Oof my brother played it last year when he was in 7th grade and now I'm in 7th grade and I play cello and I really wanted to play this song but my orchestra director didnt even mention it :(
We played this piece my junior year of high school, and not long after we started rehearsing, a classmate of mine commited suicide. In response, we dedicated this song to him as a goodbye at our final concert of the year and as a decision to rejoice over the fact that he's in a better place now. This adds a solemn note to the song for me now, but I'll always love it. Thank you for uploading this!
This song will forever hold a special place in my heart. A friend of mine passed away earlier this month (he was only 15) and this was played at the funeral. 💜
This is the piece that made me promise to myself in 8th grade that I'd stay in orchestra through all of high school. I'm graduating this year, so I will now make a new promise to keep playing violin through college too.
Same, but a little differently I couldn't keep playing in high school sadly.. I decided on welding but still own my violin to this day and will pass it down my kids when they grow up.
that’s amazing. i’m currently in 8th grade (been playing viola since 6th), and i hope to play all throughout high school. i’m so excited for all the pieces i will play in the future, and i’m so grateful for my orchestra teacher for being so patient and understanding of me ❤️
Also, I'm Catholic, so we have O God Beyond all praising, which is to the same tune, so when we started sight-reading, and I got the melody, I didn't have to look at the paper, I could just play by ear, and my teacher confronted me later and asked if I had gotten that already, and I just told her it was a church hymn that I already knew how to play
With all this corona stuff going on I’m graduating this year and I played this for my last concert. I didn’t know it was my last with this director. This song brings back memories of my friends and my orchestra family and honestly just pure joy because I know that the last time I played this with a full orchestra in front of an audience it was truly amazing and beautiful. Thanks for reading that dude awesome
JUPITERRRR i played this in my seventh grade orchestra, and it was my favorite song at the time, it’s truly gourgeous, one of my favorite songs that i have played 💓
Sometimes I wonder why some music is more famous and loved and some just isn't really heard-of of known-of. I think songs with a distinct melody and a distinct but faint background melody are easier to remember and are much more satisfying. Jupiter has a pattern that's almost always followed and this provides a sense of fulfillment. Anybody agree? ;) and on the other side of the spectrum, I played this is 7th grade orchestra and that was a very hard year for me (although we can agree middle school is hard for everyone...) but whenever I listen to this song, it makes me believe that everything is going to be okay. Anyone else have a song that will never get old - an emotional attachment to a song?
Taylor Kathryn my orchestra played this in 6th grade, mainly the song. An easier version. Then in 8th grade for our last concert, last piece, we played this version again. And I moved away from my school so it reminds me of all the good times I had.
Do you ever listen to a piece of music and get really sad because you're probably never going to be able to play it with a full orchestra again? Cause I feel that way all the time, especially when I listen to beautiful songs like this.
oh my gosh. i remember playing this in 5th grade and we took months to perfect it,,,it felt like i was playing for 20 minutes and my glasses were broken at the night of the concert so it was so hard to see,,,damn time goes by so fast
when i think of this song, i think of all the good times of seventh grade, me becoming very close with my orchestra director, and it’s special to hear these memories all come back💛
ah, the last piece I played in orchestra before I quit violin after COVID hit the next year. Though the violin wasn't for me, I still look back on playing this fondly. It feels like the perfect end credits song to my time as a musician
I taught myself to play this song. It's just so beautiful and easy to play and I hope that if you like it but but don't know where to start, I recommend to just giving it a shot.
1:20 - 2:05 listen to the cellos. There’s just something about the melody that is so beautiful. It gives me goosebumps every single time I hear that part. ❤🎵🎶
I was supposed to perform this as a first violin at the middle school all state (North Carolina), but it got canceled because of Covid. Super disappointed 😢. Listening to this brought me right on back to 7th grade and how much I enjoyed this piece.
This was my favorite piece we played, it was in 6th grade when times were so much easier. When the most stressful thing in life was preparing for the concerts... I miss it all so much. Listening to this song always gives me so much nostalgia. :)
Okay, let’s be honest, this song gives funeral vibes, and at the same time, a joyful song. I’m working on this in orchestra currently and we don’t sound half as good
One part of my brain is thinking wow this beautiful music and the other part is thinking wow why does this music sort of sound like it’s a very sad piece. I’m playing this at school for sixth grade right now
I love orchestra so much I can't express it. I feel emotion for someone I don't even know. This piece is making want to be a Junior High School orchestra teacher.
This brings back sooo many memories Dudee, Remember playing this in 5th grade, I was playing rhe violin, This was something I truly enjoyed playing, Sometimes I wish that old orchestra would get together again, to play this once more, with out refined skills over the years
Anyone complimenting this should go listen to the real Jupiter, the original by Holst. It's amazingly fun to play and honestly no arrangement can do it justice.
I hear this piece and I hear a goodbye. I’m the beginning it’s a dark one where one whishes for the other to stay but they know it’s inevitable for them to stay. soon in the piece the person accepts. the final note is acceptance and a final goodbye.
playing this song in school for orchestra this year, only the kids 8th grade (my grade) can play it bc it’s apparently too hard to play for the other kids :D
I'm guessing the 7 dislikes are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

Sometimes I legit just listen to this song and cry about how beautiful it is and how when I played it in seventh grade times were so much simpler.
