I want a fireball canon that is pretty much left obscure by a Flame bow, not because I would use it but because I would feel like a badass while blasting enemies
Guys, what about a slingshot? Like, basically, you'd be able to do between 1-10 damage based on the rarity or value of the item you're slinging. It could shoot any item, and it would be a hilarious way to kill people with expensive valuables like diamonds and netherite. To differentiate it from a bow or crossbow, it would simply have a shorter arc resembling thrown snowballs, but perhaps a little faster. I think more unique weapons/tools is much better than simply adding tiers upon tiers of tools that are each +1 of each other. Plus, making unique items with tinkered attributes could be absolutely epic when you have more items with different mechanical nuances. I love having extra items to work with in vanilla but tinkered worlds: adding gravity or scale modifiers and the like (bless 1.20.5/1.21; truly the best MC has to offer).
In fairness, that does emphasise the point they're making further in the video more; The mace is super strong, if you're skilled enough to use it that way, and have the appropriate supporting gear and setup alongside it. It's like saying "Batman can beat anyone with prep time", prep time meaning what exactly? The exact amount of time it takes for him to figure out how to defeat his opponent? Exactly. If there was a weapon in an FPS game that could one-shot any enemy in the game, but you had to literally stand still facing directly towards your desired target for 10 seconds straight, would that be overpowered? no, of course not, that would be hot garbage, you'd only ever be able to kill people who are AFK, and in that case you could kill them faster by just using a normal gun. One thing that I haven't heard people talking about much with the mace is how it is directly countered by end crystals. To deal maximum damage with end crystals, your opponent needs to be fully above the obsidian block that you need to place a crystal. In regular crystal pvp this can be a challenge, but if you use the mace, you're just setting yourself up to be end crystalled, particularly since having to wind charge up gives your opponent more than enough time to react with a crystal. While the mace could still be useful in non-crystal pvp, if you have a mace and your opponent has end crystals, you either don't use the mace or you try to and die.
it seems silly of me to say this- but its main use is when im leaving the base and theres a creeper, i hop off the roof and one shot it it saves time, its fun i dont use a bow because im bad at keeping arrows on me
Well... I never knew the Market Garden was actually named after something in WW2 I just thought it was called that because a Shovel is a Gardening tool
If you're falling at least 4 blocks into a crit, Density is better than breach against full Netherite. It's only 0-3 block falls where breach has an anti-armor advantage.
I dont like the inclusion of crystals as an example of "situational burst damage" if you have a kb sword and are fast enough you can do almost full damage with the crystal every hit, the main reason everyone doesnt use it all the time is the fact that its expensive but mostly because it isnt allowed on most servers the mace also falls into this category for the same reason
exactlyy my thoughts, even when the mace in pre-releases, the target is gonna be moving and youre not gonna hit it 100%, i love how the devs said, when they're adding a new weapon they dont want to overthrow the others which to me sounds like a good principle
I'd like to offer some pvp perspectives of the mace meta as it's been some time since its release. The mace is essentially used in two kits: crystal and the mace kit. The role of the mace in the crystal kit is to basically dive bomb with the elytra, it's very stiuationally and very high skill (just like elytra crystal in general). The mace kit is more interesting, it uses two maces enchanted with density and breach. The breach mace is used with a lesser known mechanic called enchantment swapping or the cooldown trick. Essentially by swapping to the mace and swinging the sword at once, the hit will do the damage of the sword while having the enchantment properties of breach. Shields can be disabled by the axe, or by quickly swapping to the mace while doing an axe hit, which will allow you to do a mace hit while disabling the shield at once. Infinity knockback bows are actually generally banned in most pvp kits as it's incredibly annoying an unfun to deal with, but it can be countered. First, elytras significantly reduces the player's hitbox size making bow shots harder to land. Second, these kits have shield, which are used to block bow shots. Overall, the mace is not a general replacement for the sword, it's also very high skilled. If there's one criticism of the mace is that it's very high ping based, with the advantage towards low ping players. Unfortunately high ping player's mace attacks can have a massive reduction in damage due to how minecraft calcuates position. For vanilla survival pvp or smps, it all depends on what items are banned for the mace to either be good or bad. For a server that is entirely vanilla crystals are still more usable as they quickly drain totems unlike the mace.
I don't go to this school, I just make houses, so I was just thinking about the Elster skin from the beginning the entire time while enthusiastically nodding along.
you forgot breach swapping. that what really makes the mace good. Also the super long cooldown dosent matter, it still does the same damage when falling
The problem is that there's something called sword swapping making the mace deal the swords dmg with the effect of the mace so cool down isn't a problem Yes the mace can get countered by using slow falling or a bow but if you're fighting against multiple ppl and they're hogging ip on you it's very easy to at least hit once especially if they're holding totems
I think the mace can be more useful in survival if the AOE of the smash attack is improved, maybe through an enchantment. Make it so the impact of the mace is so powerful it does damage to entities standing like 2 blocks away from the one that got hit.
