The main reason why the air rifle rounds did not penetrate, they were made from lead. Lead is soft and shatters, the .22 was more than likely a copper jacketed round. While copper is also a fairly soft metal it stays together much better. Try the same shots again but with steel core pellets.
Lead 22lr would also go straight through. So your logic is flawed.
Actually demonseed2332 is exactly right .I have actually 16k gold pellets in the 177 the go about 1400fps out the break barrel rifle he shoots second I think.the round matters compleatly when it comes to compared the two between 22lr and 22.pellet .I also would be curious to see witch pellets he used as some are very flawed compared to others

People underestimate 22lr. They say its too weak..... but a 22lr can kill anything with the right shot placement. Thats why they are included in military pilot survival packs. Light but still lethal. You just have to aim more carefully
"It's good because it's a literal last resort in a FUBAR situation" Not the defense you seem to think it is. Know what else can kill with shot placement? Air rifles. Shit, guess militaries should use them instead, ay?

@acidgod7886racist
With a break-barrel, bring the gun up to the barrel, not the barrel up to the gun, or the pellet can fall out.
You can drill a little spot on the tip of a lead pellet so a BB sits half way in the lead pellet but I Super Glue a metal BB TO THE TIP OF LEAD PELLET AND THAT MAKES IT ," ARMOR PIERCING"... NOW IT WILL GO THROUGH A CAR DOOR... :) TRY IT WITH MATCH HEADS BUT BE CAREFUL, YOU WILL START A FIRE SO DONT DO IT IF YOU LIVE IN A DRY STATE OR CITY....
Your loading those break barrels in a pretty dangerous way. You should hold the barrel with one arm and load with the other. If the trigger gets bumped when it's now it flings the barrel up and people have lost fingers. FYI
