When my wife was a kid there was a Hells Angels local group that her mom apparently knew a few members. She said the Hells Angels always had a soft spot for kids and would give her and the neighborhood kids rides around the block on their choppers. Woe to anyone they see abusing or hitting a child. A most profound understatement. I think, in light of what has occurred in the US over the past 4 years, there is something to be gleaned from the froth of belligerence, braggadocio and pseudo intellect here. The Fairness Doctrine was still in effect at the time, and Ted Turner had not yet hatched perpetual news viewing on cable, so Murdoch's media ascendancy also hadn't yet begun in earnest, his toxic rocket fuel not yet injected round-the-clock into American society. So this is sort of a snapshot of trumpworld in its fetal state.
Until one of them was coked out drunk and decided you insulted 1 of his brothers. Then you would get shit stormed by 10 + "Angels" who would beat you mercilessly.
Outlaw's for me. They literally represent all of society. Some are just scummy, some retarded, some lazy, some psychotic, some nice, others well rounded. They're people, no different than any other fucking men. Only difference, they have a group to be and do whatever they in at any time. They're basically hippies, just wear different clothing, have more testosterone, and do drugs for competitive reasons than for peaceful ones. To each his own
I'm a fan of Geraldo Rivera and the _Hells Angels_ ... also the _Blue Angels_ , but that's another story. Anyway, thanks for the upload of this fascinating show!
Gypsy Punk, Geraldo is Still Condescending and disrespectful. He's a Liberal here in the States who thinks he's Always right and is one of the most annoying Mutha FKers to listen to on FOX News.
He's a wannabe tough guy. Check out his interview with Charles Manson. Sleeves rolled up, looming over the tiny Manson, talking down to him, playing the roll of big man next to a meek little guy. I suppose he has his formula for an audience, but it's an embarrassing spectacle.
See even Jerry gets it.. And i couldnt have answered the question better than he did "I think people are scared because we are sure of ourselves" amen to that
I like that comment "..You come with RESPECT and then you get RESPECTED back.." Damn straight. I had an H/A member and his wife pick me up once on a rainy night. I was trying get back home to Toronto and I was in Oshawa and they said they weren't going there but they would happily drive me to the train station and I thanked them both for the ride. As I turned the H/A member gave $5 for the train. He wore his vest and a beautiful native brave H/A shirt. I thanked them again and I was off.
Love him or hate him. Geraldo and Phil Donahue pretty much changed television. No one was doing these type of stories and sensationalism like those two.
Saw this interview when it first aired back in the 70's they left out the part where Sandy threatened to tear up the studio because Geraldo must have asked a provoking question. Oakland angel had to calm him down.
Look to the end of the first interview, Geraldo shakes his hand and tries to walk away, but pres holds his hand tight and pulls him and says something in his ear. It would be interesting to hear what it was!
I attended an open door club BBQ. Wasn't HA but more a mix of hard core bikers and regular folks. My GF and grandson also attended. Not once did I feel threatened. Nor my GF. My grandson had a blast. I distinctly remember watching my 8 year old interact with a hulking bearded patch wearing biker. This man got down on a child's level in every way. He obviously loved children. There was no doubt that he would have put a child before his own safety. After a few minutes he went to the kitchen area and returned with something wrapped in foil. He handed it to my grandson and told him it was all his and no one will touch it. That stuff sat open on the table and no one took ant without asking my grandson first. That's respect!!! Best damned rice crispy treats ever😁

You know,I was afraid of bikers as a kid in the 70’s,but now I’m older. In the 80’s I had a friend who rode a bike and knew some bikers . We went to a bar where they were and I was a littlintimidated with my coy boy boots ,rodeo buckle and hat,but one found out I liked snakes( his name was Tiny,6’6” 380 lbs) we became good friends just on that and they accepted me and gave me “hang around” status. My friend was a prospect. I’m glad to say,I got these guys as friends
I can say with certainty that Melba Moore was not hired the following year to play Sturgis for the Angels. She's got that Karen Black '70s cross-eyed cute going on
I agree, Geraldo can be a pushy little prick some times...he's always been a publicity hound. I hate when he comes up with those condensing, smarmy line of questions. I don't necessarily endorse the biker life style myself, but he could of just made a rational argument without being antagonistic. Ya he should have got a thumpin' is right
It’s so bizarre watching shit from the 70’s.i was born in 82 and it blows my mind how much has changed just in my lifetime.everything seems so low key compared to now
I finish concrete for a living, and one day a couple years ago we got a load of mud and the driver got out to put the chutes on when I noticed his t-shirt, it was the HA logo, I said "cool shirt" to which the driver replied, "thank you, I earned it", I didn't ask how because it wasn't none of my business, but I'm sure he did.
I really like the Hells Angels honesty in these interviews. The real love and respect for each other is incredible. It seem there are so many obstacles in the world if you want some freedom in your life. Hope the Hells Angels are the same today as they were in the early days. Also can an Angel or anyone let me know why there is not an apostrophe in the word Hells after the second L.Thanx and respect to you all.

