The soundtrack of my last year in high school. Oh man, I really miss those days, the nights that i spend partying with my friends, getting drunk and listening to pop punk. To all the young folks here, enjoy your high school years days and youth, because soon you guys will miss it a lot. “Being grown up isn’t half as growing up These are the best days of our lives”
We used to say my one friends address “1916 landlac drive”when he says “2015 riverside it’s time to say good bye” It went SO good lol LOL 😢 Miss those days and just the hopeful feeling for the future that most of us no longer feel.
This song reminds me of how care free, and worry free my youth was, now that I am living as an adult. Reminded me of how I wished I was still 16 and living my best life as a youth ❤️
Kris has gotten older and so have we. Thank you for keep performing and warming up my heart with amazing music that bring back such fond memories from over two decades ago. We love you Kris.
I was lucky enough to be at the shoot for the music video for this song. We all got pizza and then they did a concert for us after. It was fucking sick.
actually the band doesn't exist anymore.Yesterday in Los Angeles there was been So long Astoria reunion show, The "So long, Astoria" lineup playing their classic album in its entirety
I meant the original band..in these last years he changed a lot people or he played alone. For this year he called the original members with whom he recorded the album So long Astoria because this year it is 20 years (2003-2023)
Thank you kris for being still here and remind us that everything can be still beautiful and full of life like in 2003. That year we met in the backstage of one of your concert in Italy and you’ve bee one of the kindest and down to earth people I’ve ever met. Good good vibes. Cheers to you.
got to see them open for MXPX a few years back in Anaheim. My kids listened to these guys back in the day. I'm 65 years old and still listening and going to punk shows and dancing in mosh pits! And...with NO tattoos!!
This video brings a tear to my eye... seeing him as an older man with the best days of his life as a musician over, playing with no band behind him, it's almost like a soliloquy of all of us elder emos moving on and growing up... I just want to go back to playing N64 and listening to San Dimas HS Football Rules, but those days are gone...
Got give some propos to Kris here for being a Left-handed guy and playin' with right guitar without swicthing the beefier strings to the top. That's amazing!
As I grow older, this song keeps the spirit of my youth alive within me. I cried listening to it again, feeling the raw energy and freedom of those days. God has given us something so precious, and I pray to stay true to myself, strong from today and beyond, just like I was back then. Being an adult is hard, but I believe I can persevere. When I reach my final destination, I want to look back and proudly say I gave my best to this world.
this is up there as one of my favorite album in the genre. The Ataris were a success hands down and im glad they kind of maintain their independence as artists. So Long Astoria is a Classic from front to back and will be forever burned in my brain with personal memories i have in my life from that album. Those days were much difficult but this album got me through stuff.
I can believe he still has the same voice and energy than before., besides this were the the best days of our lives and all that things the matter is in our hearts....to eventually finally get it right.
Damn this takes me back to ‘03….delivering pizzas on summer nights….making just enough money to keep gas in my truck having no idea what the hell social media was
@@TokenChineseGuy Thanks, that definitely sounds right. Now if only I wasn't dyslexic I could figure out the power chords! So tough watching a lefty and trying to mimic righty. :)
@@MichaelJoshuaWilliams Haha! I guess I am more surprised to see someone with a shirt today. I wouldn't think of them as mainstream. Then again, I only remember listening to them a long time ago.

Mine 2 bro... It was me and my friends favorite song.
These lyrics ring true my friends. 🤘

Kris??
@@andymorris6851 thats his name
So Long, Astoria is one of my all-time favorite albums.
21 years later and still every time he sings the line "2015 Riverside its time to say goodbye" I still get goose bumps! Great song!
There aren't words for how much this band, but in particular, the album So Long, Astoria means to me.
Same here!
Amazing album. My bro still has de cd somewhere missed the music from back then was so much better
Not band... Just Kris ... haha... Kris is literally Ataris and the Ataris is Kris :)
We're all growing old, but this song never grows old
Nostalgia. Those were the best days of my life. Youth was joy and freedom. Friends were life.
The acoustic version hits different more sadness and feelings of getting old
I was lucky enough to be at the shoot for the music video for this song. We all got pizza and then they did a concert for us after. It was fucking sick.
Incredible performance. You’re still killing it Kris.
20 years an still the same energy 🤘🏼
This is one of very few albums I know every single word to every single song, takes me back to being 14/15.
Truly legends , his sounds doesnt change for years... the saddest song is been my favorite for over 15 years ❤❤
where is the rest of the band??? He has the same voice from 20 years ago
actually the band doesn't exist anymore.Yesterday in Los Angeles there was been So long Astoria reunion show, The "So long, Astoria" lineup playing their classic album in its entirety
The band still exists, but only kris roe in the band

Missing all the attitude in his voice he’s trying to be more artistic, but we loved him cause he was some angry kid from Indiana not some art snob!
@@markbutscene5902Mike Davenport was arrested in 2018 he was facing 30 years I remember
Kris is such an amazing human being and a great writer. 'So Long, Astoria' is my safe space for my entire life. ♥

What's wrong with tattoos? 🙄
It's not that there's anything wrong with tattoos, it's just, think how many people can say that. Most people wouldn't expect that.

The ones left standing are there to tell the story of the ones who have passed.
Got give some propos to Kris here for being a Left-handed guy and playin' with right guitar without swicthing the beefier strings to the top. That's amazing!
yeah i just noticed that. that is so insanely difficult to do
That’s why his fingering doesn’t make sense to me. I knew it all looked backwards.
Actually, Kris is right-handed. It’s just more comfortable for him to play it left-handed

Ahhhh the memories kicking in.. Good Luck from malaysia
what a legend!. The soundtrack of my youth 💙
This was the soundtrack to my summer. I was 18 or 19. I feel like I lived out these lyrics with a girl I was dating at the time. Life is wonderful :)
He's from my hometown, met him several times. He's a super laid back guy
This song brings back the best and worst memories of growing up. Always a classic 👏
Great job Kris. Dont stop performing.
So long Astoria I wish would have made these guys millions, that album was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Amazin voice!
If anyone wants to know, this song is tuned to EADGG#D#, played using all open power chords.
This song makes me cry. A lot of good memories from the 80's and 90's in my teens and early twenties. You can never go "home" again!
Beautiful.
still one of favorite band and song! love from.the Philippines
The old Mr. Roe still hit the note perfectly. The band so underrated you cant even find the profile of their lead vocal in Wikipedia.
@KRISROE WE LOVE YOU AND YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON!!!!
Saw The Ataris live last night in Mexico city, they still an amazing band, Kris is so talented.
Love this song!!!!!!! So cool!!! I don’t know why …. But I I might cry…
you rocks kris
He looks like my father but have same power in his voice like a young boy like the official video ❤
I can believe he still has the same voice and energy than before., besides this were the the best days of our lives and all that things the matter is in our hearts....to eventually finally get it right.
Fantastic ❤
You rock man ❤this song im hear in 2008 when im college
bring back memories😢

I like that he doesn't have to rhyme his lyrics for the sake of a song. That he just writes what he feels and makes it work. Pretty cool.
My hero ❤️💯
beautiful
Chills!
このパフォーマンスは
1つの完成形だと感じる。
彼の歌声とギター1本で世界を創りきっていると思う。
This performance is flawless
Still got it!
i would love a so long Astoria 2 album

The lyrics of this song are surprisingly wholesome
