This is the closest anyone can get to riding a forgotten Disney attraction. This ride before the updates was a very near replica of an old Disney attraction called Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland. It eventually was reworked and became what is now Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
I drove this train from summer ‘72 to summer ‘76. Great job for a college student, great folks to work for. Back then we gave the entire tour over the loudspeaker which made it fun to get into character and make it special for the riders.
Wow, I had no idea they gave this ride an updated refresh!! So awesome. I always loved this ride, and for somebody that never was able to ride Disneyland's old Rainbow Caverns Mine Train, it is a treat to experience this. This and the Timber Mtn Log Ride are both classics. Can't wait to ride this.
I like your comment. I loved that 'Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland' ride at Disneyland as a kid. It was my favorite. But the day my family went and it was 'closed', I sadly realized that "nothing at Disneyland is permanent". [:-(] Luckily Knott''s still has THIS ride which is just about as cool in a similar way. Strangely, Disneyland closed their MTTNWL ride the same year the first Star Wars movie came out! Weird considering the 'Galaxy's Edge' is right next to where that ride was.
Right in the childhood. I can even remember the musty smell it had. Too bad they took out the faster ending... I remember you would kinda rocket out towards the end.
This seems disney level. It certainly outdid universal. Knotts is a unique park unlike six flags it actually delivers on giving you disney-like theming and intense thrills together. Even a peek at the station for ghost rider will tell you.
TheShining Katana Yes WWOHP was very well done, Though most people are more used to it not being there. Unfortunately last time I was on Jurassic Park I was very disappointed, barley any of the animatronics worked, the T-Rex at the end was shut off so It just looked like a bent over statue, and all the spitting dilophosaurs stopped working before our boat got to them.
3:20 That's were the ride stopped working last time I went. We stayed there for 20 minutes until the train moved slightly more forward to the cave part and we exited. Eceryone had to duck down while leaving because it was really narrow.
Thanks sssooooooo much for making this video! I remember going on this in the late 1970s & thinking "Disneyland RUINED their 'Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland -- but at least Knott's is keeping theirs". It's so cool to see this & other YT videos of this ride. I don't get out & about like I used to , so I really appreciate this! [:-)]
unlike some people, i think that the updated version of this ride is WAY better than the original version because the original may have been a classic, but the animatronics in the original were extremely dated by today's standards ( especially compared to the animatronics at disney world and universal) and these updated animatronics actually look on par with disney's animatronics. not to mention the animatronics in the original looked really scary.
They're not going to do much with it since they don't want to mess with any of the new stuff. From what I've heard, they're just going to change the lighting.
One of the best rides to get on after u get dizzy on silver bullet or montezoomas revenge (I got mad dizzy on montezooma because it was my first looping coaster) It’s a nice and relaxing scenic ride 10/10 Every time I got to knott’s that’s my go to ride.
I just wish that Knotts was more like Disneyland and they kept all of their classic rides (dinosaurs, parachute, soapbox rollercoaster etc.) and still added newer rides around those rides. I like that blend of the old classic rides and new more cutting edge rides. If I won the lottery I would put the classic rides back in.
They should do some updated attractions there. More scary attractions/events for Halloween time or something kinda like this without disturbing too much of the historical aspects.
Awesome job on the update! Oddly, after watching a few of the old ride-thrus and the lights on "her's what we want to do" ride-thru vid, I was really excited to see the upgrades in the boiling pot room and the the finale. Very impressive work all round! A bit sorry for the engineer loosing his speaking roll , but most of the time he was hard to understand anyways.
I don't think CP really has it in them to match this sort of long, quality themed dark ride, or to maintain it. It's a different crowd that visits CP. I vote CF keeps Knotts as the "dark ride theme park" of the chain and CP as the thrill park
when I went on this, I could barely breathe, we were in such a closed area and I was extremely scared, so if you're not good with small spaces I do NOT recommend this ride.
All the points to the boss that gave the little girl his cowboy hat at the end!