Big Vinny Girolamo 30:36 killed in 1979. Vinny died from an injury to his spleen after a fight with oakland Hell's Angel president Michael Irish O'Farrell. Vinny wife died in 1977 possibly murdered by big Vinny. Vinny was accused, but he died before a trail date.
O, Farrell was killed by a member of the Aryan Brotherhood in an Ambush outside bar. The reason was is because the Aryan Brotherhood member feared O, Farrell would beat his ass again to collect money a drug debt. O, Farrell had already beat the guy up two months prior. When O, Farrell came out of the bar, the Aryan Brotherhood member stabbed him five times in the back, once in the chest, and once in the neck, before shooting him four times from behind with a .25 caliber pistol while he was dying.
I wonder if Geraldo himself realizes how annoying he comes off, as he's talking to the camera with that stupid condescending grin. Also when he's 'interviewing' the guests. Actually, I'm trying to think of a different way to describe him besides annoying and condescending, but I can't put my finger on it.
Geraldo seems gay there....wth? Go into prison with a scarf around your neck? Dude! Jerry Garcia lived across the street from the Angels at 710 Ashbury in '67. Blues forever, forever blues!
I can't speak to knowing any Hells Angels, but a local Outlaw Club did me a solid a time back. I was flying home from work on a bright yellow Japanese sports bike when I came to a set of lights with a long line of vehicles ahead of me. It was a dual carriageway, so I unlawfully filtered through doing about 35 miles an hour. Two cars back from the front I spot about 8 Harley riders sitting dutifully at the traffic lights. 1% barely ever sit in traffic like that, so I blip passed them only to realise it's Bros MC. I wouldn't buzz a crew like that but the lights were about to change so I committed rather than end up pressed between a narrow corridor of cars. So the lights turn green, I give it a handful and fly the front wheel accross the intersection. This is when I realised my second mistake. In the oncoming lane is a Highway Patrol Car, with both cops staring straight at me. They hit the lights and tried to U-turn to catch me, but by know the Club guys had taken off as well. Now it was a 20 mph zone due to road works so the pack was doing just that while I split, but they were also filling both lanes so the by now furious cops were well and truly stuck behind them. I don't know if it was intentional or whether they just didn't give a fuck about the cops, but I got home without having my bike impounded or my licence revoked for dangerous driving. If I come across a member from that club in a bar one day, the drinks on me.
Had pleasure of having a few wobbly pops with Sandy. He was in a bar w/o colors, i had no idea who he was until he left, the bar tender told me . My buddies had him cracking up on a day he seemed down and out. He was a great guy. Fun to talk with, genuine and real.
I remember when i was a young teenager, maybe 12-13, i lived in Huntsville Al. The Hells Angels came thru town and the law shut down the entire Parkway ,turned off all traffic lights just so they wouldnt have any reason to stop. Folks were scared shitless of these men. Teenage boys wanted to BE them and girls wanted to be in LOVE with them. Our parents instilled fear in us regarding these men. The media did their part too. I think the values they stood for then and even now are something to be admired. Its ironic that the media never told the GOOD they did back then , its bout the same thats reported now. Maybe SAD would be a better word . Somebody explain to me how the hell did Geraldo stay on so long when hes such an unlikeable man? Thank God I'm not the only one. I thought my headphones broke.

Lol
Love him or hate him, Geraldo had a pretty rad talk show and house band. The 70’s were awesome!
Jerry Garcia, straight up. You gotta respect a man who just tells the truth.
and got the top of his middle finger lopped off by one
💯 no bs
Jerry Garcia was a smart man and he liked hanging around with the Hell's Angels and he said if you don't fuck with them they won't kill you that's the way it is if you're stuck on the road to hells Angels will pull right over and help you in charities they give to all kinds of charities well I was helping him load three vans full of brand new bicycles for toys at tots and then he cleaned out the toy section but the media will never print that I'm 71 years old and I was raised by that club there are good and bad in everything but the media lumps all the Angels that's character assassination wolf Lynn Massachusetts
The mark of a real man is discipline and self control.

