    Liz, your videos are so real and fun to watch. Having a rolling mill is a game changer. I got one a few years ago and three months later wrote a tutorial on how to use a rolling mill. Since then, I’ve learned so much more. Let me know if you want that tutorial. Your bezel is so smooth. Is bezel construction something you would consider making into a UA-cam video? Thank you for yet another awesome video!!

    Realized today I hadn't watched this video (darn notification on my phone disappeared when it posted).The rolling mill seems like such a great tool that'll be helpful to use with your scrap. Well done to Zach for such a great gift. The scrap ring came out pretty!

    Congrats on the present how awesome. Always anneal the metal before you put it through the rolling mill so it will go through easier. Let me know if you need any help. You will love it I make ingots and roll out to 18 ga sterling silver out of my scraps it saves you so much

      I am a little confused because someone else commented saying I have to pickle and throughly clean before rolling, so should I anneal and repickle multiple times while rolling out a piece? I need to do some research, I was just goin’ for it in this video without knowing what I was doing at all. 😂 I appreciate your help!! He did also get me an ingot thing, I just don’t have a hot enough torch to melt metal in a crucible right now. That’s on the list for sure!! 📝

    Kay, I had to pause the video for a sec and ask you before my adhd brain made me forget... where the heck can I find a big ass bag of scrap silver like that?! Is it affordable?? I need! I have brand new silver bit I'm scared up break into it (I've been using copper). I think if I could start on scrap it might take away thr anxiety of screwing up... maybe. 😅

      Most of the scrap I have is just from past projects, pieces I’ve messed up or taken apart or just little cut offs from bezels or whatever. I have found scrap broken silver jewelry on eBay in the past! I just looked and I’m not seeing any right now but I also didn’t dig super deep. You may have luck there!

    Liz you need to pickle the silver nugget before you put it in your rolling mill…. Where did Zack buy your rolling mill from???
    Love this video ❤❤❤❤

      @@Lizfoolery after you pickle make sure you have a baking soda and water mixture, it neutralizes the pickle. Then rinse it in water. Then make sure you scrub that nugget with some Don soap and a toothbrush underwater. Make sure all the pickle is off before you put it through your rolling mill. The acid from the pickle can ruin your equipment… I just wanted you to know that… cool I think I know which one he bought…

      After pickling and neutralizing make sure your metal is dry before putting it into the rolling mill otherwise yournice new present is going to rust hell and when that happens there is no way back.

    Anneal your materials often. Watch tutorial videos. They'll keep you from potentially damaging your rollers.

      @@LizfooleryHave a blast. Rollers are fun and really really useful.
      I've seen professionals having to start from scratch because they don't take their time to anneal enough. Can you tell that I'm a big advocate of annealing?

    • @Lizfoolery
      @Lizfoolery  Рік тому

      @@64t120r I’m a little confused because a couple people have said to anneal often but I also got a comment saying to pickle and clean your metal completely before rolling…so am I supposed to anneal, pickle, clean several times rolling our one piece? Or just anneal and roll without pickling in between? I will def have to watch some videos, haha. I certainly want my mill to last. 😇

    • @64t120r
      @64t120r Рік тому

      @@Lizfoolery I've seen different combinations of procedures. Speaking strictly for myself, pickling is a judgement call. If I see any oxidation, scaling, or anything on the material after annealing and quenching in clean water I will pickle it. Again, that's just me.
      From the interest you showed, I'm sure your rolling mill will be fine for many many years to come.
