Thanks for giving my family a great review!!! Love my uncle Kenny. My dad was in the original group until 1981 and then my cousin Bo took his place. So proud of our legacy
2 people that I think has angelic voices and it’s Kenny and Ed Sheeran. Kenny’s voice was soooooo anointed and ahead of his time if that makes since (for southern gospel) I just wish he didn’t have to go to heaven so early. I was young when my dad got saved and I remember he wore The Generations album out. I’m 45 now and I still listen to them. Amazing family!
Your family sang at our church , Deliverance Tabernacle in flint Michigan back in the 70s. They were spirit filled. And what a shouting time we had. The spirit was moving. Best gospel group ever.
I grew up with The Hinson's because my family sang Southern Gospel too. Kenny was unbelievably talented. This is my favorite song by them my dad just died recently and we played this song at his funeral. I just sat here and cried watching your video. Thanks for taking a look at it.
The Hinsons are my favorite gospel group of all time! And not only because they do my favorite song ever written, The Lighthouse. Kenny Hinson, the lead singer, had the best voice in music in my opinion. He was taken from us way to early because of cancer.
This is one group i dearly loved growing up. Kenny Hinson was an annointed talent. Great singer, great song writer. I love this song, but my favorite will always be "Lighthouse". It holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in the church, Christian family on both sides. Made a commitment to Christ very early in life, and happens so often, allowed the Devil lead me astray many times. Addictions to Alcohol, drug use, food, Sex, You name it. But it always seems that when i was at my darkest hour there was The Lighthouse! He was shining that beacon to lead me back where i was safe. Id love to say it was Me that through off the yolk of addiction, but we both know the truth! As the song says, "I Thank God For The Lighthouse"! Id so much love to see yall react to that one.
Early 80's was a great time to be a Southern Gospel artist. And the Hinsons were at the top of the heap. That's how I got into the biz. I learned to play guitar, bass and keys for my family's Gospel group. We all worked regular jobs, but would sometimes leave on Friday evening, play 3-4 services throughput the weekend and come home around midnight on Sunday. All over north Georgia, northeastern Alabama, southern Tennessee around Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain and Soddy Daisy areas, even a couple of trips to the Augusta Georgia/North Augusta South Carolina area. Went from that to playing full-time in country and rock bands before I turned 18. Many drinks, tokes and snorts later, including drinking myself into the hospital 5 times, I had to quit. Stayed quiet for 14 years. Started working tech(sound/lights) because I needed the money. Stayed clean close to 2 years, being Mr Professional engineer. One of the bands I worked with needed a bassist, and in less than a year I was Mr Party again. Said all that to say this, my only regular gig now is 2 services on piano a week, and mentoring our youths Cristian Rock band. Full circle you could say. Peace.
Kenny Hinson is by far one of the very best vocalists there has ever been. I can hear this man sing all day long. This song gives me chills every time I hear it. You picked a great song and a great group to listen to...
I was raised predominantly southern and country gospel, country and Bluegrass vocalist & musician. I sang and toured with BO HInson for two years and sang backup for Ronnie McDowell for two years as well. While this music (more than likely) is not in your wheelhouse, I admire your openness to even listen to it and give your opinion of it. Thank you for taking the time, I really enjoyed your expressions, your smiles and honesty, in your words. Love you guys, love your channe,l keep up the good work, it's really good stuff !
Kenny, the lead singer, was approached many times by several country music labels asking him to go solo and do country music. He always turned them down. The message was more important than the money.
Hands down Kenny Hinson has the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard …ever. Ed Sheeran is close but Kenny’s voice is anointed for sure. I grew up on the Hinsons and that video took me back. Thank u
I grew up on Southern Gospel. Dad was a huge fan and was in several bands. One once played with the Hinsons here in Houston. This is my childhood and teenage years.
I absolutely love the Hinsons! I grew up listening to them! I’m friends with the son of the guy who sings this song. I’ll share this link with him on Facebook!
Kenny Hinson is and always will be my favorite! Love that old school country voice. I love that song so much that i bought a phone case of it!😂 You can call me anything but when He calls me, You’re gonna call me gone!
Wow! I did a double take when I saw this reaction. No one does southern gospel. When I first got saved this music was about the only Christian music you could find on the radio. Love these older SG groups. Thanks for doing music most reactors wouldn’t touch. Loved it.
