I worked at a movie theater when this came out, and man was the audience reaction brutal. So many families unaware that this is a film about teaching children how to cope with loss.
The worst part was Disney’s marketing of the movie, Jay if you haven’t seen the official trailer you should watch it for reference. In the heyday of movies like The Chronicles of Narnia, it really tried to pitch itself as such.
The women who wrote the book. Wrote it because her sons best friend was struck by lighting one random day and died. Her young child was suddenly dealing with death and loss and he didnt understand. She wanted to create a book to help children learn about loss and how to cope with it becuase death is random and it comes for all ages. She wanted parents not to hide or shield their kids from the painful thruths of this world but to embrace them and show kids that yes death is apart of life even for them.
jay you are a gem..... the world need young men like you, please take care and live a great journey, your enormous, kind and geltle heart deserves a full and happy life
This was one of the films of my childhood and still to this day I believe it to be a phenomenal piece of cinema. Even just watching your reaction I cannot help but cry. Such a sad story but such a beautiful one too
Love how honest your reaction is and your emotions, i just discovered this movie last month and it became soon one of my favorite movies, it really leaves a big impression but not only with the dealing of loss but also other aspects like with janice, her character development at the end was great and it shows where bullies come from, but mostly i find it so beautiful how leslie and jesse help each other through Terabithia and their Imagination to get through the bullying and get stronger and all the payoffs are so great, like how they deal with janice, how jesse finally punches the one bully, how his dad is the dark master and in the end the father finally Shows some love to him, how one friendship and the power of Imagination can change so much there were many elements that i could relate to from my childhood and my struggles and it reminds me of my first and best friend that i also lost sadly due to the bond becoming weaker over the years and growing problems in the friendship, but this movie reminds of all the important beautiful memories with him and that this friendship made a huge difference for my life just like with jesse and leslie and you can keep that in your heart and look who else you have in the present, thats the important message at the end when it shows how to deal with this terrible loss this movie is so mature, creative and inspiring loved your reaction and great how you talked about the movie poster quote at the beginning, it perfectly shows what the movie is about ❤❤
This came out the same year my mum passed. My dad got it for me and my older brother not knowing what it was about. Safe to say it was a tearful experience 😂 but honestly one of my favourite films to this day
I rewatched this for the first time as an adult not long ago. I remembered loving it, and it being sad. But I SOBBED through this movie as an adult. The symbolism throughout is heartwrenching.
I was scrolling saw this reaction on my recs and immediately was like "oh Jay, you poor sweet boy, you're about to die" because I just know lol, so anyways I'll watch the reaction now 😂
OMG I never commented on your videos, but I always like to see your reactions to things I like, and just when I was about to start doing my homework I get the notification that you reacted to MY COMFORT MOVIE since I was young. I need to look this up later, I hope you liked the movie.
It will be my first time seeing it, i have never see anyone speak about it But now that i looked it up, i see that it is an underrated gem with a pretty big fandom who watched it as a children
It's just how it comes completely out of nowhere. It's so instant. She's there one minute and then just... Yeah. I know that's the point, but it hurts so much.
I love this movie when I was in third grade our teacher read us his book, and I fell in love with it then, and I made sure my kids knew about it, and they love it too🥰🥰🥰🥰
This and never ending story were the first movies to break me as a child.

This movie was both INCREDIBLY INSPIRING while also being DEVASTATINGLY HEARTBREAKING!! It's such a GREAT MOVIE... Right up until... LESLIE JUST FUCKING DIES OUT OF NOWHERE!! It's like she's perfect and alive while Jess goes to the museum with his teacher... Then he gets home and his dad is just like, "YOUR FRIEND LESLIE IS DEAD!!"... Just saying the shit like he was saying "they didn't have any bananas at the grocery store."...
My mom and I read the book together and cried our eyes out. Then when the movie came out we took my dad and sister and my dad cried too. He was like how dare you two not tell me this was gonna be the saddest movie ever😂
Bless your reaction, i don't blame you, i bawled my eyes out when i first watched it, was expecting a film like Narnia where it's a happy ending, I was hoping at the end it turns out she's alive or kidnapped by the dark master or something
If you liked this, then you'll certainly appreciate the more recent film called 'Close' which is an incredible and beautiful 2022 Oscar nominated movie. I can't really say anything about it without giving out any spoilers, but it's certainly a 'must watch' film.

I also worked at a theater, we ended up putting a sign up at the ticket booth.

That scene where Jesse's being chased by the dark master and it turns out to be his dad, that has me crying every time :'(

For me I was emotional twice in this film: First with the death and then with Terabithia being see reborn in the little sister's eyes.

I've never watched this movie because I read the book when I was 10 or so and it broke me. Maybe it's finally time to watch it.
Bless your reaction, i don't blame you, i bawled my eyes out when i first watched it, was expecting a film like Narnia where it's a happy ending, I was hoping at the end it turns out she's alive or kidnapped by the dark master or something
Never seen this before. Thanks for making me cry my eyes out lol
When I first watched the movie I had already been spoiled abt the ending but I still ended up crying till I got a nosebleed😭
Seeing the title and just audibly going "oh no". Hope you're okay after this one!

This is one of my favourite movies, you should react to do the 1985 Bridge to Terabithia movie
Such a real reaction same to mine
You should watch “A Monster Calls”
ooo yes
The dad played the Baddie in Terminator 2
You should watch pay it forward. It has a similar feel to this movie

Can I recommend watching "The Book of Henry"? That's also guaranteed to get your heart broken
