    That must be the flexivolt 414 like the one I have . That grinder is a mean machine , I use it daily and it has never let me down on important heavy jobs . I scored me a couple of 12 amp flexivolt and Maan my work hours are done in half the day . Apart from the 414 I am seriously getting the DeWalt 418 which has more runtime, bit more power . Also I am thinking of getting a Milwaukee cordless grinder for my Milwaukee platform cause of colliding contracts that I do suiting general steel fabricating to carpentry related work... Almost there . Waiting for a good Milwaukee grinder to arrive .. if ever one does

    The 414 flex grinder is one of the best cordless tools ever made. The ergonomics the switch the handle the power the run time. Fast charger and no fuss at 60v. Spindle nut is nice too. Now we have 418 and 440. Dewalt 60v is another class of tool. Milwaukee HO okay for small job. But cost is to high for the performance and heat damage to batteries.

    I love both DeWALT and Milwaukee cordless tools. I own 25+ DeWALT and 10+ Milwaukee cordless tools. I have noticed that the Milwaukee batteries go into thermal overload or over heating mode very often. That really kills the tools performance when you are depending on getting a job finished!

      @Impact-OG  4 роки тому +1

      Oh nice man, Yeah I dont have many larger tools that draw a lot of power like the angle grinder, but it did over heat the 3.0 HD, 5.0 , 6.0 HD, and the 9.0 HD battery's, it wasn't able to over heat the 8.0 or the 12.0 those are both the High Demand battery's and work really well.Thanks for watching man..

    • @missingegg
      @missingegg 3 роки тому +6

      @@Impact-OG I think you're being a little unfair here. The power draw of the angle grinder means that it is best paired with a "high output" m18 battery, which is their newest line of batteries utilizing 21700 cells instead of the older 18650 cells found in the high demand and extended capacity series of batteries. You're giving good info to let people know that their existing investment in M18 batteries might not be good enough for a new angle grinder, but the tool paired with the proper battery shouldn't have the same heat issues.

    • @philipjohn4149
      @philipjohn4149 2 роки тому +3

      I have all the grinders. Dewalt is so much better. Milwaukee at 6 or 9 in will damage 18v battery even a 12. In fact the 6 is the best for Milwaukee... for heat protection and to now end the life of HO batteries. A 6 will have a higher amp rating per cell and handle the tripping out better. Won't have the runtime... but 2 -6 amph will. And destroying a 12 has lost all run time. It's such an issue at 18v that Milwaukee really should buy back the big tools and bats that cant handle the heat.

      18/20v just can't compete with 54/60v. You have to give Milwaukee credit for doing as well as they did with 1/3 the voltage.

    • @connors.1077
      @connors.1077 3 роки тому

      @@redrhino3041 The current through any given cell is the same, but the current (amperage) through the interconnects, power electronics, and motor is ~3 times higher in 18V tools. This isn't necessarily a good thing, as wasted power (heat) is proportional to the square of current, and partially explains why even recent Milwaukee Fuel tools tend to have more issue with thermal cutoffs than Dewalt FlexVolt tools. Dewalt has different challenges working with high voltages since the control electronics are higher resistance, motors need to be wound differently, and PCB traces need to be further apart for voltage isolation reasons.

      Could have a wire broke in the brushless motor. Which is pretty much impossible to repair. But could also be the gearbox getting worn out. Some proper greasing might have saved it but who knows. That's the problem with grinders. Lots of heat, lots of fragile internals, and it takes is a big spark finding it's way inside to burn a wire. Or just a short from a battery frying the tool.

    Would love to see part 2 brotha!
    I just bought the Flexvolt Grinder myself. I have Milwaukee’s Gen 1 Fuel and it’s awesome for smaller tasks. I went with the Dewalt because of the power. It doesn’t surprise me all the non-high output batteries over heated on you. I think that’s why Milwaukee introduced the High Output batteries to begin with, because their standard XC packs can’t take the draw tools like angle grinders need in order to perform. Great video brotha look forward to seeing part 2!