THAT was my favorite ride at Disneyland as a kid. But they got rid of it around the same time 'Star Wars' came out. I'm glad Knott's still has theirs.
honestly, as much of a Disney fan as I am, this seems better
something about mines, just so spooky and attractive, looks like a good ride

THE GREEN HELIUM Definitely the part I miss the most.
Love the smell and the quick escape exit it use to have.
show me a video of it plz
The guy with the tnt, how dare them take out my fav part
why is it gone i havent done the right but felt like thats exactly what i felt was missing at the end?
I was there on the 2nd train in on press day. I grew up with this attraction and the reinvention is pretty sweet.
Rarely have I seen such a beautiful theme ride. Really impressive! Very well filmed! :-)
Sarcasm? ;)
Maarten Hof No, honest opinion :)
It's a simple concept but has been my favorite gentle ride at Knotts. I love the smell in that ride.
Rode this in 1971 when I was 17 ! Loved it.
Yeah, this ride, when I rode this, I was scared for life
same.
The ride attendant at the end. How sweet :). Did she keep the hat or did she have to return it to him?
Idk but it was pretty random
I think she would of got to keep it
I noticed that too! So sweet!
Kaleb Camacho ya that was random he probably did it because he saw the guy filming and wanted to make a good reputation of the park or himself.
+Zachery “zacsta” Rankin I hope she kept it, That was so cute.
This seems disney level. It certainly outdid universal. Knotts is a unique park unlike six flags it actually delivers on giving you disney-like theming and intense thrills together. Even a peek at the station for ghost rider will tell you.
Janet Vonnik Cough Cough HOGWARTS

Maybe because this is like a Disney attraction that was gotten rid of in the 70’s which was mine train through nature’s wonderland.
TheShining Katana one land compared to Disney theming ALL their lands and parks to the utmost degree.😂
@@janetplanet4595 2021 now...
Garner Holt did a good job with this ride. This is a good immersive ride at Knott's Berry Farm!
Loved the new ending with the new smoke effects it kinda makes it feel real haha xD
Damm I use to enjoy riding this attraction those were my years spending moments at this amazing adventure park.
The organ when the driver "lights up" the cavern and you see the stalagtites gives me chills. Nice update.
Now lets see if Knott's Brings back Kingdom of the Dinosaurs!!!
Nope
TRON8882 unfortunately not :(
I wish
No :(
Rip kingdom of the dinosaurs
this has always been my favorite ride at knotts
3:20 That's were the ride stopped working last time I went. We stayed there for 20 minutes until the train moved slightly more forward to the cave part and we exited. Eceryone had to duck down while leaving because it was really narrow.
Man I love this ride!!
4:59 is my favorite part of the ride.
I like all the colors and shapes 🌈🤗
That looks incredible! Omg this is on the bucket list, never even knew it existed.
Thanks sssooooooo much for making this video! I remember going on this

That was so fun riding when I was 10 years old.
ix_june lol it's fun and im 9

Outstanding! Well done Knott's Berry Farm!
1:21 SHE IS DRINKING!!!
TriDexterousTiger always has to be someone who thinks the rules are for everyone but them
This is one of my favorite rides I love the dark and the shadows I enjoyed it
Last time I went on this, it broke down for about 10 minutes in the Crystal cave part
That's happened to me too. Just going up the hill
Love this kind of dark rides
FINALLY they opened this ride
It's like Mystery Mine, except different in every way but the mine theme.
What a jolly ride.
I can't wait to see how this ride will translate when they give it its annual makeover for Halloween Haunt.
They're not going to do much with it since they don't want to mess with any of the new stuff. From what I've heard, they're just going to change the lighting.
It remained me about Pirates Of The Caribbean because it's dark like Pirates and the same company made the animatronics
Wow. I thought this was going to be small updates that I would not notice. They made the ride a lot better than it already was.

wow, some real effort has gone into making that ride! looks fab, so much going on.
What a great ride.
LOOKS SO FUN!!
I love the music playing at 4:57
I remeber when it stopped there i thought an animotronic was gonna chase us after the eriee music
reminds me of a casino lol. great ride though. i dont remember it being this dark
I remember riding it when I was little. great video
thanks for the ride!
My mom and I went on this ride ❤️🤗
well done knotts! so much better than before
This kinda reminds of disney's mine train through nature's wonderland
Great ride
The one TPR video where I don't have to suffer through the guy's annoying voice. Good job, you guys actually did something right for once.
😣👎bully

