This was so interesting! I just signed an engineering offer for a tech company in SOMA and I've never stopped to think how different days look for different roles. Keep making work week in my life videos, they are so relatable to me haha 🙂
I know I'm a little late and you might not see this comment, but as someone who requested this video, I just want to say thanks for making it. I've got to say, your job sounds like a ton of work. Holy cow. I could never handle it, especially if doing a UA-cam channel on top of that. How you manage to keep such a bubbly, cheery personality despite working so hard is unfathomable to me. But I mean that as a compliment - great job on being so successful!

I agree with you about the connotation that Sales has. When I first got my internship as a sales person I honestly thought I was going to be one of those scummy used sales man. After my internship I got offered a full sales position and now I realize that it is a lot of data based selling.
this was so helpful! i’ve been trying to figure out where i want to take my career and had been looking into sales a lot lately. thanks for breaking this all down !
Thank you for the video. I am currently 24 and I used to work as an electrician and a roofer. Now, I’m back in college getting my CS degree and hopefully I’ll get my own career. This video is very inspiring
Thank you so much. I work in a sales-interfacing role and working with Sales can sometimes be a pain point. I know this is bc our departments are differently motivated. Thanks so much for this video, I’ve been curious about sales for ages and I find it’s so hard to get people to say what the role actually entails !! Super interesting and helpful, especially as an introvert so glad you touched on that too
Love this video so much. Not only did you provide me plenty of tips and insights into the job/field, but you also cleared out all my concerns regarding the career path and advancement in sales.
I appreciate this video so much! I've been eyeing the tech industry for a while now, coming from an accounting/ admin/ customer service background but would like to move towards an industry where the sky is the limit. love the points you made, made me more interested!! thank you!
It may seem like sales commissions are taxed at higher rate than your base salary. However, at the end of the tax year when you calculate your tax bracket (salary + commission) it will all balance out. There are certain withholding rules that apply to sales commissions which may see the company withhold a larger percentage of your commission than your base salary. However, when you file your taxes you may see a refund if the company withheld too much of your commission based on your final tax bracket.
Finally smb described it in understandable way. I am starting a tech sale training in two weeks. I've been researching and l trying to figure out if it's really what I want. Thank you.
Loved this vid!! I'm joining a company in silicon valley post grad in a sales/systems engineering role and this definitely helped explain some things I was confused about :)
awesome video!! i'm a college senior who recently signed into consulting, but i was looking into tech sales for a hot sec earlier. i would say that the biggest reason i never threw myself into tech sales is because i had so little information on what it is (alumni from my school don't usually work in it) so i wish i had this video a few months ago! hopefully this helps someone else on the job hunt!!
I happened upon your channel while researching 'tech sales'. I'm a proposal writer specializing in government RFPs. I work with the tech sales folks to develop the proposals that win the contracts at the end of the day. Thanks for the insight into what you guys do.
Thank you for sharing, I'm new at the field and love exploring and learning all about tech sales, I have to say you make the process much understandable and much easier.
This is such an informative video! I've always heard that we had super awesome "sales ppl" but never knew exactly what they actually do in tech sales. Sounds like a super cool job! I wish I knew about it in college 🤩
This is interesting info. I wish I could apply for a role like that over there, but I'm European so good luck with a working visa. I've been in sales/lead generation for years. Now I'm supervising a team of people who are generating leads for an Adobe campaign. It's interesting to know how it all works over there.
This is such a great video! I've noticed tech sales and tech consulting have been a big field, especially for college graduates (speaking from the Chicago area). I actually accepted an offer after college to go into Tech Consulting myself, and it's really interesting to observe and see the growth of these fields within the last few years. Hope you're enjoying your apartment!

Sales is sales, regardless of car sales or tech sales rep. It's not "prestigious" like IB or consulting. The most obvious reason being, take consulting for example, sales is part of consulting (consulting also involves client management, project management etc), but consulting depends heavily on problem solving skills, analytical skills (quantitative research), data analysis etc. Sales on the other hand is mostly client management - hitting up clients, take them to dinner, kiss ass etc. Consulting requires extensive industry research and sometimes data science and statistics knowledge depending on the company. It's a job that requires not just people skills and professionalism(like sales), but also industry expertise and interdisciplinary knowledge in business, statistics, analytics etc. While sales can have a lot of earning potential, I don't think 'prestigious' is a suiting word to describe it, but it is a necessary and important job for companies. A lot of scientists earn far less than corporate sales but imo they have a prestigious job for the value and meaning they provide for human advancement.
