Would love to hear a deep-ish dive on Josh's thoughts regarding ceramic coatings like gtechniq and if/how it would change the products we want to use for "Spa Day". A lot of these ceramic makers also have a bike wash to go with it and I wonder if they're just soap or if they're better for the brand's coating and should be subbed for one of the SILCA product steps? Would be an interesting and helpful topic until SILCA gives us a ceramic coating 😊
can you spray this on to jockey wheels and mechs instead of more lubricant or silicone spray? (I’ve always wondered what to use on those areas rather than lube which won’t mix well with a waxed chain! )
If applying to a dirty surface or surface with debris on it, you want to spray the product directly on the surface and wait a few seconds to give the surfactants time to lift the debris off the surface and encapsulate it before wiping, if you spray directly onto a towel or similar and then wipe, the debris on the surface will scratch the paint. If dirt on the surface is severe, then you are best to spray off first to remove the bulk of it. Be sure to protect disc brake components when spraying directly onto the bike.
Do you recommend always using the Ceramic Waterless Wash before applying the Graphene Wax, or can the bike be just washed then apply another coat of the Graphene Wax. What happens if you apply the Graphene Wax over the Ceramic coat? Does it weaken the layering bond? Does it matter if the Ceramic wash gets on a waxed chain?
Step4 is essentially a surfactant based cleaner that leaves an air hardening SiO2 wax residue that dries within 30 seconds or so after being wiped to a thin coating. Neither component will do anything to a waxed chain so no worries if you are using SuperSecret or SecretBlend, but it will damage oil based lubricants as well as many to most traditional dry lubricants, so avoid contact in those instances. As an aside, if you use it on your cogs and chainrings, you will get an incredibly slick ~0.5micron hard Silicone Dioxide surface that both runs faster than normal and reduces wear on the cogs and rings.
Probably not because what makes a Matt bike Matt is that there is a lot of microscopic spaces the layer of paint that breaks up the light and the material that they use is designed to fill in those spaces in order to help create a smooth layer.

No, the surfactant needs a few seconds of wet contact to lift and encapsulate dirt from the painted surfaces, if you just wipe with a dampened cloth, there isn't enough time for the dirt to lift and you risk scratching the paint.

I’ve been using ceramic based car detailing sprays on my bikes for a few years now. If it’s good enough for my car then it’s going to work on my bike too. It now depends wether this product is a similar price to a similar motoring ceramic product? 🤔🙂🙂
Our formulator produces for pretty much every IndyCar and Nascar team as well as custom formulatons for specialty automotive detail houses.. and produces some of the top detailing brands you might have heard of. They also produce coatings for boat racing as well as paint specific coatins for one of the hyper-car brands. As a result, we are on par with pricing of those top brands, but definitely more expensive than the mass market brands. What we found in our work here was that similar to most things, you definitely get what you pay for and in the case of auto part store brands you are just typically getting less active ingredients, or lower grade ingredients, or often times, less environmentally friendly ingredients. In the case of something like our graphene wax or the SiO2 infused waterless wash, our version has 3-5x the amount of active ingredients. In the case of the brake/drivetrain cleaner, that's a really unique formulation that was optimized for bicycle disc brakes to be safe on common bicycle rubber seals, hub seals, brake cable housing, and it also modified to be much higher viscosity than traditional brake cleaners so that it cannot wick it's way into bearings and other key components where it might do damage.

Just to confirm: no need to rinse off any excess debris prior to applying this?

Yes, safe for all finishes including Ti, anodized Ti, and all painted and unpainted carbon, including matte.