Boy oh boy I this a great ride
I love the loops part!!! hahaha
I work there and I was there that day LOL. Can't believe you guys were there :D
I love this ride! I’ve only been on it once definitely need to re-ride
I remember that day coming back from knotts was fun
Yeehaw bruther. I rode this thing for a school field trip way back in the days. We also went panning for gold. So fun
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO CUZ WE ARE GOING ON THIS RIDE CUZ THIS MONTH WE ARE GOING TO KNOTTS BERRY FARM
Been to the real Calico mines.. XD nothing like this. Just narrow corridors and creepy wax figures.
Marina Dragonflame yea, and weird stone houses on sides of mountains you can walk in
They should do some updated attractions there. More scary attractions/events for Halloween time or something kinda like this without disturbing too much of the historical aspects.
Great animatronics and lighting. I was expecting Big Thunder Mountain Railroad... got the two confused.
What a nice ride attendant
As a kid in the 60's, there was no park admission charge and this mine train cost 35 cents to ride.
I got on this before my mom was saying WOOOOOOOOOOO the whole time it was a fun ride
There are atmospheric rides..and thrill rides... I want to see a ride that has both.. and does both well..
Come back to the uk and go Thorpe park and blackpool pleasure beach please if u can
and alton towers
Yay! Im going with my class at the end of the year! /)^3^(\
My favorite ride
Awesome job on the update!

Any news on the dark dinosaur ride, or is that long-gone forever?
Loved this ride as a kid way back when. Didn't it used to go a bit faster during that last part of the ride with the steam and all?
Yeah
Started out pretty mellow, but then it kind'a got a bit mind-altering psychedelic.
I'm going there this Friday! This was my favorite ride as a kid! Last time I came I was 4 or 3! Now I am 12!
have fun and same I went when I was like 5
Arlene Rivera oh wow! Ha
5 wow
same haha now I am 13 and going July 9
What are some of the new changes? I havent been on that ride in decades. Were the animatronic figures new?
Basically a slower version of thunder mountain at the Disneyland.
I love it the ride
When I first rode this ride. I was scared to hell. I was like 8
It's really cool if was there today and rode it still boring but some great additions
Today Rob is in Germany in the Hansa-Park! :)
omg, what a cool ride! Where is this? I would love to go on this
Knotts Berry Farm
1:40 is that a real-life thing in real mines?!
I want to go here sometime...
Calico was known for silver not gold.
Very well planned - animatronics we're awesome! Better than some at Disney parks. Did Disney make these for Knotts?
The animatronics were made by Garner Holt's company. He has also done work for Disney.
+Forestkaat Prescott Gotta say.. I could never go on this ride, too many animatronics.
omg they look so real
Ikr 😯
Didn't this used to have a part where the train went backwards after a certain part of the ride ?!?!
i used to loved this ride has a kid but i dont go too much at all bc i am disney fan
Pretty sure this was in California near Anaheim cause I went on that on yesterday and looked exactly on everything lol
It's in Buena park, California
1:45 reminds me of the world beneath from dinotopia
knotts giga please thank you
cool
You should check out some of the roller coasters at elitch gardens Colorado. They is pretty Awesome, in my opinion at least
Please come back to England and ride the rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers
Have you went to Utah Lagoon yet?
How long was this closed?
I just went their on vathers day!!
That guy looks like Chumlee from Pawn Stars on the left! 0:26
I really love the very subtle encounter at 1:00
What is that?
yeah I noticed that! it had me thinking the whole video haha
Marshall Bomar he
where is knotts berry farm? im trying to visit most of the parks this summer. :3
Buena Park, California ✖️✖️✖️
Cp needs a dark ride like this C'mon cedar fair!
I don't think CP really has it in them to match this sort of long, quality themed dark ride, or to maintain it. It's a different crowd that visits CP.
I vote CF keeps Knotts as the "dark ride theme park" of the chain and CP as the thrill park
I remeber feeling like i was going to fall during that ride
Evys. Editing
Lol my mom felt the same way
when I went on this, I could barely breathe, we were in such a closed area and I was extremely scared, so if you're not good with small spaces I do NOT recommend this ride.
Are there drops?
No
