To me this place is quintessential Australia. I am a boomer. I lived in a place like this for part of my childhood. The school bus would pick me up and drop me at the gate at night. Memories. That rocking horse would be worth a pretty penny,

For a place that’s been potentially empty for 6 years it sure is clean on the inside. I think the sheep need a talking to as the grass is a bit too long.

It's s lot of work sorting/packing/moving stuff. In most cases I feel it's an elderly couple that passes away and kin don't have the time or energy or space to deal with their possessions left behind. Lots of elderly I know are hoarders, too.

He did say that the house looked to be made of fibro sheeting (which is asbestos) and that's likely why they left. It looked liked a relatively young couple to me, based on the baby furniture in the garage and the child's bed inside, probably from that baby! They really didn't leave anything of much value behind. Except all of those great baskets in the kitchen!

When my parents passed, i could have locked the front door of the house and walked away, but it had to be sold unfortunately. Packing up your life and your parents posessions isnt easy, i can so understand why houses are left empty full of stuff

@@kyliemitchellharper6872 my mother passed 15 years ago, it took me 2 weeks to clear her house, that was AFTER my brothers & wives basically trashed the house looking for valuables & taking what they wanted, rented a dumpster & threw away a lot of what I would have taken & coated it in flour and her perfumed powders...(the dumpster not the house), I made the mistake of not going there one day.... THEN we found out we couldn't sell the house because she had a reverse mortgage... We even had a buyer.... If I would have known that beforehand, I would have just walked away.

Abandoned homes in England are usually choc full of furniture & possessions, rarely do you find one that has been cleared unlike Australian abandonments. That rocking horse is an absolute beauty, I sincerely hope someone rescues it..🙋🏻‍♀️🇬🇧

I drive all over Sydney for work, and am always on the lookout for abandoned places. I mostly don't have time to stop, but will cruise past slowly to admire the decay.
One thing I've become aware of is not all decayed buildings with caved in rooves, and vines growing through broken windows, are abandoned....look a bit harder and I'll notice a car in the driveway, and someone hanging clothes on a busted hills hoist which is visible through a hole in the fence clearly made by a runaway car.
It cracks me up that people will let their house fall down around them and carry on with life. In a weird way I admire their devotion to the abandoned aesthetic

Mmmmm lots of asbestos sheeting used to build this home so possibly as you say maybe condemened - & mostly I think the regulations condem the contents also - again a little sad to see someone's home abandoned 💕(love how your mum has those old door handles in her home - my aunty had them too)

G'day Paul ... from the number of safety rails and 'grab' handles in the bathroom and toilet, it comes to mind that the last people who lived there might have been elderly and needed to go to other 'accommodation'. The rocking horse would be worth good money to buy today.

You could tell it hadn’t been empty too terribly long because I saw a mini split heat pump unit in the living room. I’m surprised there was just one in the house. Since it’s summer there I was surprised to see an electric fence going without an obvious weed eating done around the fences. It does still look really green though. Nice find.

Love your work! My toddler and I watched this adventure with great interest. It’s nice yet sad to see an abandoned home so intact, always wonder about the story behind it.

I never thought the house would be so big and it's in really good condition. I would take it but Australia is soooo far away. 😢👍👍I wonder why they left such great stuff behind! Cheers 🍺

There's an old abandoned house not far from where I live with everything still there when the old woman passed away.

Rental standards changed in the late 90`s and when these older homes get a few expensive issues with them the farmers don worry about fixing them as the cheap rent they get aint viable any more. Cheers for watching :-)

That bird was not happy with you being there. Better than guard dog for notification of stranger.
