"All my stories have been told except for one" that line hits me right in the feels. I've always interpreted that, based on how he looks back at Octavia as he says that, he means that his last story is raising her and watching her grow up. A very sweet sentiment for demon.
It always seemed to be to be a very sad line, that death was the only story left to him. Which I think is counterbalanced by his excitement of being with Blitzo. Like he finally made life worth living again.
I fear you might be right but I optimistically hope that we shall hear a refrain where he sees his new life coming together, where finally has something to live for. See I disagree that his final story is death, it was seeing her grow up. That was the only thing he was expected to do with his life and once she’s grown he is useless. Down to the stupid hat. Edit: Happy now?
As a single father of a 4 year old daughter, I connect deeply with stolas, like his character mirrors myself emotionally, and mentally, someone who has been damaged by everyone around him, lonely, depressed and longing for meaningful connections, and in the end caring for his daughter is his one and only place of pure happiness. Making sure she is ok is all that truly matters in the end, even after he is gone. I feel that, this song makes me tear up every time I see it.
Seeing how characters like Stolas, Octavia, Charlie and Moxxie aren’t entirely evil and have a more kind and caring side to them, it makes me feel bad for them. To live in a world of eternal torture and punishment against their will where they’ll be hopelessly slaughtered once a year to quell overpopulation, makes you feel sad for people like Stolas
I'm really confused about what death means in the Hazbin universe. There's a moment in the Hazbin pilot where Angel jokes about being immortal when Vaggie threatens him. He basically says, 'what's gonna happen to me? Am I gonna be double dead? Get used to me because i'm not going anywhere.' Meaningless characters appear to die all the time, so what is actually happening? I love the series but I find this is a bit of a plot hole.
@@ClubSoda98 You STILL don't know how death works here? Fair enough, then. What you're about to read has been known for over a year now. Since Stolas is in the hospital, I NEED Octavia to sing this (to Stolas or to herself) when she's crying, so that way even though her father is badly injured, she knows he's still alive. Such an amazing father, giving her things he himself never had.
Nah man, just hearing this song gets me sobbing every time... If Tavia would sing this to Stolas... It would shatter millions of hearts out there (in all the best way, brilliant idea!) 😭💖
Fun theory. This was one of stolas sights. Since his powers is to read the stars and basically looking into the future he’s aware that one day all of life and creation will eventually come to an end and the universe will collapse in on itself. He’s pretty much telling his daughter (this is what my understanding is) he will pass when everything ends but she will live through it. Again just a theoretical thought .
Literal chills, man. It’s crazy the way that the amount of love Stolas has for his daughter shows throughout this artwork of a song. The fact that he would literally go to the ends of the universe is just beautiful.

Listening to this again is… a lot. Stolas is only around 35. He feels like there’s very little left for him- when in reality the complete opposite is true. He thought love would be fun because of Blitzo, but he was forced into something utterly loveless and harmful. Right then as he sang to Octavia, he truly was a bird trapped in a cage with little hope of ever venturing outside. Maybe, just as Octavia enters the cusp of adulthood, Stolas will finally be able to write his own stories instead of others penning them for him.
@@HelpIess Yeah? What I mean is that he very clearly had a crush on Blitzo as a kid, which colored what he thought romantic relationships might be like.
He's actually even YOUNGER here, if you do the math after S2E1. We don't know exactly how old he was when he got married, but we know Octavia is 17 in present time, and it was 25 years between kiddo! Stolas and the affair. And we know the affair is R E C E N T. Likely less than a year recent. So Octavia was 16 or 17 at the time of affair. Let's go with 17. 25-17 =8, meaning that Stolas, who fandom seems to agree was probably a MAX amount of ten in the kiddo flashback, likely got married sometime between 16 and 18, tops. And that's assuming that both Stolas and Stella made a lot of effort for that egg from the get go and Via was hatched the same year they got married. She's maybe 4 or 5 in this flashback? Which puts Stolas somewhere between 21 and 23, 24 tops. So young to be a father, and trapped in an abusive marriage beside.
He may have it rough with his wife, but in my eyes, Stolas is a phenomenal father to Octavia. He's always there for her, comforting her, singing to her, and putting her needs before his own. I can't help but smile when he does so. He's doing what every father should do... Protect his beloved child. The ending of the Loo Loo Land episode shows all of this. As a side note, Octavia looks adorable in this flashback. I cannot deny that.
It was nice seeing Stolas as less than an imp loving deviant and more of a loving father. This episode changed my opinion of the guy in a good way. Not all demons are bad I would know I am one lols.
Even in the looloo land ep, he just tried. He just had no better idea (like many divorced fathers). But he tried. He is so good damn written. He doesn't know the best, but for the love of god, he tires. He cares so much for Octavia and it shows in every scene they are both involved. Best proof for me is, when in looloo land ep, they make up and he carries her out. There is another assassin, he doesn't care, he just inst kills him. He just wants to be with his daughter at this point. That series has so many small character details, but that really made me think different of stolas.
@@cocksquancher2916 Hellva Boss and Hazbin Hotel are both awesome for a lot of reasons, one of the many great things they do is make it painfully clear that even the seemingly worst scumbags are better then you think. Stolas is severely misunderstood. Even though he has a bad life he still cares for his daughter. In the Goetia manor, the only pictures Stolas smiles is when he is with his own daughter. Although Stolas likes Blitzø he still loves Octavia most in the world. He use the grimore to literally open a portal to a dying solar system just to calm her down after she had a nightmare.
It's those of a father putting up a brave front so his child doesn't have to worry. Demon he may be but Stolas wants to keep Octavia's childhood as innocent as possible
1:33 to 1:40 is my favourite part. The way the visuals mesh with the vocals is so amazing that it gives me chills and I love it, especially the shot at 1:37. This whole sequence is just so beautiful and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched just this section.
This hits even harder now, after 'Mastermind'. I wonder if we're going to get an Octavia reprise, her singing this to her father? That would be lovely.
I don't want to lie, despite being a 19 years old man, this song made me shed a lot of tears for how stunningly beautiful it is,my father was a very sensitive man who worked all of his life in order to mantain his family and unfortunately died a couple of months ago,me and the rest of my family still miss him a lot so I can definitely relate to a character like Stolas
I wanted to cry after hearing this song. It's so wholesome. It makes me so happy to see the love and care Stolas has for Octavia and how he lets her know he will always love and care for her no matter what. Although the humour introduced me to Vivienne, it's the story and characters that make me want to stay for moments like these.

