We do the same, although I never thought of heating them up in the sun. Good tip. Yes, rats can chew through them but rarely do. We’ve only lost a couple over the years, and we’ve had some serious rat plagues.
I understand your concern. A lot of people feel that way. If it makes you feel any better, my dad is almost 92 years old and has been using plastics ( a lot ) for the last 60 years or longer. As far as we can tell, he hasn't been affected by it. As far as that goes, I've eaten and drank out of plastic containers for my whole life, cooked food in plastic dishes and boiled liquids for drinks in microwave ovens which should have unleashed all the bad things possible from the plastics. So far, so good. Thanks for the comment! Aways good to consider the downsides of anything.
Good to see you brother! Since the fire we stopped drinking soda. And have gone over to buckets and jars. I thought about using whiskey bottles but most have corks and I am pretty sure that they are not the best for long term storage... 👀 Love ya my friend, Keep breathing
I've always thought about the whiskey bottles, too. And I dunno, the corks might be just fine, especially if waxed into place or even if they fit pretty tight. Appreciate you, my friend.
@@RobPainless they really dry out and deteriorate, breaking off in the neck of the bottle. I am sure that you have experienced a broken cork in a bottle of spirits or wine... I have not tried waxing the top like maker's does. 🤔🤔🤔 food for thought.
Always educational.....no surprise here. Ur a very smart dude, Rob. Much love, homie.

Good to know. Thx, Joe.
I like this method I've use it from time to time.
I use mason jars, the down side is they can break.
Yep. They sure can. I've only ever had one or two that broke, but still.
Rob is ready for a sunburn
Heck yeah!
I use no plastic for anything. No plastic cutting boards, No plastic spoons, No plastic glasses etc... Micro plastics are a real thing to consider.

Hard to believe you found a club soda bottle near that window, ;)
Hard to believe I can find ANYTHING in or near that window.
Good stuff, plastic bottles have a lot of uses.
Ya know, it's pretty amazing how many uses you can find for them.
Good to see you brother!

Thanks Rob Happy New Year !
Thanks! Same to you, my friend.
A million uses for plastic bottles, I saw a video of a guy using them for 3D printing.
Wow. I never would have thought about that!
@RobPainless he runs the bottles through a cutter that makes thin bottle string, then runs it through a 3D printer
@@MosaicHomestead Interesting.
You root your aloe in water? I just shove mine in the dirt, then keep the dirt moist(ish). Will try the water method to see if it's any faster.
👍👍
I like doing it in the water. That way I can check the progress and see if it's making roots or just dying.
I have been using plastic bottles for water storage for years...lol
That's great! Certainly good for that. Do you store anything else in them?
@RobPainless mainly rice, nails, nuts and bolts
🤙🐑🤙
🤠😎👍
