I think I got beaten by the barrage of troubles and plague and attackers you eventually get further in the game. Some organized strategies keep most common problems of this game at bay. But there is some BS that grinds my gears (like that one farm too far to get employees or that sickness killing the home of your water guy and imploding house dev of your city)
The dynasty you have forged will be remembered by all youtubers through all history! So satisfying to see a 6 year work completed at last. Now that you have come this far you have to beat Cleopatra, man. Go for it!

I never watch three hour gaming videos, but I guess that's the power of nostalgia. Thanks for uploading this, it brings back great memories from when I was little and my Dad, who was an architect and a urban planner, used to teach me how to play city builder games like Pharoah, Caesar, Emperor, etc. He had a great love of urban design and classical culture and he definitely passed it down to me.
I’ve made it to the end! Doing my last level of Pharoah tonight. Only took over 20 years. I remember buying this game after Caesar3. I got a few demo games I loved them so much I bought Caesar3, Lords of Magic, Pharoah, Zeus and Poseidon.

hahaha, I also have been playing this game over 20 years with larger breaks. Have recently started playing again and picked it up at mission 29, Iken. This game is truly amazing, keeping me fascinated again and again over 20 years! My strategy has improved and I am also ok with the military missions now.

TWICE! 🤣🤣🤣 Fun Fact @GamerZakh ,despite the mission being PAINFULLY SLOW, in essence it's a reimagined Giza Necropolis. The mission took you 867 months to complete or 72 years and 3 months. The real Giza Necropolis, by best estimates, took approximately 70-75 years from beginning to end. So you're actually right on time! 😂😂😂 Hopefully they don't mess with the time scales to much on the remake when you get a chance to play it soon. 😉

Just started playing Pharaoh + Cleopatra a few months ago, and I'm at this level now. Feeling intimidated by the mission, so I'm watching your video as well as Sajuuk for any helpful tips. I like the part where you demarcated the land for monuments, that really help in terms of zone planning. Also, as a fellow Malaysian, I love your diction. It is so clear. :)

I remember playing this level around 20 years ago, it's a great game and yes that big pyramid took an eternity to build. My city was a dump compared to this one though lol. Great video, it's been great to see this game again.
Hah, I just completed my first VH playthrough (economical) with this mission yesterday! For some reason I only started with 1125db, and being only able to sell 25 papyrus in the beginning made it a bit tricky, I think my kingdom rating went to the lower 10s once

So grateful for this! This game keeps me sane at home LOL. Anyway, I love all your videos and I love the way you explain things, it's so easy to understand. Thank you once again, you are very, very impressive!!!!! PS: Because the pandemic is still here and I don't know when will this gonna end, I'm now gonna finish this city and start Cleopatra too. Just found your channel Zakh, great content! Fellow Malaysian here. Always a big fan of these city building games. Very interesting build style you have there by the way, I always build residences with a 4x block in a road loop instead of 2x block. Also, I noticed that you had a minor issue with desirability with your Estates. I suggest that you build gardens around the single land plot, when the houses expand it'll actually expand onto the gardens. I learnt this when I noticed that when my Estates degrade from 4x4 to 3x3 or less, it'll leave behind gardens.
The map you dream to play, regardless whether you just started pharaoh or doing n'th replay🙏 Finally you got the scale to unleash your ideas to their full extent. And the majestic monuments that will require sizeable portion of your economy and land to even begin building😮 + scaling down after completion as minor task. I like Rowarty too - it brings other issues while also allowing the creation of huge, intricately planned city - but that hetepsunesret map is such a joy to play - it truly feels like endgame compared to earlier missions. We need culture but there is only that much papyrus reeds available😂

Congratz! It's old news but I just finished watching your playthrough and indeed, it was an epic journey. At times I thought you aimed to do the impossible (especially when you were neglecting the gods, *cough*) but in the end you were victorious. Can't wait to start cathing up on Cleopatra. :) I've beaten the game and the expansion on normal difficulty long time ago and I thought that was insane yet here you are. You've even inspired me on starting my own struggle on Very Hard and I'm thankful to you, oh mighty GamerZakh XXIV. Awesome stuff!

