Hi Lisa, you are brave but definitely not alone in getting your brain and life untangled from a high control group. I’ve been inactive for a long time but when I came to a crisis point in my life I realised how subconsciously I was still attached to and being effected by my upbringing in the dare I say it the “truth”. Simply put it isn’t the truth. But real truth and happiness and love are already in us once we can remove the conditioning. All the best with your journey.

I'm not sure this is exclusive to people in the circumstances you have described Lisa.(and I know this is not what you're saying) Healing process, self realisation, awareness, awakening , call it what we will, I'm guessing it goes by many names. This sense of dislocation comes with the human condition. How else could we feel, when in truth, ' this is not my/our home' .( dislocation, people pleasing, , approval seeking, Fear. symptions of the same malady ,{maybe) As you say , we know this at a different level (or even consciously as the case maybe .) The more we heal, paradoxically it seems often the harder or darker our journey becomes ( be that even on a 'temporary' time scale) The ego, small 's' self, or our ' story' , our dream of seperation, has a lot invested in prolonging the illusion of birth to death. Fear. Just as an aside, and I am sure you know far more about this than I do. There's a kind of strange collective thing about religions, groups etc. The Witnesses I've met were always quite reasonable, sweet people , as I also found in other collectives, churches, temples , groups etc ( and in particular those collectives who might have got a ' bad press'.) in particular, but not necesserily. And when engaged on an individual level , perhaps away from peer group pressure , there appears a different energy....maybe. Yes, unravelling, good word ! Unlearning, releasing, retraining all we have previously collectively and individually learned or been taught. I could talk and talk about this , but words do so much and the rest might be cleansed, realised in Stillness..............or not... as its said, the wise person would say. Maybe. There are no accidents and life/ perception doesn’t come at us, it comes from us ( and I did write, perception, not Truth, there is a difference ( maybe)🤣 . Keep in touch dearest heart💚 . There are as many paths as people, . And the road is wide , the gate narrow. I agree with what you have said. there is so much I could say it it also from many different angles , I just felt in that moment to share the power behind healing or even just the awareness of it, and yes I do believe as a human this runs far deeper that religious control groups, this isn't about the people themselves because as you mentioned you have met some really sweet and kind people from the groups as I have , I suppose its more about the intention behind it all, think the powerful wizard of OZ, but hey lets not become victims , lets remember our shining light within as brothers and sister of this beautiful earth , thanks johnny for your in depth comment😇
