Ridge, for the same reason.
I believe these is no quest for Hamhock, which makes him stand out even more.
It's a good theory to investigate! My leading ideas are that he is either A.) A Duskwood Ogre captured by the Night Watch, or B.) A Stranglethorn Ogre who was perhaps captured by Kurzen's men before they were corrupted? Might make a vid on this now ;)
yes master of course
Of course!
very nice
Thank you! :)
For me the stockades always felt a bit weird. Lore-wise it makes sense, of course, but they're mainly lvl 25 to lvl30 mobs. Just send in some of those lvl 60 guards and restore the order, lmao
Using "lorewise" and "level" in the same argument make no sense. You could say most of them are unarmed so it should be easier but not Level lol.
I see what you mean XD
@@DevelonLP you're absolutely right, of course. This is just something that has been bothering me forever..
Funny how there's all this connecting content. It's not in any book. It's just the world this beautiful world that Chris metzen created.
Yes!! So many secrets just waiting to be uncovered :D
Enjoying your content so far, just curious if any of it is AI written or voiced?
Thank you! And haha, nope, that's just my voice. :P I write all my scripts myself, no AI :)
Amazing, guilt-free enjoyment!
If you had to ascribe a percentage of undead raisings at Raven Hill to the embalmer and the necromancer, what would you estimate it at?
I think the ghouls belong to the embalmer and the skeletons belong to the necromancer.
That's a great idea! I forgot our friend Abercrombie probably raised some of them as well. :) I like your estimate!
on the topic of the undead cemetery considering how ingame wow is smaller than the same world in the lore just how many undead might be prowling duskwood , hundreds? thousands?
Certainly a lot O_O
Brine Shrimp
Tada!
:D
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. Read it.
Oh yes, somebody else mentioned that his name is a reference... that is great XD
Remember when the Ebonlockes were the good guys? Fuckin hate Legion.
Ahhhh I forgot they became villains... such a weird decision D:
@@Jediwarlock Ebonlocke is a scary name that they reused in MoP for the Green Fire antagonist so I guess they're evil and tied to Fel powers now.
first comment!
Nice! :D
