    Be adviced that there is a hard limit of 10.000 files per folder, which was a big disappointment.

    I have encountered an issue where multiple video-containing folders uploaded to my MacBook's sync folder did not fully transfer to the Sync platform on my browser. Kindly advise on the appropriate course of action to resolve this matter.

    As I (new user) understand, the automatic copying of files to the Vault occurs when folders are copied "below" the default location of my Sync folder. So the "automatic copying" to the Vault requires files be in the Sync folder, which is on my smallish 1TB SSD disk.
    I would like to be able to point to a file or folder anywhere on any disk and say "Automatically copy everything here to the Vault, now and for future file additions/modifications."
    Or, simply tell Sync to treat any data under a folder on my data disk the same as the default Sync folder.
    What to do?

      I think what you're trying to do is backup multiple folders from different disks? I think it's a great feature suggestion and would be very useful. Your sync folder is not the "vault" though. The Vault is stored in the cloud only. Your "files" in your sync folder are stored both on your disk locally and in the cloud.

      @@TEK411 I have unlimited space with my Sync acct. I'm starting to understand how it works (I believe!). I want Sync to keep a copy of all my files on my internal HD and external HDs so I can free up space on my internal and external HDs. It seems I need to manually transfer/copy my files from my internal and external HDs to the Vault section. Apparently my Sync folder is doubling usage on my internal HD, BUT I've been copying files from my internal HD to the Sync folder, thinking that's how to back the files up to the cloud. I then delete the files I manually moved to Sync from my internal HD. Am I screwing things up by doing that or am I losing all those files since Sync is actually syncing and thus also deleting files I delete on my internal HD???

      @@Zebrajellyfishphoto It sounds like you want to keep the files only on Sync and no longer store them on your internal/external drives to free up space. If that is the case, you need to back them up to sync first. Once they are backed up they will be stored in both locations. Then you can access the sync web panel and move them to your "Vault". When you move the files to your Vault it will keep the files on sync but remove them from all your devices.

    One thing I will say about Sync....their "help" is awful. It's almost like they have no idea how to answer your questions and they really only send a link when they do respond to your question. It takes DAYS to get a response just to have that response be the same link that sparked question to begin with. I found your video while trying to answer my own question.
    So I will ask you since you seem to know more than they do....I had a mass amount of files to upload to Sync and I needed a faster way to do so, therefore, I was using the desktop app to upload. I went the web interface and all my files were there. However, I now want to delete the files from my local storage to free up space, but I need them to still be accessible on the web. So, should I delete the app and then delete the files off of my local storage in order to not compromise the files being removed from the web? This seems to be a difficult question for sync to answer.

      @TEK411  Рік тому

      Wow I'm sorry you had this experience! You could do it that way but the way I would suggest doing it is to move the files to your Sync vault through the web panel. When you do that, you will still be able to keep all the files on your desktop Synchronized but it will remove them from your desktop hard drive and keep them only on the Sync cloud servers in your vault. That's the best thing about the vault. Is that that's basically online storage only. Now after you move them to the vault and they are removed from your desktop, the space may still appear to be used for 30 days because they will remain in the cache. You can clear the cache within the Sync desktop app. Then if at a later time you need to move files out of the vault and back to your desktop. You just do that on the web panel and it will synchronize the files back onto your desktop.

    How do I set up sync to work on an external hard drive and not on the main hard drive within my computer; I'm using a Mac after moving from Windows?

    • @TEK411
      @TEK411  Рік тому

      You would change the sync folder location in the desktop app to be located on your external hard drive. I do not recommend using an external hard drive if it can be avoided.

    Great video, thank you. My question is: Often when I move a file using the PC Windows app, the next day it is back to where it was, and sometimes it's in both locations. And, sometimes when I rename a file, the next day I will now have two files: The original and the renamed version. Just last night I removed the ones I didn't want (again), and this morning they are back... Grrr.. I have reached out to support, but have not heard anything yet. Any ideas?

    • @TEK411
      @TEK411  Рік тому

      I'm sorry to hear this. That's not how it should be working. It's really hard to say without looking at the device. One possible solution is to try removing the app and then reinstalling. Support should get back to you and be able to provide a solution.

    on MacBook Pro M1 ,I've put everything on my vault folder online. But even though my sync folder on my Mac shows no files, it's somehow still taking up room. very confused as to where these files are?please help

    • @TEK411
      @TEK411  Рік тому

      Sync does cache files on the client. It will remove them usually after 30 days or you can manually remove them by choosing the clear cache in the preferences.

    When I share a link on a file or entire folder, does the other party needs to have a sync account in order to open it? I know mega does not require an account to open file. Mega vs Sync, especially for link sharing, which is better?

    • @TEK411
      @TEK411  8 місяців тому

      Depends on how its shared. If your sharing a link you can specify who has access and you can also set a password. If you share it directly with someone in email I believe they need to have an account to open it. If you allow anonymous access anyone with a link can open it. You can also specify a password so that anyone with the link can access it but they will need the password as well to open/download. Hope this helps.

      @@TEK411 I have just tried the free plan, but cannot set file or video to view only, however even when I don't click the download button, I still can save the video by using right click, open video in new tab, then save the video, looks like there is some flaw in their player. I was wondering whether the paid plan can be done the same way if you restrict permission to view only?

    Is there any speed limit when uploading files? And if you move them to the vault folder, is it automatic? Or you need yo upload them again?

    • @TEK411
      @TEK411  Рік тому +1

      There is no speed limit when uploading files. You can set a limit in the app if you want. Otherwise its limited based on your internet connection. When you move items to the vault they are automatically removed from all your synced devices and will then be stored in the cloud only.