That and a pair of testicles...
Aaron TatarynAnyone know if this is the same girlfriend 'Big' Vinny allegedly pushed off a 6 story building 3 years after this program was aired?
Oh, really? Ok hard man.
Garcia was so cool, never a bad thing to say about anyone. Such a positive soul, sorely missed
T Bird he works for Fox News now.
He was talking about Jerry Garcia not Geraldo Rivera.

T Bird Word!
Geraldo, Imus, Hells Angels, and Garcia..an hour of culture overload
A most profound understatement. I think, in light of what has occurred in the US over the past 4 years, there is something to be gleaned from the froth of belligerence, braggadocio and pseudo intellect here.
The Fairness Doctrine was still in effect at the time, and Ted Turner had not yet hatched perpetual news viewing on cable, so Murdoch's media ascendancy also hadn't yet begun in earnest, his toxic rocket fuel not yet injected round-the-clock into American society. So this is sort of a snapshot of trumpworld in its fetal state.
the biggest degenerate of the group is Geraldo
“Don’t convict somebody of what they are, convict them of what they’ve done”
Honestly, I don't think I'd even think about going up to a Hells Angel and reaching for his knife without asking WAY in advance. 😎
Geraldo is such a dork, not in a cute way!
Back in those days a werewolf could play drums and didn't have to hide in the shadows.
Yesh I've been feverishly trying to find out who the drummer is for Melba's song!

No surprise, Angels have the same lack of intelligence as you. You can throw fascists out of helicopters too
Lol “Angels are have the same lack of intelligence as you.” Dumbass
you got that right..!
Until one of them was coked out drunk and decided you insulted 1 of his brothers. Then you would get shit stormed by 10 + "Angels" who would beat you mercilessly.
I used to hang out with a few Hell's Angels when I rode over to Red Rock West Saloon, a biker bar. Never judge a book by it's cover.
To each his own
I just saved money,by switching to Geico, for my panhead

I'm a fan of Geraldo Rivera and the _Hells Angels_ ... also the _Blue Angels_ , but that's another story. Anyway, thanks for the upload of this fascinating show!
Like the Angels or not, Geraldo couldn't have been more rude and disrespectful.
Gypsy Punk
I believe you mean condescending.
Gypsy Punk, Geraldo is Still Condescending and disrespectful. He's a Liberal here in the States who thinks he's Always right and is one of the most annoying Mutha FKers to listen to on FOX News.
true.
Gary Price just the fact that it's on faux news shows you what a piece of shit he is
He's a wannabe tough guy. Check out his interview with Charles Manson. Sleeves rolled up, looming over the tiny Manson, talking down to him, playing the roll of big man next to a meek little guy. I suppose he has his formula for an audience, but it's an embarrassing spectacle.
I give Geraldo credit for asking them the questions that most would be too afraid to ask. Many innocent people suffered from their actions.
Lot of Angels back then had SAG cards - as does Barger
Look to the end of the first interview, Geraldo shakes his hand and tries to walk away, but pres holds his hand tight and pulls him and says something in his ear. It would be interesting to hear what it was!
Like van Vader and the undertaker
I'm so glad I found this gem.
"........they're doing it for keeps......" - Jerry Garcia. Possibly the most meaningful quote on the internet

Are we going to ignore the fact that the drummers hair was the best thing about geraldos show?!
the best thing about his show is when he had a few Hell's Angels visit him
Was the drummer Don Henley???? LOL
Man geraldo has been around forever! I feel old as shit now and this was filmed a year before I was born. Crazy
He did a piece on Elvis' death and the pills he took that killed him, soon after as well

I can say with certainty that Melba Moore was not hired the following year to play Sturgis for the Angels. She's got that Karen Black '70s cross-eyed cute going on
Didn't know HR was around that early or perhaps I forgot. This was much better programming than Al Capone's Vault. His band was pretty good too.
lol You can hear these guys sigh while Geraldo is asking his long tedious questions.
Geraldo needs a thumpin' and I just started the interview..

Hes very condenscending and i was hopeing one of these big burly dudes would pimp smack him, Vinny held his cool when he grabbed his knife .
