    As an Imam now, I had a story when I was reading Surat Ya-Sin during Taraweeh when I was young. I was just saying one ayat then I took a break for 3 seconds because I was running out of breath. Straight away, somebody in the back shouts "'ALA SIRATIM MUSTAQIIM!" It scared me and I forgot the rest of the Surat so I had to go into ruku. I had to read from another Surat hesitantly.

    Just to mention a couple of points to bring what the Brother said home.
    1. This is especially an issue in Teraweeh. Everyone is understandably tired because we're staying up for long hours of the night. So 15 or 20 people correcting the Imam is kind of annoying.
    2. Most likely the Imam already has huffad who have memorized the Qur'an and know it way better than many of these Brothers who are making the correction, though may Allah reward them for their efforts, of course.
    I say this from experience, because the Imam of my local Masjid raised the same issue last Ramadan.

      @Mohamed--Aden 8 місяців тому +16

    The Prophet, peace and blessings bs upon him, would say before prayer to the people behind him, "ليلني منكم أولوا الأحلام والنهى", meaning, "let those of endurance and sound mind stand behind me". This ensures that behind the Imam is someone who would be wise and well-intentioned in the way of correction, and also that, should the Imam be unable to continue the prayer, that the person behind him would be able to smoothly replace him and continue, rather than having someone who was perhaps not paying attention or who wouldn't be able to continue the recitation.

    Thank you so much for all these explanations. Sometimes I know the correction but I am so worried I am not correct that I keep quiet, also I ask myself why some people who are more knowledgeable didn't intervene.

    Jazakum Allahu Khairan... It's arguable that you can completely look to your left or right to check if the corrector is present or not. It'd be better to know this beforehand before the prayer starts altogether. You should always be focused on the prayer and not look left or right, up or down, or anywhere else. It's not an excellent example in my honest opinion. It's best to know if the corrector is present, if not, it's better to start correcting the Imam and if you hear someone else correcting you can remain silent, and sometimes if voices overlap, the Imam waits until only one person talks... However, it's the worst scenario to look to your side to check if someone is present or not. Avoiding overlaps and confusion is one level, but also respecting prayer is a completely different level. Do not sacrifice the correctness of your own prayer only for one less voice.
    I hope this note makes it to the video 🙏

      No, that's not correct. What he did is exactly what one should do in that situation. No one is allowed to correct the imam except the corrector unless he is not present. So, it is a necessity to know if he is present or not. And it is permissible to turn your face during the salah in case of necessity. As it was done by the Prophet (PBUH) and Abu Bakr (RA) and others. So, what Sh. al-Huthaify did indicates his knowledge of jurisprudence and reason as Dr. Badr bin Ali al-Otibi said while commenting on the very video.
      So, one must not talk on any issue without the knowledge.

      @@Haqeeqat Jazakum allahu khairan. You're pivotting the permissibility on the necessity. Can you quote this necessity from scholars? I can hardly find any supporting text regarding an appointed Fatih, as opposed to a heap of texts supporting Khoshoo in Salah.
