Thank you Boss for all your hard work see you next time :)
I think it's amazing that, in my many playthroughs of this game spread out throughout the years, so much of these themes, misdirections, hidden details, etc. that Futura points out in his plethora of MGS V videos went right over my head at the time, even though some are in plain site, I was just so caught up in enjoying the masterfully crafted gameplay of MGS and getting joyful entertainment out of it, that, even though hints of these things crept up, they weren't obvious enough that I would notice them over just enjoying a game. It's interesting how this melting pot of ideas and gameplay show to different players such as myself.
Great vid, and glad I found your channel. Subbed. One thing I'd like to point out about Kaz's eyes, though. Kaz has always had cataracts, implied to have been caused by his mother having an STI when he was born. It's why he has always worn sunglasses.
I thought that when Kaz said no more use for me that was a reference to when he an ocelot talked about venom being the dopple ganger that they would have to protect. Maybe he was mad at the real BB and just wanted to get that out of system. But then again I could be yard's off :/

I can't wait to get into this topic. We all know Ocelot is a triple agent triple crossing everyone. Juggling agencies and handlers like he used to juggle those wheel guns. But Kaz... Oof, what a history. When I met the man, he was already dead in a cabin not too far from Shadow Moses. The only report I had was a... Phantom... of him by Liquid, it fooled his closest friends and set a baseline for the kind of man Miller was to his peers. By the time TPP came out, I felt like something was off with him the whole time. Telling Venom he's calling the shots but undermines him at every turn, refusing the prosthetics knowing where they come from, consistently opposes anything Ocelot suggests, flinches when Huey calls him a traitor too, and the nail in the coffin was Codetalker's cryptic warning. He had something to hide and it wasn't all laid out bare. The conversation with Zero isn't too damning. Spies gotta spy, liars gotta lie BUT what's Kaz's Endgame? His motivations? Where does his loyalty lie ultimately?
"The past always remains with us, but how it's remembered and what it ultimately means is constantly changing with the present." That's going to stick with me a long time.
I really appreciate that you deliver the story and the backstory of the unique past as well as the present , mgs games in a sense are not designed to make sense, that's what separates these games from others, just when you think you have everything figured out, the plot twisted. Great video my friend.👍👍
@@benjaminfromcanadakanada3948the creepy thing is, mgs predicted a world controlled by and dependent on a wide information network. Look what we have in real life now.
I just ralized why David Hayter isnt voicing Snake in MGSV, but Keifer Sutherland is. Its because you are not playing Snake, and thats also why Kaz doesnt recognize your voice when you free him.
Also glad you brought up Silent Hill re: the way the Skulls move. I always thought of them as moving in a horror-creature way (perhaps specifically j-horror popularized that kind of jerky movement). As a horror fan I always enjoy the horror bits Kojima injects in to his games as they are usually quite excellent (which makes me think Silent Hills would've turned out pretty good :( I think their movement also resembles that of a marionette, which would make sense in representing the skulls, but also recalls psycho mantis controlling other people, especially the B&B corps in MGS4. Fwiw, I think "Voices" is a fantastic bit of horror gameplay. Slowly making your way towards and in to the Devil's House is one of the creepiest and unnerving sequences I've played.
Nothing and no one can or ever will convince me that Ocelot actually hypnotized himself to forget such crucial things. Ocelot is just being Ocelot, playing the role he is supposed to for that time. Not Adamska, not Revolver, not Ocelot, but aid to Venom. I'll never believe he hypnotized himself then.
Great video, I can’t believe I never noticed how Miller has 3 days to live here and was killed 3 days prior Solid Snake infiltrating Shadow Moses. There’s a lot to unpack here but that’s very interesting.
This better get 25k views. 1. Because you deserve it. You do an amazing job with these and 2. Because its my favorite series right now. Keep up the great work!
I had always assumed that too. I've gone through this game a handful of times and BB's character motivation still puzzles me. It would've helped if the game showed us more to the world wanting him dead, rather than just being told. Same thing with all of Zero's motivations and actions.
Super late response, obviously, but yeah. I thought Kaz had cataracts because his mother had an STI when he was born. That's why he has always worn sunglasses all the way back to his first appearance.
My theory on the skull unit's guns is that it is indeed formed with metallic archaea, as well as being composed of metallic archaea. We already know it can be used to enrich uranium, corrode metal, used in improving machines à la Huey Emmerich, and be used to puppet humans. So it's not too far fetched to say that the weapons are composed of the metallic archaea. It could be possible that the mist is an inert form of the archaea that the skulls can manipulate.
Question: how did Venom get so muscular within the 10 days from awaking? Do you think the syringe Ocelot inhected him with was some type of super steroid/nanomachines that rebuilt his muscle tissue within a couple of days?
