      Good credit might get you the credit card and Diamond status, but not anything in life. The most important things in life have nothing to do with a credit score.

    3:01 Now THERE is the BIG caveat in all of this! The application process with Barclays is a "bit challenging" is a HUGE under statement. I tried to do this myself and they were such a pain in the A$$. It was ridiculous aggravation of red tape and jumping through hoops. You should do a video that's tell everyone about the process you had to go through, describing step by step in order for them to successfully approve you and what all needs to happen in order to get the card, because it was A LOT and they make it extremely difficult. It is NOT easy to get this card from them.

      You’re right. It was more than just a challenge. It was an absolute nightmare. We really wish we had been recording ourselves as we spent hours on the phone with them over several weeks, being bounced back and forth between departments. The Caesars credit card gives you 5000 tier credits after spending $5000 in a calendar year. In my opinion, the best way to utilize it is start using it on January 1st and then switch to another card with better cash back benefits as soon as you've spent $5000.

    • @TheMidlifeRide
      @TheMidlifeRide  Рік тому

      Yes, we did hear that same info from a rep the other day. 5000 tier credits isn’t going to do us any good, though. It’ll just take away spend from another card. We don’t seem to spend enough to get all the tier credits needed for any of the good tier levels, so we certainly can’t afford to split purchases between cards. Do you know if the 5000 tier credits is the cap? If you spend $6000, do you get 6000 tier credits? The rep wasn’t able to answer that question and referred me to another department that wasn’t open at the time I called.

    • @indianapatsfan
      @indianapatsfan Рік тому +1

      @TheMidlifeRide no, it caps at 5000. You still need to earn another 10k for diamond. Beyond those 5000 tier credits, there really isn't much benefit to the card. The only people the card makes sense for are folks that visit Caesars properties a couple times a year and will earn the other 10k Caesars tier credits through gambling and the hotel stay.

      Well, the Caesars credit card has been pretty useless for us. But, if you’re considering it, the rep I spoke with the other day thinks if you spend $5000 annually, you’ll get 5000 tier credits. He couldn’t tell me if you get tier credits for all $ after 5000 or if that’s the cap. He referred me to another department that he says is only open like 4 hours a day. I suspect he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.
      The MGM card has been much more beneficial to us, but we’re unlikely to reach Gold from it. That’s a lot of spend to get 75,000 tier credits. Do you have any secrets/tips? We use it for everything, but still can’t get there.

    Great info. Personally, I just haven't had good experiences at Caesars properties in about 10 years so it really isn't worth it to chase status with them. I really like Paris, but that is about it. I'm fine with paying for a night or two if I want to stay there. I still do get some mid-week offers from them, but they are pretty weak (and I haven't gambled at a Caesars property in over 2 years - so what is up with that?) Anyway, I'll stick to MGM for now. Until they drop the ball and then I'll move to the next rewards program. 😆

      Hey, Blake! If you don’t mind sharing, what was the primary source of your bad experiences with Caeasars (not happy with hotel rooms, restaurants, overall bad customer service, etc.)?We’re okay sticking with Cosmo right now, but MGM has us a little worried, so we’re exploring all options and preparing for the worst.

    • @biba1220

      @@TheMidlifeRide It starts with really bad service. Check-in at all Caesars properties is mostly a nightmare. Long lines and you are pushed into using the kiosks (that are broken half the time). I've had bad luck with getting a really dirty or worn-down room at Caesars, Paris, and Horseshoe. That leads you back to the front desk where there are very few people and a lot of broken kiosks (it's a forever loop!) 😂 It's just not a good way to kick off your trip. Second, like you mention in your video, even when I was gambling at Caesars a lot I barely got any good comp offers. For example, I gamble the same amount at MGM properties and get 4 nights, no fees, a few hundred in free play, and a few hundred in food/beverage (at least a couple times a year). At Caesars, I was lucky to get 3 nights, a hundred dollars free play, with NO food/beverage credit. Plus, if I was asking to stay on a weekend night, sometimes I would only get a % off for that night. The bottom line, I don't feel appreciated when I stay and play at Caesars. I know others could probably offer up similar examples with MGM. It may be a longevity thing. I've been staying at MGM properties since the early 90s so that could figure into it. in the end, they are all out for our $$ so take the best deal you can get. 😁

      @biba1220 Рік тому

      @@TheMidlifeRide They do have mobile check-in, but I usually arrive earlier in the day and like to get into my room. You have to pay an "early check-in fee" through the app. The kiosk has "sometimes" let me check in early without the fee. If you wait in line about 80% of the time they let me check in early (if it is Noon or later). Also, I have had issues with using my phone as a key in some of their properties, so even the couple of times I have checked in with the app I had to go wait in line to get a physical key. I may just have a case of the "Caesars curse" (I rarely win there so I'm going to go with that). 🤣

      Info is so hard to find online, but we certainly hope so! I can’t imagine we would have signed up only to get Caesars Diamond for one year. This statement in the Caesars status match FAQs suggests it can be renewed annually: “Members must re-apply if qualified for a status match starting on 2/1 of every year.”

    I don't even want to give my business to Ceasers anymore quite frankly. I do not know when customers started having to beg and find loop holes to be treated by Ceasers as customers were treated in days gone by. Maybe once they start losing customers they might rethink, but it doesn't seem to be happening very quickly. Many many people are going to MGM. Ceasers comp offers are just about zero from what I am hearing from others. No comps, low comps, no comps. I won't beg to give a company my money and be treated poorly.

      Agreed. We used to play primarily at Caesars, which is why we opted for their credit card. So many comps from them prior to COVID, but we never took advantage of them. Now, we’d like to check out their rooms, but we haven’t received a comp offer in over 3 years. That’s why we switched to MGM. We’re hoping something will change with our new Diamond status, but nothing yet. They seem to have a plan, but it doesn’t seem to include keeping customers like us. Time will tell…

      When business is doing goof you don't lower the prices. Ceasars and vegas in general has been killing it and making record profits. They won't he handing out freebies anytime soon

      It is a business card, but I’m not sure how strict they are about the type or structure of the business.

      I actually went and got a business license first. But when I applied for the actual card, all it asked me for was the name of the business. I applied online for the card, hit submit, and immediately was approved.
      I have really good credit, so I don’t know if that matters. I know some were saying the process seemed to be more involved.