Lots of players like to play with their own "rules." For me, I like to play on very hard and do not ever let myself go in debt. No use of emergency funds. It's tough to do, but possible in this mission. I start at the other papyrus/marsh area. Build just enough to get one papyrus scroll made, sell it, and build from there. Have to juggle around the employment a bit.
Finished this a couple of days ago, but have finally recovered enough to comment that this has been an epic journey from beginning to end. Thank you for the introduction to this game, and for the enjoyment of watching you play. I'm more of a Children of the Nile player, but the complications this game brings make it different and interesting enough to make a fair go of. I just hope it doesn't take me 6 years as well, lol. :D Standout catchphrases from the series: "Oh no! I've forgotten the gods!" "Firehouse. Architect's post." (As I mentioned before.) "Why is this burning? This shouldn't be burning." I watched the first three Cleopatra around the time I began this series, so have a couple to do before I'm all caught up. Looking forward to them soon. Thanks again, Zakh, for the ride. :D

I generally don't like relying on God blessings is why I usually just keep them content and leave them. Only use them when I feel like I really need help.

You don't need the kingdom road connected to everything. You just need to not block anything in completely. Immigrants need to be able to reach every house. If you block a house or part of the city in entirely then it gives you the warning.
Sad to see it end, but hopefully this means that you'll play more Emperor and Zeus now. Though I think I remember you saying that you didn't find the latter very interesting. No point in playing games that you don't enjoy in that case!
You don't need to have libraries and schools actually fed with papyrus, as long as they are staffed they count as working for the coverage. Mortuaries do need to be supplied, because the coverage accounts citizens served by the walker
You should experiment building neighborhoods. If you need the walkers to cover areas, you can experiment building different sizes. A small square neighborhood is easily covered by one firehouse, bazaar. As your experiments grow larger, you’ll notice walkers are no longer capable of making the loop. So that will help you get familiar with how large your neighborhoods can be. You do this for efficiency. Because manpower is required to service a neighborhood, you eventually learn to get the most out of each firehouse/bazaar. And thus learn how to milk each neighborhood for extra workforce. Several items in the game provide positive desirability. Large Statue is one such item, 3x3. If you surround this with gardens, it becomes 5x5. If you include an expansion gap, you end up with 7x7 and that seems to be the ideal loop size for a neighborhood. You can then create a row of four 2x2 homes with a gap between each around it. This is a neighborhood. It will function with one each, fire, food, architect, school, physician, mortuary, dentist (etc). However they like to have 3 gods, 3 foods. So, having a granary and storage yard with 1/4ea Pottery, Beer, Linen, and Luxury Goods will keep each neighborhood adequately supplied eternally. As this matures fully, you’ll get the most excess manpower from it, tax as a benefit. For example one neighborhood should provide 1000 people, or 1500 people depending. The Temple Complex is the most desirable item available and serves as an ideal center for your Palatial neighborhood. It’s too large for one firehouse to maintain. So it’s best to double up everything when supplying something of that size and stage the suppliers to handle 50% of it, perhaps roadblock it if necessary to keep each side adequately supplied. A Festival Square is also high desirability. If you surround this with houses it’s the same as building around a Large Statue, and can be served eternally with one each and provide 1000 people. Having fun is probably most important, so disregard my suggestions and beautify as desired. 👍😊
lol... but it doesnt have too... my strategy, i always put population at the last... when my city has all the requirement met except population, then i save the game (just incase), and put as much houses as possible to meet the population requirement and win the game... it is much more ideal isnt it?
To those who are about to start this mission, you are supposed to have Family savings as extra money for this mission from the last mission. I started this mission with 40000 Debens from the last mission because of the time it took to build monuments.
Well you don't need savings to do it, I like to tackle each mission individually with only the starting money to show it's possible without any savings. Starting with 40K extra Deben would make it too easy for me haha.

Another thing: You don't need papyrus in your schools and libraries for them to count towards culture, same for juggler/music/dance schools. I always put those extra culture dumps disconnected from the rest of the city for that reason