This reminds me of my childhood. Once a year in Waycross Ga there was an all night sing. We'd get there before dark and we would hear some of the best gospel singers in the country. The Hinsons, The Happy Goodman family, Gold City quartet and many many more. You could check out the Happy Goodman family, Vestal Goodman had a voice that was phenomenal. Awesome review.❤️
Oh Yeah The Hinsons Amen! Plenty of hits from this legendary Southern Gospel Family. Check out the Gaither Vocal Band, The Cathedrals, Kingsmen, Jesse Dixon, Russ Taff, David Phelps has an amazing voice as well, along with Sandi Patti. The Gaithers have videos, with Gospel Singers, and it's an amazing experience Praise God. ❤️🙏
I grew up listening and singing along with Kenny and the gang. I still sing and play this song and many others on my guitar. There are so many of their songs that are top shelf. Kenny died of cancer in the 90s and it broke my heart. He was in his early 40s. I want to give a shout out to Ronnie Hinson jis brother for being such a fantastic song writer. The light house being their most well known. Their is no other group like this one. Did i mention they are my favorite.😂
Wow I cannot believe yuns done the hinsons!!!Hinson!!!! That's awesome Ann they are family...3 brothers and their sister!!!! And they wrote most of their songs....try cece Winans goodness of God and lauren Daigle believe for Kenny Hinson is the leadsinger
Kenny Hinson was my favorite singer from out of the group and from everybody's in the Southern Gospel industry. Sadly he passed away in 1995 from cancer, he was 42 years old. Kenny Hinson has that Merle Haggard's style when he sang, you could really hear him having that Merle Haggard style in the older albums by The Hinsons from 1970 - 1980 until he was putting his own kinda style of his own from 1980 - 1993 but still leaving some of the Merle Haggard's style in there along with his. He once said he listened to Merle Haggard and George Jones songs to pattern after. He had met George Jones and became friends with him and had the opportunity of talking to George about Jesus, he planted that seed in his heart and did you know it grew from that moment and when George Jones passed away in 2013, he did gave his heart and his life over to God a few years before his passing. Now I can imagine hearing George Jones and Kenny Hinson singing together in Heaven. And I believe Merle Haggard made things right between him and God too before he passed in 2016. The Hinsons: Ronny Hinson Yvonne Hinson Kenny Hinson Larry Hinson Ronny Hinson Kenny Hinson Larry Hinson Chris Freeman Ronny Hinson Yvonne Hinson Kenny Hinson Eric Hinson Ronny Hinson Yvonne Hinson Kenny Hinson Bo Hinson
They are all siblings, their brother, Ronnie is one of the greatest southern gospel songwriters that has ever lived. Unfortunately, Kenny, passed in 1995; he had the most amazing voice.
After many conversations and phone calls with his family, Larry approached their record producer at Calvary Music Group and suggested a reunion project involving the original members. The original group reunited for the thirteen-city "One More Hallelujah" tour. The album "One More Hallelujah" featured the songs "Joy Comes In The Morning”, “I'll Never Be Over The Hill” and “I've Been To Heaven”. During the tour, lead singer Kenny Hinson was diagnosed with kidney cancer. After a long battle, he died on July 27, 1995, at the age of 41, leaving his wife and two children Amanda, age 16, and Weston, age 12. After Kenny's passing, Ronny, the eldest of the brothers in the group, continued to perform, write, as well as produce. He is a renowned songwriter, having written over 10 #1 songs on the southern gospel charts, and over 100 songs that charted in the top 10.
Kenny Hinson arguably the greatest male gospel singer of all time passed away 1995 after a long battle with cancer Whether it be Ronnie Kenny Larry or Yvonne Kenny Eric Ronnie Yvonne or Bo Larry Ronnie Yvonne they was known for their Distinctive sound known as Hinson Gospel Kenny was the Lead Singer
This man's vocal & talent was considered commensurate to or surpassing that of the great Merle Haggard. And he chose gospel rather than the glitter & darkness of the Nashville music industry. I have sung one or two of the Hinson songs as a soloist in church back in the 80s, and these songs (especially this album, all the songs on it) helped bring me back to the Lord at that time, along with those of my own singer songwriter brother and a few others. Thank y'all for reacting to this!
Asia & BJ, you might want to check some Bluegrass Country as well if you're interested, My r recommendation would be The Franz Family. A couple songs I'd suggest are, "God's UnChanging Hand" and "Somewhere In Glory". This is a family that were active until about 12 years ago when their mother died of cancer. They were some excellent musicians! In fact the youngest son, Emmett, who plays the dobro now is a part of another group called The Petersens. He _is_ hands down one of the hottest pickers of the newer generations of dobro players. The family gained attention when brothers and sisters were filmed doing an instrumental called "Unorthodxology" which featured Emmitt's dobro picking which quite honestly is pretty darn amazing. (It is also on UA-cam). Finally, I'll mention that their mother sang lead on a strong heartfelt and haunting bluesy, gospel number called "Getting Ready To Go". I'm not sure if it was recorded before or after she was diagnosed, but she did an incredible job performing it.
The hinsons were awesome, Kenny the lead singer passed away in 1995, this version was Kenny, Ronnie, bo, and Yvonne, the elder 3 were siblings, before nephew bo was eric Hinson. Bo is Ronnie's son. I seen them live many years ago, and they were amazingly anointed by God. The original 4 consisted of the 3 plus brother Larry who passed away a couple years ago. I love their music, no one was like them.
You folks talking about Kenny's great voice, would not be surprised to know that his nickname amongst his peers and southern gospel music fans was" the singer
The lead singer, who has been mentioned over and over in the comments, a guy by the name of Kenny Hinson is considered one of the greatest vocalists in the history of Christian music ever.
Awesome reaction! By any chance could y'all react to Depression by Dax He just released it like 3 days ago. And I did love y'alls reaction to Dear God by Dax as well.
Kenny Hinson singing The Lighthouse and Look To Him are two of my favorite recordings of all time.
The light house is number 1 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