I've always been fairly certain that Ocelot was at least one of Miller's principal interogators / handlers (and the high likelyhood that he eventually becomes his assassin in 2005). Or that Miller was under his jurisdiction as Shalashaska. How else would he know so much about Miller than if he handled the matter personally. It is also not explicit in any game when the two met. I've always been puzzled by the change in Miller's eyes, along with Code Talker's cryptic warning about them. This is a fascinating mystery. There is much to indicate Skull Face spared Miller's life after the Skulls Unit ambush. This is ostensibly done to in order to draw Big Boss out from hiding and into the open. But in order to do so, he releases Miller into custody of Soviet forces, making him a visible and accessible target under Ocelot's purview. The exchange would likely mean he and Ocelot have a "gentleman's agreement", a game theory -style play between both spymasters and interrogators. Skull Face gets his wish, exposing "Big Boss" by using Miller as bait. Ocelot gains entrance into Diamond Dogs by only placing the Big boss' Phantom into harm's way, allowing Big Boss to escape Skull Face's notice. Later, Skull Face may have his doubts, but actually *seems* convinced he is facing the real Big boss when Venom and him meet at OKB Zero. Ocelot himself insists to Venom Snake how critical is is to play into Skull Face's plan by rescuing Miller, therefore further reinforcing Venom's confidence in him, Miller owing him one despite having every reason to hate him, and Skull Face being none the wiser about Big Boss. That's some good conning, con man. Skull Face likely had Miller injected with parasites not long before handing him off to Ocelot. The purpose and effects of that treatment could be anything from the medical intervention required to save the lone survivor of the ambush OR to use him as a trojan-horse style trap (just like he did with Paz) by implanting him with a strain of the vocal cord parasites, perhaps, in order to make him a transmission vector at Mother Base, OR an attempt to control him via the parasites in the event of his death (the second outbreak happens - after - his death, read only AFTER Huey makes absolutely sure he is dead and fiddling with the scanning equipment at MB, etc) Whatever actually happens, it seems Skull Face was using Miller in some way. Anyways... the ramblings of a madman!
Remember - Kaz speaks in the Chico tape where they are implanting the bomb into Paz "Give her the damn shot!". Miller and Skullface were working together, at least for a time.
You mention how the game is filled with mirrors and inversions. In this scene Kaz is blind in his left eye from swelling. This is a mirror of Snake who is blind in his right eye.
Wouldn't it be something if "Cyprus" was really in Cuba and Venom is put out for a few more days while he recovers his strength until the ship he rides legit ends up going into the Indian Ocean.
You didn't adress the bionic arm change, from yellow to red. I Would really like to hear your thoughts about that. Btw, nice touch at the end, with the white thing.
I have a theory, maybe it makes sense. At the beginning we see that venom snake gets colour blind to red and now think the thing ocelot injects in snake makes him colur blind for a short period of time and he gets okay by the time they reach Afghanistan.. Sorry for my bad english:)
Personally, I think it's just for storytelling reasons. They can continue with the Moby Dick reference while giving Venom time to recover, even if it is a stretch for him to regain all that muscle and become acquainted with his prosthetic arm in that short amount of time.
17:45 ish - Maybe Skull Face, to get Kaz on board with the whole "Venom Snake" thing??? Again though I know I've said this before but *god* I love it when the little details are put together like this. I never really thought of the fact that Kaz responded to English despite being in Afghanistan.
The way Kaz drops his head it’s like he knows there and then the boss has abandoned him , maybe he doesn’t understand who or what venom is straight away , but I think he sees through it.
Millers first reaction to Venom might just be showing that his mind might not be all there due to the torture. And i don't think that Kaz used Parasites, like Code Talker, i just think over time his eyes because milky. I do believe that the Soviets tortured him to the point of blinding him which would also explain his state if mind, losing some sort of sense would not be good for someone's mental state.
@23:20 ....OR.... the light references are in reference to lucifer. Notice that at the exact same time, the focus is on his ONE EYE. Having one eye removed is an act of devotion & loyalty in satanic organizations. The act is of course referencing the "all seeing eye" symbology. I would also be willing to bet that there is a major inversion in that scene. In heaven, lucifer was the light bearer. On earth, he is the inversion. The master of shadows.
The first minute and fifty seconds of this video may also cause some "conflicts" with the "good listener's" "internal timeline" "for a special reason."
Got my sub you lost me way back in vid one but damn I appreciate the effort I love this series and am ashamed to admit don’t understand the story that well these vids help keep up the good work!
