I wish this video would've been out a year sooner, when i installed a subwoofer system in my 2020 explorer, i had to deal with just barely peeling back the rear panel to solder in my hi-lo converter, thankful there was a grommet i could use right behind the battery, it was barely big enough for my 1/0 gauge power wire(running a 3k watt rms sound system in my explorer). i may go back in and clean up a little knowing those hooks are actually screw heads now.
I'm thinking about getting a new explorer myself so this video is a treasure trove of information. I saw that t-harnesses are now available which is the way I will go if I do it and is how I've integrated my amp into my current Equinox.
Dropping bass is nice, but for me, them lows below 30hz is what matters most. (24hz-29hz) If the sub/enclosure that small can get loud that low, and be clean, It would be Amazing. Anyway, I love the way you guys work. Been binge watching the full system installs.
Cars resonate at about 37hz you waste power driving subs down past the normal human hearing levels you just need to hit about 30hz and tune off the subwoofers at about 60hz with an 18db per octave crossover then bring in the midbass drivers and up youll get more then enough sound the amp won't overheat and you probably won't blow a properly tuned system. I always tuned systems by ear, but Rockford started putting on clip leds making the job child's play. Want nice clean tight bass stop trying to play down so low. Its pointless.
I've always wondered why you would do a passive front system when you have the channels and DSP available to do it active? It appears that the extra control this would give you would be a massive benefit to SQ.
To go active you need as many amp channels and you have speakers. In this case you would need 6 channels for highs and 1 for bass. That would bring that budget higher and not everyone has that budget. Going passive would allow the customer to enjoy a good sounding system and stay in budget.
I do offer plug & play harness kits for the 2020 and up fords with the new style plugs including the explorer with the base model non b&o stereo to add any type of system without any wire cutting .
I have a 2022 explorer ST with the B&O system. The system is ok. Would like more bass. Any recommendations on what to do? Like just replace the 8 inch woofer or would you have to add another amp just for the woofer
7:45 Its crazy that they have to make an engine sound throatier. I had 5.2 v8 my dodge that sounded mean, but the v6 version was just as aggressive. Its all in the muffler. Shame that they have to suppress that...
What was the decision process for using the factory wiring as opposed to running new speaker wire? Is it just the OE replacement characteristic of the speakers you used? Is there a reason I shouldn't do what you did if I'm NOT using these speakers?
I see there is a floor heater under the amp bracket. It looks like it is a blind area. Do you think there needs to be a screen of some sort to keep any thing from falling in the hole?
Im curious if you have any vids that would have advice on what types of speakers to choose when upgrading your factory speakers. For example components or full range for the rear doors in a 4 door sedan. And does adding 6x’s to the rear deck actually make a difference?
If your car didn't have factory components in the rear doors, you don't upgrade with aftermarket components. You upgrade with coaxials, or mount up components and cut out a spots for the tweets if you want to be different. Most cars are setup for front stage so rear door speakers are there to add surround sound fill.
After seeing the results of the auto-correction by the DSP, would you say that I could get away with the same setup, except using the LC-5.1300? I have the same car.
Would you take a similar approach, summing the factory signal into a DSP, for a 2022+ Tundra that has the JBL system? It doesn't appear that anyone makes any kind of integration for those trucks.
Cant wait to watch this one, was wondering if anyone can help me with an issue, i taped my three rca cables together and forgot to sort them out so now I have no idea which wire is which. Any way to identify wires using multimeter or would i have to take out the rca cables from my car?
@@TorqueMediaau I did what you said today while working on my car and it worked perfectly all matched up correctly. Thank you so much. Cheers From Sydney Australia
Continuity check, connect one lead to an rca plug, other lead connect to other end of rca bundle until it beeps, when it beeps, thats the same rca wire.
I love how you put the audio control amp right over the top of the catalytic converter right where it gets a nice red hot under car heater to keep the main board hot. No problem ive installed many a amps like that. But its ok the floor heat vent will help move air under it. Hold it audio control used to come in a white box that said do not deep fry or statue. Didn't say anything about a convection oven. Dam I miss the version 1 epicenter.
😂😂😂 cat converter doesnt get red hot. And its under the car with a heat shield between it and the body. The amp is inside the car, the heat will never get to that amp. You make no sense. Exhaust heat never gets to the floor to point it can be felt. 😂😂😂😂
Dean in the lab Jack, he lost me when he pulled that panel and started talking tuner and fake engine noise and this stuff is why driveway zealous installers be depressed when they can't get it right and they have all the stuff and desires to pull it off um. This is why you pay the man
Additional.... why not use a fab harness, say from LLJ Stereo Fab for all the connections at the back? Zero cutting of the OEM harness and zero warranty Hasell.
For what it's worth, I would much rather see full projects released less often as one video rather than in multiple parts. It would be more coherent. Maybe consider doing something more like an install of the week segment?
Hoping someone can help. I installed a sub in my 22' Explorer with B&O and I'm having inconsistent audio. LC2i off sub high level, similar to the Five Star F150 video I'm seeing bass fall off over volume #20. But what's odd is if I play a test tone at almost any volume, bass fades out after about ten seconds. It's a very smooth controller fade to almost zero volts, quickly turn the volume down and back up again and full bass signal comes back. I have an o'scope and Fordscan, so I can run some tests if anyone has an idea. Haven't tried front door signal (worked in F150 video) but I might try that next. - thanks.
I believe the LC2 has a control that says Accu base and that’s exactly what it’s for. The newer systems tune, the bass down as the radio gets louder to protect the speakers. But that Accu base control we have to find out the golden spot, but use that and it will help avoid that issue.
Why do some Fords have BO? Don't they stink? DEAN: Your correct, batteries vent gases, especially when charging. That's why it's never a good idea to keep a car battery in a house. It can even cause an explosion! So for Ford to have the battery venting gases straight into the cabin air intake is a little asinine to me as well.
The mobile solution poliarty tester. 250 bucks. WTF. I gave like 24 bucks off a snap on truck some 30 years ago for a Speak Right poliarity tester. My dumbass loaned it to a customer who ??? Blew the dam thing up. That was about 12 years after i bought it. To my surprise they were no longer made. Tip, if you look on the back of any speaker the inputs are always the same i cant remember off hand but i think the left terminal is postive its the same on any speaker its always the same ecpt JBL PRO 1000 WATT speakers they are backwards. They are ment to run backwards. Dosnt matter becuse speakers are AC complaint motors. We just test with dc pulse. Or a speaker phase tester.
😂 it doesnt matter to a point. Yes you can flip polarity, but polarity flipped, good luck in getting performance out of that driver. Speakers are designed to push out. Not inwards unless the driver is inverted.