What about the secret technique of shielding while walking backwards? Edit: No but like seriously, people use wind charges by launching them straight down underneath them, and although it gives the most height, it absolutely guts horizontal airspeed. You also just don’t have much control in the air as in the ground, you can’t air strafe effectively and it’s way harder to reverse direction. Not only that, hitting an ACTUAL moving target trying to dodge well and full control over their own movement on uneven terrain is simply put, really hard. And at that point, you might end up using more effort for less results Honestly though? I really like the Mace, because assuming both sides, the mace user and defender, know what they are doing, it creates a really dynamic fight only seen in something like cart pvp, so honestly it’s just really cool and I think it’s fair on both sides
OK I know I left a comment saying that this video is amazing but I have to go back and say just HOW MUCH the freaking comedy style, music choice and timing (hey kinda like that mace analogy) adds to this video. You have my ass smiling this whole vid, great stuff💙
Personally I think it's first and foremost useful as an ambush pvp weapon. With a water bucket in your off hand, you can drop onto an unsuspecting target and possibly get one meaty hit to either one-shot or deal a significant amount of damage depending on height. If you notice on the way down that the drop isn't going as planned you can water bucket and quicky swap out your off-hand. In either case you're likely to follow up entirely with your sword and leaving your mace benched for the rest of the fight, unless it's a bigger more chaotic PvP fight where further opportunities can arise.
One thing that needs to be understood is that the wind charge in Minecraft is much more predictable than a rocket jump in TF2. Rocket jumps are extremely varied in the angles they can send players, and players can use them to build up some extreme speed, allowing players to actually catch opponents off guard. In addition, the damage the shovel does is consistent, as long as you are in the air when you hit the opponent. By contrast, the wind charge succumbs to Minecraft's inherent vertical speed cap, and the mace's damage depends on how high the apex of your jump is. It doesn't help that the wind charge, when thrown downward, will always launch the player the same distance upwards, whereas aerial downward shots in TF2 (known in TF2 rocket jumping as a "pogo") tends to be quite low to the ground, allowing them to be used to build and maintain speed. Minecraft doesn't allow players to get insane horizontal speed through the wind charge, and the restrictions of both it and the mace lead to the mace being almost useless, except in the highly specific situations that are used to show how the weapon (when thrown into its most powerful niche) is "broken". In other words, the trajectory of a wind charge in Minecraft is like constantly holding W when doing a rocket jump in TF2. It sends the user into a predictable trajectory that makes it practically useless in PvP.
you can use a tech called breach swapping which essentially gives ur netherite sword breach 4 and with strength 2 and a good timed crit , you can deal 3 hrts dmg to full stacked players (sharpness does not increase dmg)
Never did I expect to learn the origin of the market gardener in an MC vid of all places. I'm surprised I haven't encountered that piece of trivia whatsoever in the entirety of my time lurking in the tf2 community
With wind burst enchantment you can infinitely hit mobs, like a combo in Tekken. If you were to use this on the ender dragon, you should be able to kill him in 3 perches.
the only part about the mace i actively hate... mod balancing implications something ive noticed is that a lot of the more recent updates with stuff like the smithing template, are so ungodly toxic and harmful to mod developers, i literally know someone who wants to just add a universal upgrade template for his mod's items so he can "turn off" smithing templates in a vanilla-esq way since the mod has like 9 different upgrading types in it
imo i feel like they should change the damage from being calculated on how far u fell over to how fast youre moving instead. it would probably make it more fun to use (like if you were using it with an elytra for example) while still not deviating from its original playstyle. and if u still want crazy instakill setups just make it so after u reach "terminal velocity" start calculating damage based on how many blocks u fell at max speed
The mace is really powerful in pvp because you can hit a player with a sword then in the same tick swap to the mace with breach and the sword’s damage will come with armor piercing
I have found the mace way better than a sword for fighting common mobs a lot of times, I have 2 videos on that, but overall is just fun to play with, is useful enough to not sit on the shelf as a trophy never to be used, but not overpower to the point the whole game is centered around it wind burst is very efficient to fight groups of mobs and I feel mojang wanted people to get more into using it on fodder considering they raised its durability after the last nerfs perfectly balanced :D
The mace on bedrock works a little differently, two notable changes being that you can actually do damage while flying with elytra (and you can save yourself with elytra if you miss), and you can spam click mace on bedrock, making it way easier to hit
nah the mace in the second snapshot tho was stupidly broken (bc thats when they added the enchants for it and there were no nerfs to it yet- plus density and breach could be on the same mace and it still was a diamond sword)
I want armor and weapons with effects. Like, outside of enchants. Maybe a sword that drops from the warden, where it doubles exp when killing, but in return is only as strong as a normal diamond sword, and can't be enchanted?