I've never seen someone mention how when you rescue miller and you say "kept you waiting, huh" snake says it differently for the first time ever. Because it isn't his catchphrase, not his words to speak. He knows the words but not how they're meant to be said because he isn't snake. He just thinks he is

They both have a child through a failed marriage, both have worked for Cipher and claim to be on your side before leaving cursing Big Boss’s name, and they also point fingers at others when they don’t want to admit a wrong doing they did.
With how the story unfolds in MGSV, how do we know that the Kaz we rescue is actually Kaz?
It's kaz no doubt about it.
And the events he got through it made sense because of his betrayal during Zanibar mission.
Great vid, and glad I found your channel. Subbed. One thing I'd like to point out about Kaz's eyes, though. Kaz has always had cataracts, implied to have been caused by his mother having an STI when he was born. It's why he has always worn sunglasses.
This is my favorite series on youtube. Youre a pro at this
These videos are great, you do a good job of explaining things most people didn't understand about MgsV

I thought that when Kaz said no more use for me that was a reference to when he an ocelot talked about venom being the dopple ganger that they would have to protect. Maybe he was mad at the real BB and just wanted to get that out of system. But then again I could be yard's off :/
I think it has to be an oil tanker. The imagery of the changing world with Snake passing from a whaler to an oil tanker is on point.
The idroid is Kojima not getting sued by Apple or Android…pretty Smart damnit. I hate having to give creative geniuses credit. Makes me feel so, insignificant…
Will you make an "what even happened" episode of the original metal gear and metal gear 2? Would love to hear a detailed decription of those games!
Yes, I caught the premiere!! I don't miss any of your videos. I'm playing mgsv right now actually! It's replayability is great!
I wish you could start a fresh game though ....
@@ciaranmcgrath3273 If you have PSplus, upload your PS4 save to the cloud. Then delete the save on your console. You get a brand new save WITH your online GMP and resources, eliminating a lot of grind.
I return to it regularly too 😂 those Soviet soldiers must dread hearing "Kids in America", knowing Venom is once again back to kill/kidnap them by the dozen
me too bro ^^ started again a new game. glad there are many people who still play it.
@@Fox_Pajama Sounds great but I'm on Xbox. I'd rather play the whole game in Subsistence to be honest. I like the stealth challenge.
FS drops a video-> I dash
Brother, when you spoke of miller’s eyes it seems you have a missing file in your Final Cut project. Whatever graphic you wanted to display there showed up as the “missing file” icon in this version you uploaded. 20:25
I spotted it and wanted to let you know.
that sucks!
@@FuturasoundProductions I feel ya. I edit on FCP too and it is annoying for sure.
Great video nonetheless 💪🏼
Where does his loyalty lie ultimately?
burgers
i hate that youtube remove the fucking upload date of every video that is abit new
"The past always remains with us, but how it's remembered and what it ultimately means is constantly changing with the present." That's going to stick with me a long time.
I really appreciate that you deliver the story and the backstory of the unique past as well as the present , mgs games in a sense are not designed to make sense, that's what separates these games from others, just when you think you have everything figured out, the plot twisted. Great video my friend.👍👍
I've watched so many marathon streams of the entire series, and I'm so ready to ABSORB another one of your breakdowns.
Great channel. Thanks!!!
Spoilers: The idroid is a smart phone. It's name is clearly a reference toward the two biggest mobile platform: " i " phone and an'droid'.
Something to do with the gw ai!
@@benjaminfromcanadakanada3948the creepy thing is, mgs predicted a world controlled by and dependent on a wide information network.

Right???
I just ralized why David Hayter isnt voicing Snake in MGSV, but Keifer Sutherland is. Its because you are not playing Snake, and thats also why Kaz doesnt recognize your voice when you free him.
So true and well said
Porém no ground zeroes vc joga com o snake original o verdadeiro big boss e já é o Keifer
Also glad you brought up Silent Hill re: the way the Skulls move. I always thought of them as moving in a horror-creature way (perhaps specifically j-horror popularized that kind of jerky movement). As a horror fan I always enjoy the horror bits Kojima injects in to his games as they are usually quite excellent (which makes me think Silent Hills would've turned out pretty good :(
I think their movement also resembles that of a marionette, which would make sense in representing the skulls, but also recalls psycho mantis controlling other people, especially the B&B corps in MGS4.
I'm in love with these videos make more please
It is always a good day when you upload
1 hour after premiere this video has 1.3k views. I really hope it continues up to and beyond the target because I love this series.
Great video, I can’t believe I never noticed how Miller has 3 days to live here and was killed 3 days prior Solid Snake infiltrating Shadow Moses. There’s a lot to unpack here but that’s very interesting.
To say that this game is EXTREMELY layered would be a MASSIVE understatement!😄. Love the videos! Best game ever!
