  • *How-to begins at 2:33.* If you're fortunate enough to have a balcony, you gotta have a good balcony table to enjoy it! I wanted a collapsible one for ours, but I couldn't find any online that met all my requirements:
    -Big enough size
    -Collapsible
    -Made of treated wood to withstand the outdoor elements
    -Affordable (under $150)
    So I made my own using 5 products. Please use the amazon links below so that I can earn a small commission should you choose to buy these products for your balcony table =) (There's no extra cost when you use my affiliate links...it just helps me out!)
    1. The table top is simply a beautiful solid teak wood shower mat which I purchased on Amazon. Here are a couple size options:
    | 36x20 inches: amzn.to/3ARkqDj ($98)
    | 31.5x19.5 inches: amzn.to/3oXcf5v ($90)
    2. Wood posts. I picked up some scrap pieces for free at the local hardware store and sawed them to the correct length. But here's where you can buy them on Amazon if you prefer: amzn.to/3LQYG0K ($29)
    3. I used these brackets for the collapsible drop-leaf mechanism: amzn.to/42hMonh ($15)
    4. Flexible metal strap with holes: amzn.to/3p2hqRU ($7)
    5. Wood screws. I bought mine at a local hardware store, but if you're on an Amazon kick these'll do the trick: amzn.to/3p6bTJS ($12)
    Other items:
    Chairs: I ordered these outdoor solid teak bar stool chairs to go with it: amzn.to/3oY7ZTn ($210 for 2 chairs). It appears there is a more affordable option from a different brand, but they aren't as tall and the seats are as wide and deep: amzn.to/42jjnaR ($174 for 2 chairs)
    Teak oil to keep your table and chairs looking fresh! amzn.to/3Nz6Xrh ($19)
    Music: Toze & Davium - Waves

    I’ve watched every single video on balcony bars/tables, and for being in college with a balcony and wanting something easy to make w/ minimal tools to do this type of project, this is by far the quickest/simplest way to do this! What a great addition to a balcony!

    I am looking to do the same thing....attaching some sort of foldaway table that utilises the balcony rail. This video is perfect because I knew I had to make the table myself. I just needed the ideas on how to go about that. I love it when people problem solve like this. Great table btw!

      Thanks! The metal fixing bands are wrapped super snugly and fastened with multiple screws to the posts. The table ain't goin' nowhere ;) [edit]: I forgot that the video doesn't show that I attached the posts with fixing bands at the bottom too. So each post is secured in two places-- top and bottom.

    Wow!! I’ve been searching for something like this. Our porch has a thin metal railing. Do you think this will work with that?

    • @itsemmasdilemma
      @itsemmasdilemma  4 роки тому

      I can't say for certain since I don't know what your railing looks like, but common sense goes a long way. Go with common sense.

    Hi, just curious how time table top has held up over time? Thinking about doing this. Thanks!

    • @itsemmasdilemma
      @itsemmasdilemma  2 роки тому +1

      Sturdiness/functionality-wise it has held up perfectly well! Color-wise it could use a coat of teak oil. But that would be the case with any wooden table. Hope that helps!

    How did you secure the posts to the railing? I dont understand how you get it so secure and fastend

    • @itsemmasdilemma
      @itsemmasdilemma  2 роки тому

      See at 2:11 and 2:35 - I used flexible metal fasteners + screws to secure the wood posts to the existing metal poles.
