      Actually? As long as you split up GTNH (the, objectively, most complete GT modpack excluding nomifactory) into multiple parts, maybe one chapter per vid? Might have to be less. Regardless, as long as you're willing to spend a bit of time learning how electricity works, and have some time on your hands, (remember to use all the tips you can get, too!) it ends up being a lot nicer. Oh, and always batch craft. The sizes you've made it compact claustrophobia are TINY. Usually you want a good stack of ingot/whatever material as buffer ABSOLUTE minimum between expansions.@@Hobble.

      Welll, theres nuclearcraft but it starts getting deeply involved only after you start being able to make a refined storage system?
      Given how much hobble struggled in the early sectiom (such as wasting time trying to get aluminum before evem having a second compact machine) im inclined to agree with the idea he shouldn't try gregtech heavy packs XD
      This pack has microcrafting, yes, but mercifully MOST of it can be ignored or bypassed with just a lil cleverness. Grehtech new horizons (popular greg pack), though, while there are bypasses and alternate routes for many
      Processes, there is no escaping the need for convoluted crafting at every half step.

      @@SavgePhantom a lot of the early game stuff can and should be fully automated passively.
      1. Lava production. Once you have somewhat ok bone meal production, use the bone meal to make ceramic clay to then make crucibles, fueled with a thorium 230 block which is the next stage of decay from the decay generator.
      2. Automated pickaxe clickers. Use a cloche for the sticks aswell as a a thermal machine that makes cobble (igneous something, forget the exact name) to fully automate pickaxes for the mining.
      3. Automate the creation of the important miniaturization recipes with auto clickers (ender pearls and normal compact machines) by pointing the copy paste gadget where the clicker will be facing, using the "anchor" feature they have to then modify the coordinates of the structure, plus a dropper on a timer and then use a redstone logic setup to make a certain amount of each item, using the refined storage sensors.
      3. Automate fluxed phyto gro, to switch to phytogenic insulater for growing trees once you get the first bit of glowstone.
      4. Once you get lapis, you can use an insightful condenser, clicking bottles of enchanting nearby, to multiply experience for use in repairing high end pickaxes like desh and diamond, never having to make another pair of them.
      There are only some tips, but they help massively.

    • @emanuelmaka9635
      @emanuelmaka9635 5 місяців тому

      @@SavgePhantom There are multiple QOL things that are advise to be done as early as possible, mainly the pickaxe clicker need to be fully passived with their own resources (wood for the handles, cobblestone and iron). As well as setting up an infinite water producer, using the aqueous accumulator. Cobble is made in the igneous extruder
      Setting up a large scale lava factory for obsidian production as its needed for ender pearls by using the ex nihilio crucible, heated by a thorium 230 block, whcih can be obtained from the decay experience by the decay generator (second decay)
      Fully passiving the creation of ender pearl, compact machine walls as well as normal compact machines, using refined storage and redstone logistics. This can be done via computer craft (hard) or via copy paste gadgets and clickers, by using the anchor function of the gadgets after pointing where the clicker is supposed to, and then modifying the coordinates, so it goes where its supposed to go.
      Fully passiving the production of fluxed phyto-gro, for use in the phytogenic insulator with the tree growth module, for passively making logs, to then make charcoal, then graphite, then coal and then coal coke in the redstone furnace with the upgrade. You can farm the rich slag needed for it by looping 2 hardened glass of any kind and either platinum or iridium, since the are functionally useless.
      And lastly, setting up an XP farm with insightful condensers as soon as you have access to lapis (for the making of steel pickaxe use treated wood as its way more durable), by feeding the lapis into an insightful condenser, which will collect XP which can be gotten via bottles of enchanting. Needs a bit of XP to jumpstart the system, but it is fully passive as well. Once set up, use the XP in energetic infusers, so that alongside an upgrade you get for it (flux reconstructor i think is the augment) you can use said XP to repair desh pickaxes and diamond ones, so you can save up on needlessly using desh and diamonds.
      These are only some of the things that jump to mind that hobble didnt do, and there are plenty others aswell.

    Compact Claustrophobia was one of my favorite modpacks. It's completely focused on automation, with a clear sense of progression, with some quirky humor thrown in. It helped that I hadn't experienced things like nuclearcraft before, so I ended up getting introduced to a whole world of technical minecraft modpacks.
    My solution to Compact Claustrophobia's AFK problem was to just completely overbuild every piece of automation I made. This isn't Nomifactory. You're actually rewarded for taking time to set up huge automation, since the requirements for each progression tier are massively larger than the previous tier, and basically everything you take time to automate gives you a big reward because it's used in bulk in later recipes. Some other modpacks like Nomifactory end up constantly introducing new resources, so there's no point in building big automation, since you don't really need a huge volume of early resources. I do like Compact Claustrophobia for that reason. It rewards going big. Which is ironic, considering the space constraints. Really, the reward for building big automation just reinforces the central gameplay loop of unlocking bigger and bigger spaces to build bigger and bigger automation.
    Automating every single part of each process, while doing it at scale, was interesting and fun. I ended up going the nucleracraft HOP route, since you can't automate insertion of the graphite rods for the arc funace, and I got tired of manually replacing them and realizing my factory hadn't been producing HOP for a long time. I ended up with far fewer rooms in my final playthrough, but with a whole lot more automation stuffed inside. Two stacked fusion reactors, at least 3 medium and large nuclear reactors, around a hundred nuclearcraft machines just producing coal for making HOP ingots, and around 50 autoclickers powered at a pretty high level, with automated pickax crafting. I went big, which removed most of the boring waiting time, while being far more of a fun problem to solve.
    Also, I bothered to get computercraft working, so I had multiple robots for automated construction of ender pearls and compact walls, which massively reduces the tediousness of the late game. I can't imagine crafting all those ender pearls by hand.
    I'd recommend Nomifactory. It cuts down on the worst parts of Gregtech tedium. Yes, the early game has a ton of microcrafting, but the actual item quantities you need are relatively small, so most of the challenge is in figuring out the production chains. Once you've got a single fully automated production chain for each item, that's probably enough of that item for the entire rest of the game, which seems to be your preferred play style. Set up automation once, then never touch it again.

