It’s a winner, the briny apricot on the nose with a subtle coffee note!! It does not give the game away… that vegetal nutty taste gives way to Campbeltown brinyness with your dried fruits steamrolling!! A winner
Just picked this up and the ardnamurchan CS in the MoM sale... I haven't tried glen scotia yet, but it sounds right up my street, i like the funk in my whisky! £69 with tye 20% off sounds a bargain
The price jump on this release has turned me off, sadly... it sounds delicious, and I'm sure I'd find it tasty, I just can't do it.. over €110 here, whereas all previous seasonal releases were around €80-85. Cheers Alan!
Just grabbed a 20 year Glen Scotia single cask red wine for $220 AUD and its making me regret not buying more given the way pricing is going for Glen Scotia. Great review! Do you prefer the 2022 Amontillado compared to this?
If you have been buying the seasonal releases from Glen Scotia The price has gone up in line either everything else fella...if you spent the 90 quid I don't think you'd be disappointed fella
I could drink this one without water Alan. Do you agree? I notice Glen Scotia smoke coming through and that signature character, a lot of toffee sweetness and nutty flavours. This one requires experience to understand! Alan is it worth the price in your opinion?
I bought 2 of each fella...not really got into the Glenallachie yet...sitting sipping it now fella....not sure these are changing that much...beginning to feel pretty much the same ...love to see them change it up a we bit...like the bunna 12 cs...what do you think?
@@thewhiskyfriend I haven’t tried the Bunna 12 The first one got mixed reviews so I avoided it at the price and then the second got brilliant reviews. So not sure about the 3rd. Price was a sticking point initially
Interesting one apparently, this, Alan, but, alas, for some reason I still can get & admit, NOT available in France, because not ALLOWED to be ! In fact, when I asked the distillery's PR team on social media, they answered that this packaging/image of the mermaid does not comply to our advertising rules (WTF ? she's even not naked), so will not be distributed here. So, pretty p.... off we won't get it here....Cheers !
Yeah we'll see if I can taste it first@@thewhiskyfriend and then maybe through continental market...Well, times are not easy for me (& for many other people, I know) but I'm trying to focus on the positive when I can....pretty busy lately also by the number of whisky & other spirits show here hence this upcoming week end Whisky Live Paris (i'll do a video in English about it, and maybe another one in French, we'll see) .
its fantastic Richard, just the way pricing is going...that little off note is typically Glen Scotia for me fella... it tastes awesome...the whisky not the sick...lol
Nice one Alan but yeah a bit overpriced compared to their Campbelltown festival releases. Nevertheless Glen Scotia always makes me happy these days so yeah let's give this one a shot!
I got me a sample and it's absolutely delicious Allan! 92 pts. is precisely right!

Interesting, looks like they are mimicking the Diageo special releases imagery.
Nice, Reckon the corks getting popped on Saturday evening
Let me know what you think Al...

Alan thanks for the review will be getting this in the next few weeks
did you try the sample fella
Will be trying it tonight mate
Thanks for reviewing, Alan.
Interesting dram. Curious to try it myself, though not a real fan of sherried whiskies.

Dont think this one is up your street Frank....that little off Glen Scotia note appears with water fella.....lol
@@thewhiskyfriend and maybe that's not a bad thing. Wallet hurts somewhat (at least for the rest of the year) 🙄

I’m sure it’s lovely stuff, maybe for Christmas!
Nice review Alan of what seems like a fine complex cask strength 12 yo. A little dear for me but I appreciate your thoughts. Ciao 👋 S.
cheers Sandro....
I have to look for the "baby scent".😂 My signature note is a chalky mineral sort of briny flavor in good GS. The funkier the better.
I always get it in Glen Scotia...

I'd love to see it around £70...but it's just the way whisky is right now...we are having to pay too much...
90 quid, they're having a laugh!!!
Sounds a bit fishy to me.
@sambrewster8556 it's a bit coastal salty maritime Sam but lots of sweet floral and nutty too...its lovely fella...
Would probably put the premium down to the less common sherry cask finish. But yea it's getting up there.
No mercy on the wallet
It’s exceptional though and very interesting
Hi Alan
Bought this and the GlenAllachie 10 in the same week.
Love them both. Not sure which to buy a back up of first 😅

So if I had £100
Do I buy the Glen Scotia mermaid
Bunna 12 CS
Or GlenAllachie 10
😅

90 sheets for a 12 year old that has a baby sick note? Her indoors would string me up by my knackers if i spent that much on a whisky!