    I have Milwaukee and Dewalt tools. I actually own this Dewalt grinder. It's a beast. But if you are gonna compare at least make it fair. Use high output Milwaukee batteries which were intended for this tool. Also you say Dewalt cut it in half the time. Well Dewalt cut in 1:23, Milwaukee in 2:03. Using HO battery it would have been even closer. Also did you use two identical wheels?

So yes the 12 Ah battery will be more of an even playing field for the Milwaukee but you are going to want to check out the voltage which we know, and explains the power difference. FWIW I still recommend there Milwaukee Brushless fuel model as it is a power house and I cut through rebar in seconds at work! This guy doesn't have a good blade and it is all about blades when cutting through steel, we all can agree on that. Maybe that Milwaukee blade was for mild steel? Who knows. • @PyroAnonymous
      @PyroAnonymous 2 роки тому

      Incorrect. Both batteries are 9AH @ 18v/20v max, but the flexvolt is actually 3 AH @ 60v max.
      The only reason the Milwaukee cut out was because of Thermal Resistance the tool faces because of the 18v battery. Higher voltage is actually better because you'll need less amps to achieve the same power compared to something running at a lower voltage.
      Amps is what's responsible for generating heat in the wires which causes thermal resistance, which bogs down the tool. To overcome the resistance, you'll need to draw more amps, and more amps = more heat.

    Milwaukee decided to stick with the M18 platform to keep their customers happy. That came with some serious consequences due to the limitations of lower voltage/higher current. They HAVE done an incredible job of delivering with the HO batteries while still making the tools work(albeit with lower performance) with the standard batteries. Both great tool manufacturers with great tools. If that 9ah battery was hot going on the charger and you just got it off the charger(especially a rapid charger), it doesn't take a lot to get it into thermal shutdown. A 12, 8, or 6 HO should fare better. I don't use the rapid charger unless I'm in a time crunch. Fast charging will almost certainly shorten battery life, but then again, a 2000 charge cycle rated battery can be charged every day for 5 1/2 years, so maybe not an issue at all. Just my anal retentive nature about battery care, I suppose. I would like to see Milwaukee put a cooling fan on their chargers like Makita.

    A 9 Ah Flexvolt battery can output a max of 105A in 18v mode. Or 35A in 54v Flexvolt mode. Vs the ~55A of a 9.0 Milwaukee @ 18v.
    That's ~1890W vs. ~1,000W, nearly double the potential output. You really shouldn't be surprised that the 9.0 HD or the 6.0 HO overheat or run hot.
    Makes more sense to compare 6.0 Flexvolt vs. 6.0 HO, both are capable of ~70A peak output even though the Flexvolt uses an extra bank of 18650s.
    Or 12.0/9.0 Flexvolt vs. 12.0 HO. 12.0 vs. 12.0 is the most ideal comparison because both packs use the exact same Samsung 40T cells.

    The 9.0 Milwaukee is comparable to the 6.0/2.0 Flexvolt. The 9.0/3.0 and 12.0/4.0 Flexvolt batteries use bigger cells like the HO Milwaukee batteries making those two comparable to the 12.0 Milwaukee. Milwaukee also pairs that grinder with the HO8.0 in the kit. That tells me that you shouldn't even attempt to use an 18650 pack on it. Yes I know they say everything is compatible and every battery works with every tool but that doesn't mean every battery works well with every tool or that you should use any battery with any tool.

      Hey thanks for your feed back. I guess I was just disappointed that the 9.0 was over heated so quickly. I have tested every battery from 12,9,8,6,5,3 On the new angle grinder I go over it more in part 2. As for the flexvolt I have sold all my other stuff and only have the 9.0 left so I have to use what I got. So stick around for part 2 I go over all the battery's including the new 8.0 HO.

    what would happen if Milwaukee had a 60 volt battery??? Put a 18 volt battery in the DeWalt and see what happens!

    when you cut with a grinder you should pull the grinder to you not away from you, you have more control by pulling it

    Instead of testing a 60v vs a 18v... why not test an 18v vs an 18v. That would be a better comparison.
