- In today's full time RV Living & Van Life travel vlog, I get to do another camper van tour of a Winnebago Travato with a pretty awesome bathroom modification.
You guys know I love my Travato but my biggest complaint is the shower situation. it's not really set up for full time RV living and real van life. John and Cora have solved that issue with some pretty clever camper van modifications. John and Cora really have turned their camper van into an awesome tiny house on wheels.
We also do a camper van tour. They've done some other pretty cool mods inside the living area of their Winnebago Travato.
My name is Kevin! I quit my job to travel full time in 2019. I started out traveling the world, hopping from country to country every 30 days. When international travel became impossible, I bought a Winnebago Travato 59KL and set out to experience van life and full time RV living, camping all over the United States. Love the mods - cabinets to match their needs, bike bottle holders, use of magnets - both trash can and curtain weights. Great adaption for the shower curtain, and as they were demonstrating it, thought od a further mod. Instead of a single U shaped rail with both curtains joining at back, consider 2 L shape rails overlapping in back. Then, instead of having to bull each curtain arouns and secure, the overlapping rails next to each other would allow the curtains to naturally overlap 6" or so, creating a dry rear. Also liked the squeegee.

The bungie netting in the overhead cabinets is a great idea. I always have electronics and chargers fall out when I open mine lol The bicycle holders for soap dispensers is genius level thinking, great stuff!

Really creative mods, especially the bathroom. I would go with a different material for the shower curtain and make it opaque but that’s me. Creative storage solutions but a little too cluttered for me. I think the goal in a van should be to minimize the amount of stuff instead of seeing how much you can cram into a small space . To each his own though. If they feel they need everything they carry at least they’ve found a way to store it all. This guy is pretty handy.

We actually changed the curtain since we did this video. The clear was great fir demonstration purposes. The back closet was the first thing I worked on because we frequent the beaches here in Florida and just wanted a better way to carry beach items without being in the way. But then we realized how much more room we had in that closet space. It’s unbelievable that WBGO didn’t utilize that space better.
WOW That was a VERY informative video chocked full of creativity ! This is one to replay and make note of the simple but useful mods. Taking out drawers for more space was brilliant. And the new shower curtain hanger was practical as well. Thank you for sharing .

Perfect! I really prefer the 59KL layout but know I will need more freezer space, so I've contemplated if adding a Dometic portable fridge/freezer would solve the issue. Nice to actually see someone who has made that work.

That's cool. BUT I definitely thought of how your OCD was kicking in your psyche thinking of your own rig being this "lived in" and what you must have thought LoL my own rig (I have a TT) and it's lived in too 😉 I love their ingenuity! I’m glad you enjoyed it some of the things are not that difficult. I actually taught Cora how to use a small drill gun and screw those magnets and hooks. She went screw crazy! Lol! The closet will need a handy person with a little (not much) experience to accomplish.

I love how they made it work for them, and Travato took some notes as they now have a shower curtain track and a pull handle for the rear passenger door. I also wondered where you could put beach umbrellas and folding chairs in there. Now Travato has put the water system in there so not sure if it would work to cut into the cabinet. Great mods, thanks for sharing!