@@Vetrical “a bit over double damage” in what context and compared to what? Cuz it’s certainly not double damage compared to swords and/or axes? The worst that can happen when you attend a mace jump is a bow shot in the face or get trapped in the cobweb, but a successful hit with a mace was ( and sometimes still is ) a guaranteed pop/kill of the opponent or generally a very big slice of their health. It was completely absurd when you could 1 tap a maxed netherite player from 5 blocks, it's laughable distance
The current iteration of the mace is far weaker, new speed completely removed the viability of using it as a sword and the damage nerf made it far worse against the PvE ( previously the acceleration was base 3 damage + 5 density (1 per level ) = 8 total per block // Now past 8 blocks the acceleration is base 1 damage +2.5 density (0.5 per level ) = 3.5 total per block ). Its still pretty overpowered in hands of a good player, but generally its much more situational for most
how do you plan on pulling out the shield midair???
@@birdbrain0401the shield is used on a separated slot dude, you bring it up with a button without taking away your weapon, thus u keep the Charged mace.
I love this classic aproach to making video essays by starting out of nowhere with WW2 reference
i'm super surprised you dont have more viewers cause this is a pretty high quality video, youtube recommendations once again finding me a great small channel
He intentionally killed his visibility by including footage of WW2 in a video about minecraft 😂. But who cares we found em
@@Weberkooks "we first have to understand WW2" was an incredibly funny transition so i'd say worth
Love your videos, your train of thought is just on track enough to cover the important stuff, but takes enough scenic routes to keep it interesting. Keep up the great work lol
Ah yes, minecraft, well known for it's balanced pvp
The first time i hit a market garden i felt like i understood the game intrinsically
it seems silly of me to say this- but its main use is when im leaving the base and theres a creeper, i hop off the roof and one shot it
it saves time, its fun
i dont use a bow because im bad at keeping arrows on me
Well... I never knew the Market Garden was actually named after something in WW2
I just thought it was called that because a Shovel is a Gardening tool
Honestly, I thought that section was made up until I looked it up
Here’s some engagement for the Al Gore rhythm
3:31 now that's my kinda throwaway joke
Finally, a minecraft player with a brain
I agree so much with the damage number toggle in accessibility.
If you're falling at least 4 blocks into a crit, Density is better than breach against full Netherite. It's only 0-3 block falls where breach has an anti-armor advantage.
tf2 with minecraft and terraria ost, just goated direction
I dont like the inclusion of crystals as an example of "situational burst damage" if you have a kb sword and are fast enough you can do almost full damage with the crystal every hit, the main reason everyone doesnt use it all the time is the fact that its expensive but mostly because it isnt allowed on most servers the mace also falls into this category for the same reason

I appreciate the constant usage of "enemy gamer" throughout the video
*You know what is definitely overpowered?...*
*End Crystals!*
the mace is the trident 2.0 everyone starts glazing it and forgets about it a year later
exactlyy my thoughts, even when the mace in pre-releases, the target is gonna be moving and youre not gonna hit it 100%, i love how the devs said, when they're adding a new weapon they dont want to overthrow the others which to me sounds like a good principle
Wow, you changed my perspective on the matter. I did not the full picture, I had only tunneled vision on "infinite damage". Thanks
=D
ULTRAKILL ROCKET SOUNDS?
I don't go to this school, I just make houses, so I was just thinking about the Elster skin from the beginning the entire time while enthusiastically nodding along.
3:29 ah yes I also only use a mace without any other weapons or armor.
you forgot breach swapping. that what really makes the mace good. Also the super long cooldown dosent matter, it still does the same damage when falling
put this on the list of items im going to ignore every time i play minecraft
its a fun item
i didnt know about the mace before this and when u explained the effect i just thought "this sounds terribly bad"
The problem is that there's something called sword swapping making the mace deal the swords dmg with the effect of the mace
so cool down isn't a problem
Yes the mace can get countered by using slow falling or a bow but if you're fighting against multiple ppl and they're hogging ip on you it's very easy to at least hit once especially if they're holding totems
The blue pill being estrogen is just beautiful. Top notch editing right there.
The mace cooldown doesn't matter when in the air as long as you hit your target when above the block threshold.
I think the mace can be more useful in survival if the AOE of the smash attack is improved, maybe through an enchantment. Make it so the impact of the mace is so powerful it does damage to entities standing like 2 blocks away from the one that got hit.
Nah, let it be an extreme axe
the term "the enemy gamer" has been permanently etched into my lexicon
Bro dragged in every fandom
Arrows of slow falling completely disable the mace for the durration of the potion effect
5:18 a shield wont save you, slam stuns exist
What about the secret technique of shielding while walking backwards?
