The 6300, launched in 1987, had Dolby HX Pro and Dyneq technologies working synergistically. Together, the two technologies combatted the treble saturation common in cassette tapes and produced the flattest frequency response of any cassette deck on the market.

So many very intelligent and creative folks on the internet today building some outlandish tech stuff. Some show us rebuilds of the best cassette decks of the eighties. Still we haven't seen a "tech wizard" build a new cassette deck. What with all the advances in CAD and 3D fabrication tools it would seem , with some effort, doable? This deck would be a good one to "re-create" reverse engineering the electronics and building a new mechanical transport. New, at least to me, could include NOS heads eliminating that hurdle. Yet no internet electronics maven has undertook this task to the best of my knowledge. I would be gobsmacked to see someone take up this challenge and do it well on a hi-fi level.

I think he made a lapsus because it's a three head, not a two head deck.

I was more a fan of Denon's cassette tape recorders in the 1990s. They radiated quality and were well built with good sound as a result.

NAD made great cassette decks. Many of us wish that at least ONE manufacturer would make a good cassette deck today using a new (or raised from the dead) cassette mechanism and heads that would be at least as good as "average" cassette decks were in say 1998. The one mechanism available to manufacturers today, a very cheap one with terrible specs, just doesn't cut it despite efforts of Tascam and Teac to try doing something with it. The frequency response of that thing is awful. I know I'd buy a new quality machine if it were offered. Might even buy TWO.

He talks of one thing and shows a different one, his mouth and the inter-edits talk of the 6300, but in the full shot the actual machine and the reference to two heads are about the 6340.

The ad is a bit misleading. I have a 6325 and the one he has his hands on is a 6325 (look closely). The one in the other shot is the 6300, which has the 3-heads. What's going on here?

Cool! At last a decent deck again! When it is going to be available? Is the price already known?

The 6300 was part of the Monitor Series. It was released in early 1989. If you find one today the belts will have perished and need replacing. The heads may also be worn out.
I have the 5300 Compact Disc player. Possibly the most unreliable CD player I've ever owned. It started becoming unreliable about 6 months after purchase in 1989, and it was always hit or miss as to whether it would load and read the TOC of any disc. It got so bad that I ended up relying on pre-recorded cassettes! It used a Sanyo CD loader mechanism, and no amount of adjustment seemed to make it work reliably.

It‘s a 3 header, and mine has no peak hold >0dB, but the used IC (LB1412) is able to… Interesting, something to do some investigation…. There is a cap missing in 1 channel and a resistor missing in the other in my deck…

Can’t this guy get anything right? The 6300 is a 3 head deck.
What he does get right though is that it competes with the best of the best.

My HK deck failed and I took my NAD 6240 off the shelf. Two years ago I installed new belts and pinch roller and calibrated the deck with service manual AC voltmeter and freq. counter. I call this deck old reliable, no microprocessors and logic controls it just works. Sounds just as good as the HK that I paid a grand for !

I have a 6240 also. Sometimes the door jams when I eject and I have to take the cover off and push down the plastic latch to release it. I’m sure it’s just an adjustment but I have to figure it out. It sounds good though.

@@professorvoluck9311 Had the same problem on my 6240. Take off top cover on the right of the cassette mechanism you will see a flat plastic piece that moves up and down to open the door. It gets loose from wear and tear. I placed a small cable tie around it and the key is to make it loose enough to hold flat without binding. This has worked for me for over 5 years now.

Thanks. I will give it a try. You are talking about the white piece that you push down to release the door? Zip tie to another part?

I’ll look at the service manual. I’m not sure where to attach the cable tie. Thanks.