    • @Hobble.
      @Hobble.  5 місяців тому +5

      That sounds like a brilliant playthrough, I hadn't considered anything but the ARC for HOP, mostly because I was min-maxing it to finish the modpack. But you are right, It did mean a lot more AFK for me.
      With the robots, I figured that in the time it took me to learn and build it, I could have just brute forced it by standing in the corner, I don't think this is the pack for me to learn the mod in. It did mean I got to watch some movies while working though, so that was cool. :)

    • @uigrad
      @uigrad 5 днів тому

      @@Hobble. I found that this task was exactly the kind of thing that CC was built for. You really only need to learn the basic move instructions, the pick up and place instructions, and a wait, and you can make a full program to automate these crafts.
      I grumbled a bit when I realized that programming was necessary for this, but looking back at the modpack, the programming was my favorite part, which is saying a lot because I really liked the rest of the pack also!
      I'm pretty sure that there's also a way to automate the copy paste gadget, because I'm pretty sure I talked to someone who did it, or maybe I saw it in a different playthrough.

    Just for future, if you will meet with NC once more: you can easily make more than 100k rf/tick from fusion reactor - just don’t “over”cool it, you need have cooling ratio about of -10 H/t (in ideal world it should be a 0 H/t but i always careful with it). I just lined it with coolers and looked at the interface to check H/t ratio, and if it need - remove some. You can use any side of the coil ring to cool it. If you cool it too much, it will greatly reduce its energy production like a quadratically. Sorry for mistakes, it’s my first big comment in English!

    40:55 "I have a complaint" so do I 1. move the thing up by one 2. you have a auto clicker that can use items 3. The paste tool can take stuff from chests 4. you have redstone logic gates for clocks to use 5. it doesn't care what to blocks are below the orange field. love the video though

    I have played through this mod several times and the trick is: automation.
    you automate as soon as you can automate something, then you don't have to wait as long.
    also you can clone poop, so you don't have to wait so long lol (with biomass from grinding down cacti or something like that)
    also while you automate your new things, your old things still collect resources ;) that's how you never have to stand around idling
    this modpack is actually quite well balanced once you get behind this fact lol!

    My friend and I beat this pack back in April. I was the one responsible for designing all the machines. I just wish I had done more research into EnderIO for those item transporters... thermal item-/fluid-/etc.-ducts were so... so slow. Plus we had to manually craft everything and had to hop from box to box to access some items.

    I have recommendation for a modpack I really enjoy, it's called "The Winter Rescue" and it's inspired by Frostpunk. It's really well made, but it does focus more on the survival aspects than automation, in fact there isn't any sort of automation until the mid to late game. Though I think it has good game progression and is made by a team that's really passionate about the modpack.

  • @nortalian549

    Actually, the tiny machine “power cells” with the thermoelectric generators can be optimized to need only 4 uranium blocks and 4 water. Put the water and uranium in the corners so that the three “neighbor” corners are the opposite temperature item, and the 12 generators along the edges. The final part is a bit trickier, you basically have to intentionally set your entrance point at one of the sides before you place down a generator, then place a fluxduct where your head will spawn in. Because fluxducts are not full blocks, you don’t suffocate and it allows you to hook the rest of the available space with fluxducts and a tunnel. (Tunnel needs to be placed and calibrated beforehand)

    For those who want to run this pack, I offer this tip: Skip automating oak trees. In the next room up, you can grow full size dark oak trees, and that spaxelhoe works just as well used manually as it does in the clickers. The average dark oak has around 8 times as many logs as the small oaks, making it many times faster to farm, even if it does require a bit of manual work. If you need saplings, toss a dark oak bonsai into water and then use the bonsai cutters on it. This'll give you three more bonsai saplings. Lather rinse repeat for a functionally infinite supply.

    A significant amount of the repetition could have been reduced by automating more early on. Especially after getting the building tool. At that point you could just blueprint a production cube, make a recipe for it and mass produce it. As for the miniaturization, I'm pretty sure you can automate that without a turtle. Even if it is with an autoclicker and the building tool. Though I have to admit that I never got that far when playing the pack. I quit playing once I reached the point where I was able to grow trees.