Btw ! 49:40, I just learned that those monuments takes a lot of years to complete :)) I mean, those missions could be painfull for those who wants to complete less than 20 years in-game ( in order to avoid dealing with the aging population ) ! Normally, you have to start the monument once you begin the mission, otherwise, there is no way :)) even on easy
There's a lot of old game sound effects that were shared. The archers from Age of Empires 1 intro are in Lords of the Realm 2. The troop move noise in Caesar 3 is in the original C&C music. I've heard the door opening sound from Morrowind in many games and even TV shows. I think there was like 1 big sound effects pack everyone used before games got foley artists.
@@GamerZakh That's interesting, I thought that only Hollywood and indie devs now do it. In about 30 years of gaming, this is the first time I've recognized a sound effect used in another game. I'm not sure how I've missed the Red Alert one. I must have heard Hell March a couple hundred times by now.
The isolation problem happened to me too. But it was another map, every time the flood came, part of the land was isolated from the kingdom. It didn’t affect anything, just annoying.
I recently "discovered" a trick to make easy money : first, get available workforce for about 10 jewelers or/and weavers (12 workers for each factory) second, pray Ptat and make festivals to him third, hope for his blessing by which he gives raw material to jewelers and weavers (also shipwright but that last one doesn't produce sellable goods). Even if you can't produce gems or flax, you will get 200 gems / 200 linen in each factory, for free. fourth : sell the luxury goods and linen to other cities. When you don't have the raw materials, just disable the factories so you can use the workforce for other sectors.
1:25:10 I just finished this map in Pharaoh New Era, and thought, it was a bug, but I see in OG game it's also land trade, may I ask how? are they Jususes and walk on water? 1:32:24 oh I see they swim to Men-Nefer and walk to our city...? Man this game was really complex. :O
Got some questions , 1. Why do you use so few roads when you make those villages? like u had statues and gardens inside and houses on the roadsides. 2. How does the Roadblock exactly work? 3. Do you keep every building that has connection to each other , beside each other? like papyrus building > school >library? 4.How comes fire and architect buildings so few too? everytime i build a village i have got atleast 2 of each on every road. Please play the new game, and make palatial states for us. The masses demand this. They don't know how to use the big states to improve desirability. This generation is a mess. It took me 2 days to win this mission on Normal difficulty, nd you make it look easy on the highest difficulty. Very well done! Respect for you sir

I suggest that you build gardens around the single land plot, when the houses expand it'll actually expand onto the gardens. I learnt this when I noticed that when my Estates degrade from 4x4 to 3x3 or less, it'll leave behind gardens.

Finally you got the scale to unleash your ideas to their full extent. And the majestic monuments that will require sizeable portion of your economy and land to even begin building😮 + scaling down after completion as minor task.
I like Rowarty too - it brings other issues while also allowing the creation of huge, intricately planned city - but that hetepsunesret map is such a joy to play - it truly feels like endgame compared to earlier missions. We need culture but there is only that much papyrus reeds available😂

Congratz! It's old news but I just finished watching your playthrough and indeed, it was an epic journey. At times I thought you aimed to do the impossible (especially when you were neglecting the gods, *cough*) but in the end you were victorious. Can't wait to start cathing up on Cleopatra. :) I've beaten the game and the expansion on normal difficulty long time ago and I thought that was insane yet here you are. You've even inspired me on starting my own struggle on Very Hard and I'm thankful to you, oh mighty GamerZakh XXIV. Awesome stuff!

Lots of players like to play with their own "rules." For me, I like to play on very hard and do not ever let myself go in debt. No use of emergency funds. It's tough to do, but possible in this mission. I start at the other papyrus/marsh area. Build just enough to get one papyrus scroll made, sell it, and build from there. Have to juggle around the employment a bit.
Finished this a couple of days ago, but have finally recovered enough to comment that this has been an epic journey from beginning to end. Thank you for the introduction to this game, and for the enjoyment of watching you play. I'm more of a Children of the Nile player, but the complications this game brings make it different and interesting enough to make a fair go of. I just hope it doesn't take me 6 years as well, lol. :D

You don't need the kingdom road connected to everything. You just need to not block anything in completely. Immigrants need to be able to reach every house. If you block a house or part of the city in entirely then it gives you the warning.
Sad to see it end, but hopefully this means that you'll play more Emperor and Zeus now. Though I think I remember you saying that you didn't find the latter very interesting. No point in playing games that you don't enjoy in that case!

