I'm not honestly a fan of the term "single payer" because all of the "single payer" systems being proposed require a great deal of people to be taxed for it. "Single Payer" is a term intended to be deceptive. The government is not paying for healthcare. They aren't the ones paying. It can't pay for healthcare or anything. It can't do anything without first taking. That's why "single payer" is a misnomer. Not to mention there's the added cost with using a middle man to negotiate on your behalf. Now if anyone can tell me that the government can in fact pay for this at no cost to myself and we could therefore eliminate taxation, then sure, I'm on board. I just don't think that's very likely.
little unfair. i’m sure you understand that you will be paying either way. just will it be collected through a corporate racket or the tax man. what we lose from the single payer system is the ability to opt out.
@@AJewFR0 You lose more than that. You can't opt out and you can't have options anymore than you'll be allowed to judge for yourself if what you paid is worth what you got.
@@billmelater6470 The single payer is a government solution to problems created by the government, including: government restrictions on drugs and doctors. Without the single payer the free market is just an illusion. It's not a free market if the government decides who can practice medicine or which drugs can be sold on the market. It's just a government granted monopolies, ie. government. The proof of this is medical tourism because governments can only restrict market access within their countries, they can't do that externally for the most part.
Tom Hanks seems to be a good economist

@@AJewFR0 The corporate racket and single payer is the same thing: the corporate state. Snouts in the trough either way. It's not a free market.
