- Hello! I started Jamuary in January 2017, as a movement to gather us boopy music heads, and to motivate people to get used to the idea of showing their music in front of other people. It quickly grew out of proportions. The hashtag Jamuary2021 on Instagram has gathered over 22k posts! The world is practically bubbling with creativity!
So let's continue with the tradition. It's Jamuary time once again. Don't be frantic and burn yourself out in the process. Do what you can, what is meaningful to you, or just browse around and get inspired.
Later in January I'll be announcing a partnership with a competition and some amazing prizes, that I'm sure you'll all want to have a go at. This will go down on my Instagram, so make sure to head over there and keep an eye out for the announcement.

Have had my M8 around…5 weeks? Cannot put it down. Just too much fun. I’d be so thrilled if you did some in depth tutorials, but am not sure it would be worth it to someone with such a large subscriber base with so few of these machines out in the wild

Love seeing little jams like these done on the M8. It's incredibly easy to just get sucked in and loop locked for hours fiddling with the touchscreen and mute/solo 😅

Maybe it's just me but I'd say it rare to identify an artist in the electronic scene without a visual cue but cuckoo always has a clear identity and sound from any device he touches ..👍

I bought the Polyend Tracker which I love, but in seeing your awesome jam on this device, it makes me really want to get my hands on one of these! The fact that it has a touch sensitive screen for modulation, etc is GROOVY! Nice video! And Happy New Year!
It's good times for Tracker lovers. Several very good options out there. This one is really well executed. Feels extremely tight and snappy, and with great on-board synth engines.

Are you telling me it’s a touch screen!? I think I loved that thing since I seen it in 2020! It is quite small though, can you plug it into a monitor?
In a manner. Remote display over USB, including acting as a USB audio interface for sampling from the computer, recording into your DAW, etc., and can be controlled from your computer keyboard if you wish.

A good Android phone with FL Studio Mobile or Caustic 3 is way more versatile and powerful for cheaper. What is this new bleep gadget seriously.

The Portable has no ETA. Grab an M8 when you can. You won’t regret it.
(Portable will surely be good, of course, just different and still with no release date or even target window.)
hey I was wondering can you give me a suggestion I just picked up at opz one and op1 was wondering what should be my next device looking to have multiple devices controlling one thing in the song so this way if I have to redo something or if I want to switch it up real quick I can easily do that
saw one of my fav japanese composer trying out this one. Reminds me of Amiga days, but wish it had a supersmall keyboard for notes.

FWIW - The M8 is great with just the buttons (or computer keyboard via remote display) but happily accepts midi controllers for entry/recording. Hook up a little one when you want, leave it behind when you don’t.
op-z works nice with M8 ;)
@b29 I find that getting the OP-Z to reliably connect and start passing MIDI to the M8 is a bit flaky, but, yeah, the two are definitely a nice pocketable pair.
My 1 year old daughter is totally jiving to this .. 💯😊🤟🏾 love the vibes

Love it! The M8 Tracker seems to be a really incredible little machine for sequencer lovers. I hope someday stock stops being so scarce. Also, mechanical keys on music instruments is a real passion of mine haha.
Does the screen work as a touchpad for modulation? I had never seen/heard about this feature before. This machine seems to be cooler every time I see it :O

Yeah, you can map X and Y movements on the touchscreen to pretty much any parameter!

This thing looks so cool! How difficult is it to delve into?
If you have experience with trackers, especially LSDJ/LGPT-style, then it's easy. Otherwise it takes a short amount of time to build the muscle memory and get used to the tracker approach. I find it super logical.
Sounds great! I don't know whether anyone else has asked this yet, but was this track inspired by Shpongle's "Dorset Perception"? :)
Thanks! I had not heard that song, so I had to look it up. It's a common and fun short phrase, especially in the mediterranean region I believe. Makes sense on guitar like that.

In a way. M8 MIDI controller (and touchscreen) binding is really easy and flexible. Lots of binding slots, and lots of targets.

Looks like it has a touchscreen that operates like a Korg Kaossilator, beyond that I'm not sure what I was seeing. Lol

Lol, I’ll rig the camera properly once I get back from family holiday. The screen X/Y axis can be hooked into virtually any parameters you want, as well as any MIDI device too, so you can have a lot of fun setting that up.

You always get your sound into every device instead of the device making your sound. I am imagining walking down the street beating up street punks, ninjas, and robots to find Mr. X while sustaining myself on a diet of apples, turkeys, and money I find in trash cans. This is the lost soundtrack to streets of rage cuckoo edition.

This was great to see, all of the videos I’d seen thus far were pre-sequenced. I wasn’t sure how the m8 would work with a real jam but you sounded excellent! What parameters did you have mapped to X and Y? Sounded like a filter cutoff and something else?

I was a early backer on Patreon. This is the most capable groovebox that fits in your pocket, so glad I’m starting to see more videos about it.

I ordered from the first batch. I think he'll evaluate the first batch, and see if anything unforeseen happens through the early community. Finetune the firmware a bit, and then start thinking about the second batch. Not a Mate for your eyes unfortunately.
It’s surprisingly clear in person in your own hands, and I’m saying that as someone who has started needing glasses. And, failing that, there’s remote display over USB, so you can throw it onto a monitor as large as you want (and optionally use your computer keyboard if you wish.)
It is small, but UI is tidy and easy to read on the screen. But trackers rely heavily on sight. It's not something you can run blindfolded.
Like Mvdirty said, the computer integration works extremely well. You connect it to the Chrome browser, and it'll mirror the whole experience (also the sound) in the browser window. Very snappy.