You don't need to have libraries and schools actually fed with papyrus, as long as they are staffed they count as working for the coverage. Mortuaries do need to be supplied, because the coverage accounts citizens served by the walker
You should experiment building neighborhoods. If you need the walkers to cover areas, you can experiment building different sizes. A small square neighborhood is easily covered by one firehouse, bazaar. As your experiments grow larger, you’ll notice walkers are no longer capable of making the loop. So that will help you get familiar with how large your neighborhoods can be. You do this for efficiency. Because manpower is required to service a neighborhood, you eventually learn to get the most out of each firehouse/bazaar. And thus learn how to milk each neighborhood for extra workforce. Several items in the game provide positive desirability. Large Statue is one such item, 3x3. If you surround this with gardens, it becomes 5x5. If you include an expansion gap, you end up with 7x7 and that seems to be the ideal loop size for a neighborhood. You can then create a row of four 2x2 homes with a gap between each around it. This is a neighborhood. It will function with one each, fire, food, architect, school, physician, mortuary, dentist (etc). However they like to have 3 gods, 3 foods. So, having a granary and storage yard with 1/4ea Pottery, Beer, Linen, and Luxury Goods will keep each neighborhood adequately supplied eternally. As this matures fully, you’ll get the most excess manpower from it, tax as a benefit. For example one neighborhood should provide 1000 people, or 1500 people depending.
The Temple Complex is the most desirable item available and serves as an ideal center for your Palatial neighborhood. It’s too large for one firehouse to maintain. So it’s best to double up everything when supplying something of that size and stage the suppliers to handle 50% of it, perhaps roadblock it if necessary to keep each side adequately supplied.
A Festival Square is also high desirability. If you surround this with houses it’s the same as building around a Large Statue, and can be served eternally with one each and provide 1000 people.
Having fun is probably most important, so disregard my suggestions and beautify as desired. 👍😊

lol... but it doesnt have too... my strategy, i always put population at the last... when my city has all the requirement met except population, then i save the game (just incase), and put as much houses as possible to meet the population requirement and win the game... it is much more ideal isnt it?

I started this mission with 40000 Debens from the last mission because of the time it took to build monuments.
Well you don't need savings to do it, I like to tackle each mission individually with only the starting money to show it's possible without any savings. Starting with 40K extra Deben would make it too easy for me haha.

When I played this mission I ran out of room to build any more buildings, literally no availible space left and my citys population was around 26,000.

Another thing: You don't need papyrus in your schools and libraries for them to count towards culture, same for juggler/music/dance schools. I always put those extra culture dumps disconnected from the rest of the city for that reason

Just came across this game like a 1 1/2 years ago. Since then I`m so into it. Stumbled upon your Videos mid-mission, cause I was so lost. Started to watch your gameplay for each mission I completed, afterwards of course. Learned so much and enjoyed it even more. And for this final mission I watched your video before starting it.....because the last one drove me really crazy. It`s kinda cheating but yeah, don`t care. Looking forward to start with Cleopatra, so I can watch those too :)

Btw ! 49:40, I just learned that those monuments takes a lot of years to complete :)) I mean, those missions could be painfull for those who wants to complete less than 20 years in-game ( in order to avoid dealing with the aging population ) ! Normally, you have to start the monument once you begin the mission, otherwise, there is no way :)) even on easy

There's a lot of old game sound effects that were shared. The archers from Age of Empires 1 intro are in Lords of the Realm 2. The troop move noise in Caesar 3 is in the original C&C music. I've heard the door opening sound from Morrowind in many games and even TV shows. I think there was like 1 big sound effects pack everyone used before games got foley artists.

The isolation problem happened to me too. But it was another map, every time the flood came, part of the land was isolated from the kingdom. It didn’t affect anything, just annoying.

I recently "discovered" a trick to make easy money :
first, get available workforce for about 10 jewelers or/and weavers (12 workers for each factory)
second, pray Ptat and make festivals to him
third, hope for his blessing by which he gives raw material to jewelers and weavers (also shipwright but that last one doesn't produce sellable goods). Even if you can't produce gems or flax, you will get 200 gems / 200 linen in each factory, for free.
fourth : sell the luxury goods and linen to other cities.
When you don't have the raw materials, just disable the factories so you can use the workforce for other sectors.

Got some questions ,
1. Why do you use so few roads when you make those villages? like u had statues and gardens inside and houses on the roadsides.
2. How does the Roadblock exactly work?
3. Do you keep every building that has connection to each other , beside each other? like papyrus building > school >library?
4.How comes fire and architect buildings so few too? everytime i build a village i have got atleast 2 of each on every road.

I wish people would play like you the new pharaoh. This new generation is good for nothing. They are not able to do palatial states like u are. Please play the new game, and make palatial states for us. The masses demand this. They don't know how to use the big states to improve desirability. This generation is a mess. Please help us, you are my only hope of seeing a palatial estate!
