    Luke that base price of $550 'US, which is roughly £435 in UK pounds sterling, has just blown me away!? I'm 10 months into my astro-imaging journey, after years of visual astro, and I have been on the lookout for a used cooled camera, to progress from my DSLR astro-imaging, and after seeing this video, I can now afford a brand new cooled camera, which is awesome! I am eager to see how well it performs in testing Luke! If will have to be pretty had to put me off buying one, because the price is unbelievable Luke!! Thanks for showing me/everyone these amazingly priced cameras Luke!👌👍

    Pulled the trigger on the Uranus C pro today, been a long time coming, the videos on the subject certainly influenced my purchase. I look forward to putting down the planetary and picking up the DSO. No other camera even comes close to whats been packed into the Uranus C pro for the price. In NINA, the Aberration Inspector shows the adjustments needed for each corner of the sensor, but with the way the tilt adapter was installed here, the adjustment screws are not actually in line with the sensor corners. I wonder how this would actually work at the end. Great video, as always.

    • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Рік тому +1

      Hey mate! - I would suppose it won't matter in the end, someone may have tilt in a corner which aberration inspector would be useful for, but someone else may have tilt across a flat edge which aberration inspector wouldn't be so good for - swings and roundabouts I guess! :-D (you've always got the option to use the 3-point tilter too, like a normal system)

Camera and contents are great, camera drive installed fine but the only issue I am currently facing is I cannot get anything to run with the device port, be it ZWO EAF, EFW or guidescope - have everything running through EQ8-R Pro hub and not had any previous issues so not sure if you also encountered this during your trial?

    Thanks for doing this video! As i've commented on a previous one, I too just took ownership of the Ares-C Pro. Finally had one night (albeit windy) to test it out. As I'm new to these cameras, how important is offset? I set my offset to 50 and a single 300s sub came out amazing. Looking forward to sinking hours on a target. I also did a tilt analysis with ASTAP and out of the box, bolted on (without that extra tilt plate) it was 13% tilted, and the square was pretty right. Which is impressive straight out of the box. One thing i struggled with is focusing, so used to DSLR live view and zooming in. Are you able to do a video with one of these cameras on how you not only focus, but do then finer tilt adjustments?

    • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching Damien! Really glad you've had the opportunity to test out the Ares, that's excellent news!
      Regarding offset, as long as things aren't clipping on your histogram then don't worry about it too much mate!
      Glad that your tilt is pretty low, that should be easy enough to fix with iterative movements and testing! :-)
      On the note of focusing, if you don't have an electronic auto focuser then investing in a bahtinov mask is a superb way to make sure you nail focus every time 👍
      Using one is simple - Slew to a bright star, put the mask on the scope, start a live exposure loop and make the necessary adjustments on your scope focus wheel to align the diffraction spikes. Hope that makes sense!

    • @DamienBoath
      @DamienBoath Рік тому +1

      @@lukomatico hey. Yes that's what I currently do. I'm just finding it really finicky. Previously I could 'zoom in' on live view with APT with DSLR. But this doesn't seem to be an option with the player one cam. Also, in sharpcap, the camera appears 3 times as player one cam 1 then 2 etc. I always choose 1. Not sure why it appears so much. 🤷‍♂️

    Hi Luke. I'm a little late here, but I was looking for a cooled camera with a pixel size less than 3.0um and found the Uranus-C Pro. I'm afraid I'm immersed in the ZWO ecosystem right now, so I'd have to make some adjustments. Physically, would I need to buy anything other than I already have, i.e., could I use the ZWO spacer/filter drawer setup I have with this camera? Hey Luke, thanks for reviewing these cameras for us! I used to have a 533MC Pro and loved it but ended up selling it. • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Рік тому

      Hey there mate! That's a good question, and honestly I think that the 585 can indeed compete with the 533, but they aren't cameras that I personally view as being in direct competition with one another - such differing spec in terms of spectrum sensitivity and pixel size that it would be an apples to oranges comparison I'd say.
      All that aside, the cooled 585 from Player One has been a dream so far, loving it.

    I just did the plate swap on mine and I noticed that the 3 point plate has a small foam ring under it surrounding the sensor area that the 4 point plate does not have. My guess is this stays on the 3 point plate (I did not try to pull it off, but it feels like it is glued in place) and I just thought it was odd that one plate has it and the other doesn't. Do you have any idea what it is for?

    • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Рік тому

      Hey mate! I think the 3 point tilter uses a foam gasket to prevent light leaks at large tilt angles so that's what it probably is, I'm not sure about the 4p tilter having any foam though, I can't remember if mine has it or not! Sorry!

    Great video Luke, and really nice cameras…I would have thought the 4 point tilter adapter should have the adjuster screws aligned with the 4 corners of the sensor and not the 4 sides, as you have instructed…. as it’s the corners that should be adjusted…..🤔🤔

    • @lukomatico
      @lukomatico  Рік тому +1

      Cheers mate! :-D I guess you'd only adjust the corners if only the corners themselves had tilt though, what about it if it's flat across the sides or top! I appreciate you watching my friend! Clear skies :-)

    • @Astro_Shed
      @Astro_Shed Рік тому +1

      @@lukomatico then you adjust 2 corners, normally that is how tilt adjusters work it’s always the corners that should be adjusted not the flat sides
      You could also say what if one corner was out with tilt how would you adjust that with your method ??
      You would have to adjust two screws also so same issue

    • @lukomatico

    Do you have a comparison of image quality between the uranus cooled dso camera and the planetary camera? I saw your earlier video on the un-cooled one and was extremely curious because if I can save several hundred dollars by not getting the heatsink and get still very good results I'd prefer to do that and upgrade to a cooled camera down the line.

      Hi mate, the cooled cam is better slightly due to being able to keep itself chilled, but it's not better by a huge margin :-)

      I have shot some of the same targets with my Uranus-C uncooled camera and compared them to Luke's images. I haven't seen much difference. I honestly think the newer sensors need cooling much less than previous sensors. Take that with a grain of salt, though. I live in Canada and nights are cooler here, in general. Winter nights are much cooler. In a hot setting, like the American Mojave, it might be different.

    I just picked up this camera after playing with your data and debating for some time. First light was last night. I’m processing now, but not sure that I’m doing bias frames correctly. How short should they be for this camera? I’ve read mixed opinions and nothing specific to this camera. Thanks in advance.

      @lukomatico  3 місяці тому +1

      Hey there mate!
      Re: bias, generally speaking for both these cameras they're quite tolerant of settings/parameters for bias, like most CMOS cameras though I'd recommend not going below around 50ms for exposure 👍
      I hope the videos/data were useful!