I needed this song. I’ve recently had a tough spell and have thought about trying again to end myself. Helluva Boss has brought me to new ways of seeing things and seeing myself. This song took that to another level, and I *think* I’m finally comfortable in my life. I’m not “better” as some might say, but I’m getting there. This song resonates with me for similar reasons. Sometimes you need a song you can hum to yourself when the world seems to crash all around you. Just a reminder that you will be okay.
My dad was my best friend and a wonderful father, and I lost him when I was 15 to cancer. This song makes me think of him, the love and assurance that she's strong enough to make it after he's gone with the memories of his love alone just hits.
I love the little details in the shows themes. For instance in both this song and Moxxies bad trip one they use “ok” and not “perfect” or “great”. It makes it seem more down to earth and realistic to me. They both realize that they’ll make mistakes, and that problems will arise in the future, but despite that they still hope things will be better.
I really love the message about her being ok when Stolas is gone, and all the love he feels for her, but damn, he basically says that: “You know, my life is kinda finished, my dreams of happiness and loving partner are shattered, and now you are the only bright and exciting thing in my life, so yeah. Oh, and also, when I’ll die, you’ll be ok” Pretty heavy stuff u know
The production and talent here just blows me away. I love this man's voice as well. This song gives me goosebumps. I'd love to see these guys work with a massive budget.
What an absolutely powerful song and scene. The visuals along with the lyrics are awe inspiring. I'm a recent fan, and I'm here to stay. It'll be okay.

Same, and I think part of it is just that my own relationship with my family in general is so distant, but also how, in spite of my own general disinterest in parenting, seeing such sweet moments like this provokes an emotional reaction of sympathy. Little Via is so adorable too, in spite of an initial vibe that she was spoiled. Later on, I especially felt sympathy for her in the 3rd act, like other characters who suffer broken family life (which I'm privileged enough to not have suffered, which probably provokes a sympathetic response as well)
What I really love about Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel is the fact they don’t make one-sided characters. It’s set in hell, so obviously pretty much every character is going to have traditionally “bad” traits (murderers, sexual deviants, substance addicts, the list goes on) but yet I love so many of them because it shows the truth: that a being can be awful and still somehow good. Stolas has done bad things, will do bad things, and in a way represents bad things in of himself, but he loves his daughter more than anything in the world and he really, really wants her to be happy. It may be just a silly goofy show about badass murderers and shit, but god it’s amazing.

That might have something to do with all 4 of those characters being born in hell to begin with?

Actually he sang this before he met blitzo again, he was talking about Stella being a jerk
@@HelpIess Yeah? What I mean is that he very clearly had a crush on Blitzo as a kid, which colored what he thought romantic relationships might be like.
@@beebs4283 ohh sorry I didn’t fully understand what u ment

Such beauty. His voice, the lyrics, the message. Everything is perfect. Most certainly one of the BEST moments in the whole series.
Owlet demons are adorable.. or at least Octavia and Stolas were.

Later on, I especially felt sympathy for her in the 3rd act, like other characters who suffer broken family life (which I'm privileged enough to not have suffered, which probably provokes a sympathetic response as well)
1:08 I'm just now noticing that when he says "and if the 7 rings collapse" that he's mentioning the 7 rings of hell
So hell can get destroyed that's a really good fact to know
No shit Sherlock
this brings me to tears. growing up with shitty parents and seeing how much stolas cares about octavia hits hard. I wish I knew what that was like
I can see Caleb Hyles singing this song
Or Annapatsu
We need to spam his song request posts immediately
Same he would crush it
omg me too actually
I wanna see Jonathan young one tbh
The high notes portrayed by the actor are astounding! Partnered up with the visual effects of the video itself? Oh bloody hell please put this on iTunes or Spotify man, I can’t deal with having to hit repeat every few minutes
You should be able to press the three dots and you can then turn loop video on
@@Slightlybookobsessed they don’t have that on mobile
@@taylorboney1089 you can on my phone
@@taylorboney1089 actually if you go to the setting button next to the captions button and when you click it there is an option for looping the video. There is also a version if the song without the talking at the beginning that is an hour and smt minutes if you are interested.
@@theatrefan04 still don’t see it, but I don’t mind replaying the video.

I love how Astronomically the song's animation is correct. Objects with more mass do pull smaller objects to their roche limit, the limit where, gone pass that, you'll be fucked like Mercury was (looked like Mercury idk)
Also the animation how the sun turns to a red giant, pulls all the planets to it and then goes Supernova is also gold. Love this song!!