Edit: No but like seriously, people use wind charges by launching them straight down underneath them, and although it gives the most height, it absolutely guts horizontal airspeed. You also just don’t have much control in the air as in the ground, you can’t air strafe effectively and it’s way harder to reverse direction. Not only that, hitting an ACTUAL moving target trying to dodge well and full control over their own movement on uneven terrain is simply put, really hard. And at that point, you might end up using more effort for less results
Honestly though? I really like the Mace, because assuming both sides, the mace user and defender, know what they are doing, it creates a really dynamic fight only seen in something like cart pvp, so honestly it’s just really cool and I think it’s fair on both sides
Mace PvPer expert here, I’m really glad there’s people like you who understand that the mace actually takes a loooot of skill to use.
The mace is fine in pvp but in pve its pretty crazy since you dont even need to go high or risk dying because windburst
OK I know I left a comment saying that this video is amazing but I have to go back and say just HOW MUCH the freaking comedy style, music choice and timing (hey kinda like that mace analogy) adds to this video. You have my ass smiling this whole vid, great stuff💙
0:54 Hey. I dont. I dont think those are the right allies
1:50 That was an amazing killing spree...BY THE OTHER TEAM!
Good video, and even better taste in music. I think wind burst is the only thing you didn’t mention which when used well brings the mace up a tier
With wind burst enchantment you can infinitely hit mobs, like a combo in Tekken. If you were to use this on the ender dragon, you should be able to kill him in 3 perches.
the only part about the mace i actively hate... mod balancing implications
something ive noticed is that a lot of the more recent updates with stuff like the smithing template, are so ungodly toxic and harmful to mod developers, i literally know someone who wants to just add a universal upgrade template for his mod's items so he can "turn off" smithing templates in a vanilla-esq way since the mod has like 9 different upgrading types in it
ALSO spam clicking works because theres no downside you raise your chances of hitting them for a slight damage reduction
Actually, mace slam attacks don’t use the attack cooldown.
imo i feel like they should change the damage from being calculated on how far u fell over to how fast youre moving instead. it would probably make it more fun to use (like if you were using it with an elytra for example) while still not deviating from its original playstyle. and if u still want crazy instakill setups just make it so after u reach "terminal velocity" start calculating damage based on how many blocks u fell at max speed
Nah
Just a note the mace does the same amount of fall damage no matter how long it's been equipped
you deserve much more subs, man
I love that the music in the background is distinct from average stock music on most videos. It's really cool!
The mace is really powerful in pvp because you can hit a player with a sword then in the same tick swap to the mace with breach and the sword’s damage will come with armor piercing
Thats a cute lil overwatch reference in the description
7:30 finally someone else knows pendulum
the enderdragon could be one hit killed before the hammer...
I have found the mace way better than a sword for fighting common mobs a lot of times, I have 2 videos on that, but overall is just fun to play with, is useful enough to not sit on the shelf as a trophy never to be used, but not overpower to the point the whole game is centered around it
wind burst is very efficient to fight groups of mobs and I feel mojang wanted people to get more into using it on fodder considering they raised its durability after the last nerfs
perfectly balanced :D
“Enemy gamer” elmaxo 😭
this guy has my kind of humor, i like him
The mace on bedrock works a little differently, two notable changes being that you can actually do damage while flying with elytra (and you can save yourself with elytra if you miss), and you can spam click mace on bedrock, making it way easier to hit
In bedrock you can use a bug to build up mace damage while standing in a block of water which means you can farm wardens
nah the mace in the second snapshot tho was stupidly broken (bc thats when they added the enchants for it and there were no nerfs to it yet- plus density and breach could be on the same mace and it still was a diamond sword)
yeah that’s why i avoided talking about that one like it was the plague, that one was busted 100%
Its situationally powerful but overpowered is not a word id use for it its the kind of thing you set up
Ultrakill music peak! :D
this video is perfectly hinged
I want armor and weapons with effects. Like, outside of enchants. Maybe a sword that drops from the warden, where it doubles exp when killing, but in return is only as strong as a normal diamond sword, and can't be enchanted?

3:31 you're not limited to bringing only one weapon you know?
he literally makes this point later in the PvE section of the video. You've missed the point, which is that the mace is not overpowered
@@frimi8593 a bit over double damage without a counter, that's not overpowered? Did you never learn about breach swapping?
@@Vetrical “a bit over double damage” in what context and compared to what? Cuz it’s certainly not double damage compared to swords and/or axes? By the way, does the mace significantly buff or even synergize with any other weapons? No? Oh well in that case if you need to bring other weapons for it to be viable than it’s not particularly op, huh? You seem to be treating it like a less effective axe for the purpose of pvp

the mace is best for stealth attacks. if you're on a server, and you see somone in netherite and they don't see you, thats free loot