Extremely helpful video. Lots of knowledge skill sets demonstrated. Five stars!
Your wiring is always so satisfying to watch. Lol happy Easter Dean and Fernando! Have a safe one guys!
Another great work from 5✨
You 2 okes are legends. Excellent job.
@ 50:18 your Work Table Top looks like the Surface of the Moon. Lol👍
I want that installation on my 2021 st
Great video and work! What would it run to have that system installed in a 22 Explorer ST with the 14 speaker system?

Clean and very professional. What's an install like this run a guy though. Looks far more in depth then I've seen your local visions do lol.
You guys are great, more Audison and boutique stuff please! Love it.

In terms of the install/labor for this set up, front to back, what would the labor cost? Excellent work fellas, Thank you.
Nice install
I've always wondered why you would do a passive front system when you have the channels and DSP available to do it active? It appears that the extra control this would give you would be a massive benefit to SQ.
It depends on what the customers want with the budget they have. They would've done it if the customer allowed them to.

If I am using RCA with my AMP where do I hook them up on my 2022 Ford Explorer XLT?
I can't find this access hole through the firewall anywhere.

You can use forscan to turn off the FENG. Why go thru the trouble to re-equalize the sound to hide the engine noise, just turn it off.
Great work! Earned a sub!

very nice, what did this installation run?
Why didn't Dean show us how the focal emblem was made? Glowforge ?
What does this cost?
That’s what I want to know I’d drive there to get this done.
Why didnt you just put the 5 channel amp in the trunk area undef the cargo floor ?
What was the decision process for using the factory wiring as opposed to running new speaker wire? Is it just the OE replacement characteristic of the speakers you used?
Is there a reason I shouldn't do what you did if I'm NOT using these speakers?
How much is this set up? I bought my wife a 2022 explorer and I’m wanting to get a set up for hers.
Nice job.
Im trying to find the best location for a loc2 on a 2015 ford explorer xlt non sony system
I see there is a floor heater under the amp bracket. It looks like it is a blind area. Do you think there needs to be a screen of some sort to keep any thing from falling in the hole?
If you were pulling a high level signal for just a subwoofer amp, would you use the front speakers or rear speakers as your source for a LOC?
Do you record the car wiring colours in a database for future use?
Im curious if you have any vids that would have advice on what types of speakers to choose when upgrading your factory speakers. For example components or full range for the rear doors in a 4 door sedan. And does adding 6x’s to the rear deck actually make a difference?

when can i get mine done and how much
Any idea what size speaker is the rear panel from the third row?
What would this install cost?

Whats going on with the Orion 2250 Beast heatsink mounted on the wall ??? (asking for a friend) :)
Roarrrrrr like I’m a V8…..but I’m not. 😂😂😂😂😂
Could get a copy of the amp rack template at time 42:00? Anyone?
Good morning God bless tgif 💓

test the resistance across the wires using a multimeter

Where are they located
is there a specific harness plug and play harness for 21 f150 with 8inch screen.
What’s a BO system?
Does this install work for the b&o system?
Anyone know what soldering iron that is?
