    I have had my 1300 since March and have been struggling to get the bike to work well for me suspension wise. Both this and the part 2 of your series have an absolutely Brilliant and informative lessons on the 1300gs suspension explanations. By far the most informative of all I have seen to date. Love it and thank you.

      Hi Dave, hopefully you have now found a set up that works for you and the type of roads you ride on. Once you get the hang of thinking in terms of how the engineers set the system up, it’s fairly easy to find a solution that works for you.
      Always select your Ride Mode first…
      Then if your aim is comfort go straight to Suspension Mode :Road and change the DSA to -2, then you can slowly firm up the suspension from that point to match your needs.
      Remember:
      -2 = soft
      +2 = firm
      It just takes time to find the perfect setting for you and your requirements,
      I hope you find a good setting
      Kindest regards Carl 🙋🏻‍♂️

Keep that throttle twisted and keep dishing out the wisdom. Here’s to the '25 season being an epic one for everyone out there tearing up the road or trails. Ride hard, ride safe, and keep the rubber side down! 🏍🔥

      Hi Carl, your videos are superb, thank you. My 1300GS is arriving next Monday and you have enabled me to really prepare for the various settings and have a much better awareness of the options for ride and suspension. Slightly separately, what navigation system/s do you recommend? The bike has the preparation for navigation so I’m starting to look at the sat navs and Chigee devices, but any views would be much appreciated. Many thanks Mike

      Hi Mike, congratulations on your GS and it’s fast approaching arrival. With regards to navigation I use the standard Navigator 6 as it has one main benefit over most of the other systems. That’s the ability to use the wiz wheel to zoom in or zoom out instantly without having to touch the screen. For me this is a vital function for leading groups on tour.
      But there are lots of other systems that offer some nice features.
      Personally I am waiting for the INNOVV N2 Pro Pin to be released, hopefully it will have all the features I want and use.
      Best wishes Carl 🙋🏻‍♂️

    A superb video!
    I totally agree with you about the handling of the 1300 GS, it's almost magical how well it handles corners something almost every other youtuber fails to explain.
    Also your videos on how to set up the suspension are just the best out there!
    The 1300 GS is an absolutely brilliant motorcycle when it comes to riding experiences in corners, especially during trips with a full load! My wife and I just made a small upgrade in softer seats and now it's by far the best motorcycle on our trips through the Alps.
    Keep up the good job! :o)

    Briliant guide for suspension set up Carl, thanks for very useful guiding : ) My GS 1300 is currently in production, and will be ready at my dealer february 24. Looking very forward to receive it, have been riding BMW GS and GSA 1250 for the last five years. Had a three hour test drive in november, tried both the new GSA and the GS, and I find the GS much more fun to ride. I loved my 1250, but this bike convinced my totally, and i swapped in my 2024 GSA, and order it prompyly. I,m 195 cm tall, and the riding position(Enduro Package) suits me perfeckt(with high comfort seat) . Definetly the BEST BIKE i ever has been ridden. Best regards, retired firefighter, NOEWAY

    Lots of top information, above and beyond all other reviews out there. In fact, I do wonder at how little time some reviewers spend on bike set up, esp considering a spanner is not even required these days. MSR, modes and damping are going to make such a difference to the ride and to ignore adjusting them can only give half the story.👍

    Hi Carl. When you started the series you made a Must have’ list of options for a new 1300. I took your advice and ticked all those boxes. I was surprised to find the one thing which wouldn’t send me back to a 1250 is the Ride height Assist. It’s a real game changer for me. Also having the forged alloy wheels makes cleaning the bike even easier.
    The only thing I don’t like are the Tourance Next 2 tyres. I’ve had a couple of incidents and lost confidence in them. I know you like them and with 50 degree lean angles that’s proof of how capable they are. Lots of very useful info here too. Thanks 👍👍

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  12 днів тому +1

      Hi Slip, the tyres take 15 ish minutes to warm up and then seem to grip really well, I know the OEM original are sometimes not the same as bought over the counter tyres, it’s been like that for many years in the tyre industry. But I don’t know if that the case for these NT2 tyres. I’ll ask around and report back if I hear anything that can be confirmed. The tyres that come fitted from new are often not exactly the same compound as what we buy from the suppliers. More cost saving 🤔

    Hi Carl, brilliant video and simple explanations of riding mode set ups . I tend to be in dynamic engine & road suspension on and height on auto . I’ll try your +1-2 recommendation too. I wash my GSA 1250 exactly the same way as you , I’ve got the scorpion air blaster and brilliant for drying off especially the switch gear and the two rads . Still confused about some suspensions settings. For Touring ride, you recommand Dynamic -1 or -2, why not road 0 (or -1) ?
    Other thing, enduro -1 or -2 would it be nice for highway travel or not recommanded ?
    A good thing to have will be a sort of scale from smoother to harder, mixing all the three modes just to know, for exemple, if road +2 is harder than dynamic 0 etc

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  10 днів тому +1

      Because on that slide / screen (touring) you will notice I highlighted smooth A roads. Remember you have to think about the road quality first, if the roads are B roads then move from dynamic to road suspension mode.

    Just a quick question to clarify your recommendations. You have linked 2-up with the Advanced Rider who is riding faster; what would you suggest for an average rider, touring 2-up with full luggage (panniers & top case), and a wife who wants a nice steady and comfortable ride on variable roads (Alps)? Many thanks.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis  11 днів тому +1

      Hi John,
      Ride mode: Road for gently controllable throttle inputs.
      Suspension mode: Road
      DSA: 0 or +1
      AVHC: Auto
      TP: 36F / 44R
      But it’s worth experimenting with suspension mode: dynamic with DSA -2 or -1 if the roads are smooth and good quality.
      It’s all about finding what you both like best, try a different setting each day and experiment and keep notes, that’s how we do it.
      Enjoy your Sunday

      @@justthewayitis Thanks, great video's! Yeah, I do know about that. I love my 1250GS, had it from new in 2019. I may change it for the 1300GSA but will need to take a demo ride first.

      Hi Rob, I like you, I do love my R1250GS and currently no plans to change her, but the gsa does look interesting 🤔

      @@justthewayitis I road a 2024 1250GSA Low Suspension because the regular height GSA is too tall for me but found the ride harsh. But now that BMW has the auto ride height, the 1300GSA's seat height gets to be lower than on my GS by 10mm!! So we'll see in a few years upgrade to the 1300GSA, if I like it after a demo ride. Ride safe!!
