The Ataris - Complete set, recorded at St. Stevens Church in Washington D.C. on February 10, 2012. Set list photo capture is here: photos.google.com/photo/AF1Qi...
@LiL NORMS You aren't wrong that it feels like a cover band but also don't forget that The Ataris really formed as just Kris. Kris wrote and played all the instruments (except drums) on Anywhere But Here. Mike Davenport and Chris Knapp, who most consider the other founding members, didn't join until the year after Anywhere But Here.
@@xinurdyingarmsx Yup. The original 1997 lineup was Kris, Jasin Thomason, and Derrick Plourde (R.I.P.). Marko DeSantis also played bass briefly that year.
Kris Roe, one of my musical heros. Best voice in pop punk and has insane writing ability. 1997-2003 - ataris on the rise, so long astoria hands down top 10 pop punk albums of all time 2007-welcome the night. Weird album with only 2-3 decent songs. Ok Kris was experimenting we'll let this slide. Please get rid of the cello. 2012-Kris roe has a mental breakdown on stage and assaults his drummer. No new material. 2013-present. Kris doing acoustic tours playing the same 10-12 songs from 97-03 era. Had to ask for money on Facebook live to basically afford food heat rent etc Still a hero of mine, but the story always makes me sad. We all go through constant battles in life, its hard to watch your hero succumb to it. Never stop singing Kris ♥️
shown some respect to these legends for fucks sake. rage it up guys wtf the ataris 4 life!! fuck being grown up, only thing that matters is following our hearts.. forever mate! this band brought much joy to a lot of people I know. thank you eternally if you ever read this guys!! much love!

sad to see the crowd just standing there, but happy to know kriss still doing what he love, come to indonesia you deserve better crowd, you guys have million fans here
Nah. Literally books his own tours, does his own merch, drives the van, does it all DIY. It's a labor of love. That's punk rock. Kris Rowe is a legend.
@@downtothewireBAND when you've mortgaged the first ten years of adulthood on a band, there aren't many better options... he could go and be a waiter somewhere, or make about the same amount of money playing basement and church hall shows and being treated like minor rock star by 20-30 kids a night
Fuck off, kris is punk as fuck. He books his own shows, manages his entire band, he does everything DIY and all he cares about is if his audience has a good experience. Unlike all of these pussy fucking artists today who care about fucking money and popularity. Kris actually cares about his fans and his shows.
Aguante Ataris. Es una banda que aportó mucho para el estilo de música denominado "punk californiano". Es doloroso verlos tocar en un set tan reducido¿ Que carajo pasó? Vaya uno a saber. Abrazo.
Watching this makes me so sad. Kris wrote the songs that soundtracked so much of my earlier life and to see them play to such a small and pitiful crowd is heartbreaking. Saw them live in Leeds a couple of times and you couldn’t move, the venues rammed with hyped up devotees to the band. 😢
This is honestly just where a lot of punk bands are now, especially in the US. Bands like Green Day, blink-182, NOFX, Sum 41, etc. were far more the exception than the rule. Just playing smaller and mid-sized gigs and the occasional opener for a bigger band is the norm for most, especially once the Vans Warped Tour started shifting more to stuff like hip hop and more mainstream acts. It's really overseas where pop punk tends to be more warmly welcomed now. Either way, it's awesome that Kris still gives his all, regardless of whether he's playing a stadium or a smaller room full of kids. If anything, I prefer his voice now way more than ever.

This is the reality for touring bands. Your high school band may draw well in your hometown but book a show on the other side of the country and see how many people show up. Im sure the Ataris do better in some markets compared to others. They honestly werent that big outside of pop punk culture.
The songs are great. They just need that So Long, Astoria tone back. More punchy and aggressive guitars. Screw the vintage sound, rock that shit out hard.
Actually theyre still playing, this is probably a small gig helping some friend or something. They did a great tour with MxPx in 2018 and Kris Roe kept playing acoustic sets for a long time. They started playing again probably 2013,but still active
Silver Turns to Rust came out a while ago, although it's a compilation album but there are some new songs, like The Graveyard of the Atlantic and All Soul's Day. Do check it out if you haven't
Dam! WTF happened?! I never would have made through Highschool without Blue SKies, Broken Hearts, Next 12 Exits... Now I gotta google it and find out what happened....
they re music never gets dated to me It sounds pretty cool with new kirs s metal vocal tone thanks for existing ataris! Worst live show illumination ever
They sound great! But where did all thier distortion go!? I've seen them at least 12 times, Detroit and Chicago, even played a show with them! All great guys, but bring back your distortion!
This band deserves much more! Those people are not paying attention to them it's sad! Great band
This crowd don’t deserve this legendary band.

Great to see the audience so enthusiastic.
The Ataris por siempre
Sad. Remember growing up and seeing concerts where they had 1000’s of people screaming the lyrics. Growing up sucks
i love this song "Summer Wind Was Always Our Song" 25:00
He's still spitting hellfire.

The Ataris de mis bandas favoritas.
I LOVE THE ATARIS ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
WTF...! This band should be playing in a sold out stadium
So depressing. Guess he is living proof of 'being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up'

This is the most depressing thing I've ever seen. My shitty high school band played bigger shows than this.
I know, I'm confused.. They could play bigger places than this... They'll forever been one of the best emo bands from my youth!!
@@user-mo3tv1oo3o so true, they could played in bigger show, who didn't know the ataris? I've known them since high school around 1998, unbelievable!
@@maslamatters Kris roe is a genius.. His songs were the soundtrack to many people's high school days!
So sad they don't know them

One thing often goes unnoticed about Kris Roe is the way he plays guitar, or more specifically how he sets it up.
Pretty sure every fan of The Ataris know his strings are upside down. How can anyone not notice…?
He plays upside down. Learned in a right handed guitar like hendrix. But he plays power chords upside down which is fricken awesome.
Pretty sure it doesn’t go unnoticed that he plays upside down
Kris roes voice is one of the best.

at least theres those five or six kids moshing, right :(
What happened to them??? Where are they? I can't find anything about anything anywhere! HELP!

Dude just google them and you'll find their twitter, instagram and bandcamp page
What happened to this band? kris has been playing almost the same songs for 20 years and since 2007 they have released 1 album.

Oh so thats why theyre not even verified on insta. The band died 😭
They got a song on the tony hawk remasters,,,,,,, They ain't doing to bad.
its not so small, about 100 people
And these guys are already not in the band anymore
Aggressive guitars make more sense for The Ataris!
crowd don't understand at all. ataris ❤️
I don’t think they understand music. Or what planet they are on.
Other then the crowd sucking im trying to figure out what everyone means by this being depressing
they re music never gets dated to me
It sounds pretty cool with new kirs s metal vocal tone
thanks for existing ataris!
Worst live show illumination ever
i d rather to listen to the old live btw
This is sad. Kris deserves this though. He use to be the biggest fucking tool bag. I hope he regrets it all.
39:33 did the bass player yawn?
Ngl. Kinda sad seeing them reduced to this.
:(
They sound great! But where did all thier distortion go!? I've seen them at least 12 times, Detroit and Chicago, even played a show with them! All great guys, but bring back your distortion!
oof, pretty weird to be that old and playing songs for teenagers
XD
where the fuck are they playing? retirement home?
They sucked in the 2000's and they suck now. One hit wonder and it was a cover haha