That song at the end too.....paz segment. Mirage. The vision fades. Gets me every time
Honestly i didnt know this could be that interesting thank you for the video futurasound
This better get 25k views. 1. Because you deserve it. You do an amazing job with these and 2. Because its my favorite series right now. Keep up the great work!
i agree this is fantastic and it gave me a whole new appreciation of mgs v considering it seemed a bit bare bones compared to other the games
I just thought that Kaz said 'no use for me' is just directed towards the real Big Boss
I had always assumed that too. I've gone through this game a handful of times and BB's character motivation still puzzles me. It would've helped if the game showed us more to the world wanting him dead, rather than just being told. Same thing with all of Zero's motivations and actions.
When you were talking about gift, I was reminded of the bomb that ocelot leaves snake in msg1
Dude fudge that thing. I remember completely ignoring it even with the codec calls thinking that its a dud and then it explodes. 😂😂😂
Kaz's eyes are a result of cataracts
Super late response, obviously, but yeah. I thought Kaz had cataracts because his mother had an STI when he was born. That's why he has always worn sunglasses all the way back to his first appearance.
The three days Easter egg is quite clever
28:53 that’s actually the exact opposite of subtle though isn’t it?
No-one:

So big boss is really all the friends we made along the way
My theory on the skull unit's guns is that it is indeed formed with metallic archaea, as well as being composed of metallic archaea.
I like this theory. The mist disappears as soon as they escape too. Its as if, its something they are emitting from themselves.
that's why you are the best boss, the one and only.
The most important thing to remember with Metal Gear lore is that EVERYONE is an unreliable narrator.
Think I might start this game up again
Question: how did Venom get so muscular within the 10 days from awaking? Do you think the syringe Ocelot inhected him with was some type of super steroid/nanomachines that rebuilt his muscle tissue within a couple of days?
Nanomachines, son
The sneaking suit makes him look massive, especially the legs. Maybe it has enhancing properties like the one Solidus had in mgs2
@@rizadon18
Venom looks pretty beefy even without the sneaking suit. For example picking the "naked" options on the camo BDUs
15:27 this was supposedly composed by Kaz and Paz on Peace day, both of their names means "Peace" in Japanese and spanish
28:20 The turbulence also sounds very similar to when Mother Base is destroyed and BB+Kaz are trying to escape towards the helicopter.
Goddamn, your videos are of incredibly remarkable quality!
@@waltlock8805 Interesting note! I never thought of that voice as belonging to Kaz.
You mention how the game is filled with mirrors and inversions. In this scene Kaz is blind in his left eye from swelling. This is a mirror of Snake who is blind in his right eye.
"BeT ThE PheNteM Pen... Et Never LeTs Ep"
I’VE BEEN WAITING
Seeing giant horns and blood covered snake in all these videos just reminds me no body played this game right
Wouldn't it be something if "Cyprus" was really in Cuba and Venom is put out for a few more days while he recovers his strength until the ship he rides legit ends up going into the Indian Ocean.
@@TheHunter-um5bo I think so too and it's ok
A good topic, would be why did ocelot not transfer snake to a chopper. Why a whale ship. Why don't we see the ship again in the game.
Let me know what you smoke to be in the same headspace as Kojima
Millers first reaction to Venom might just be showing that his mind might not be all there due to the torture. And i don't think that Kaz used Parasites, like Code Talker, i just think over time his eyes because milky. I do believe that the Soviets tortured him to the point of blinding him which would also explain his state if mind, losing some sort of sense would not be good for someone's mental state.
I'm so glad to have you and your passion for a series I love. I'm hoping this UA-cam thing is working out for you.
*Me coming from MGS III to MGS V:*
Wait a minute... who _are_ you?
27:27 Makes you think of Death Stranding's 3D printing, doesn't it?
These videos are amazing!
"You're pretty good."
To quote oneyplays "I love re-used assets!"
But they didn't use Ground Zeroes music in Phantom Pain sadly
I hope you realize that you make THE best MGS content - and the best video game content - on UA-cam. Keep it up!!
Metal Gear Solid was made for you. The series is completed by the fans relentless and insightful analysis.
I've never seen someone mention how when you rescue miller and you say "kept you waiting, huh" snake says it differently for the first time ever. Because it isn't his catchphrase, not his words to speak. He knows the words but not how they're meant to be said because he isn't snake. He just thinks he is
26:45 could also be the Japanese number translation which is 0(oh)-Ni "Oni"
Does that mean that ocelot purposely cut off Miller’s limbs so he would be easier to kill during metal gear solid
27:20 that's a G11 my man
Wait what? Already another video out?
Do I really need to rewatch this video 1803 times to get part 4? Well was gonna do it anyway.
Why does everyone think it's the real ocelot and not the fact big boss might have multiple doubles of him.
Can you make a full timeline with every game?
